Blood Red Shadows
Chapter 39: Act II, Chapter 12: SOS
Previous Chapter Next ChapterAlex shot at the Syndicate hit men.
From what he heard, Basically and Mini walked straight into a meeting and drank all of their alcohol. Sure it was a dumb move on their part, and, had it been someone else, he would have made them apologize, but they were already in too deep.
Plus, he hated the Syndicate. He hated them a lot.
Firing the KMG at, yet another, car, he killed both the driver and whomever was sitting behind him.
Mini and Basically were also shooting at the hit-men, and rather decently, one had been shot right between the eyes, causing brain matter and gore to spew out the back like a 2-liter soda bottle. Another one had been shot in both knees, both arms, and several times in the chest.
When the rest had retreated, Alex turned to face both men.
"What have we learned here today?" Alex groaned, he'd hoped they would learn their lesson now. Next time, he wouldn't bail them out.
"Drinking other people's booze is a bad thing..." Basically grumbled.
"And..?" Alex prompted.
"...It's even worse when it's the bad guys' booze." Mini Ladd finished.
"Good. You're lucky I was getting ammunition and medicine when they attacked you. Next time, I won't go out of my way just to bail you guys out." Alex chided yet again.
"Yeah, like I don't have enough problems with Vanoss." Basically scoffed.
"Pssh, you wish. At least you guys aren't dealing with holographic projections of dead friends and helpful, creepy mentors." Alex rolled his eyes.
"Interesting thought, Alex. May I remind you that you started crying about 30 seconds into the sim?" Iris mocked.
"Wow. That is just sad." Mini smirked.
"Shut up, Mini." Alex scowled.
"Yeah, yeah, Tobey Maguire." Basically laughed.
"Laugh it up, assholes." Alex grumbled.
After a few more minutes of taunting, Mini and Basically left for their own apartments, leaving Alex alone with an annoying A.I.
"Phone call from your waifu, Alex." Iris beamed.
"Ms. Xiao Long is hardly my waifu, you know-it-all piece of crap." Alex scowled.
"Oh, really?"
"Yes. Really."
"Well, better hurry up now. The phone is still ringing."
"Yeah, sure." Alex calmly replied answering the phone.
Alex grabbed his cellphone, sure enough, that same picture Yang had given him of her flipping off the camera with her name written in white underneath appeared on the screen. He swiped the touch screen to the right in a quick motion.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Alex!" Yang happily sang from the other end.
"What is it? Is something the matter?" Alex asked.
"Yeah. I heard gunfire coming down the road. It stopped and I wanted to check and see if you were still alive."
"I'm fine." Alex assured.
"Quite the contrary, Alex was shot once in the stomach and another skinned him. In addition, his blood pressure is at 148/93." Iris said.
"What?!" Yang gasped
"That isn't true! My blood pressure is at 125/82!" Alex scowled.
"Actually, given the stress you have experienced in the past two to three months, your blood pressure has raised significantly. Relatively common in patients with Post-Traumatic Stress."
"Is she serious?!"
"Oh, please. I don't have PTSD."
"Actually, according to what Ms. Dash has said, you've been suffering from symptoms of PTSD as early as your stay in Ponyville."
"And you did tell me that you have a lot of nightmares." Yang said.
"Alright, fine! So I'm not the healthiest! Maybe my blood pressure is at 150, and maybe I do have PTED!" Alex groaned.
"Actually, we are referring to your Post Traumatic Stress, not your Post-Traumatic Embitterment."
"That too?!" Alex groaned.
"You do constantly reject help." Yang pointed out.
"That is not a mental disorder, but it is worth bringing up." Iris stated.
"Can you two shut up about my health!?" Alex facepalmed.
"I agree, now is not the time to discuss his detrimental state." Iris agreed.
"Thank you, Iris. So what is it you wanted to talk to me about?" Alex asked.
"I wanted to tell you that Ruby and I just bailed Vanoss and Wildcat out. They were having a 1v1 sniper duel at the airport and it got the Syndicate's attention." Yang explained.
"Thank you for keeping me updated." Alex smiled.
"Your welcome! I'm feeling a little tired after killing them though."
"Sure. Take care." Alex said.
"Bye!" Yang said before hanging up.
Alex continued his walk home.
"So. About Ms. Xiao Long..." Iris began.
"You have 10 seconds to make your case." Alex groaned.
"A relationship would likely lower your blood pressure and possibly help you with your nightmares." Iris stated.
"So, relationships are prescriptions now?" Alex scoffed.
"In all seriousness. It may be time to let go some of that pain inside."
"What pain? Winchester's dead, Sigma knows not to mess with me, and Kat's with us, what could be wrong?" Alex asked.
"The fallout from the torture, the pain of Karis's death, the fact that you are all being hunted by mad men." Iris began listing every negative thing in his life.
"Yeah, yeah. I get the point." Alex groaned.
"If you won't have an intensely intimate relationship, then at least try and make more friends, and not just ex-gamers who you had to pay so they wouldn't kill you."
"Who?" Alex asked.
"Find some. You'll be sure to feel a little better."
"Not in this city, I had to bribe 5 or 6 people just to find one girl." Alex scoffed.
"Do not worry. True friendship finds you, or you find it."
-4 hours later-
"Uugh. My head..." Alex groaned as he stumbled around the brightly lit room.
Then Alex noticed something a little peculiar.
This room had no direct source of light, that and it was white and foggy.
"Iris. Come in." Alex automatically beckoned to his A.I, but the wrist-pad that he usually wore was gone.
"Hello?" Alex asked, pulling out both .44 Scratch and Electric Fury.
He turned to his left, nothing. He turned behind him, still nothing, but the room started to get darker.
"Alex Gabriel Walker of Geo Vector 0-1, Faust Zeta 3-7, Oum Alpha 1-2, and RS Eta 7-3?" A voice beckoned.
He had no idea what any of those were, but he remembered Oum Alpha 1-2 from his initial escape. And RS Eta 7-3 was where he currently resided. He really needed to ask just who came up with the system of naming universes.
"Yes, that's me... I think..." Alex stumbled.
A dark blue Alicorn floated in front of him before landing on all fours, a very familiar blue Alicorn.
"Princess Luna?!" Alex gaped.
"Finally! Do you have any idea how many of you there are?! I must've met at least 36 other yous before I asked Discord!" She sighed, as though exasperated.
"Is everything okay?" Alex asked.
"I should be asking you the same thing. You left before your trial." Luna scoffed.
"Trial?" Alex asked.
"So you really don't know..." Luna cringed, as if what had happened was too terrible.
"What?" Alex asked.
"Rainbow had turned in a few copies of your dossier into Equestrian authorities. They were to have you on trial in court."
"How much?" Alex asked.
"Torture records and your bio."
"Oh."
"So, when you left, there couldn't be a fair trial, and Celestia and I formally pardoned you. Naturally, ponies got angry with the fact that you pretty much got away with murder."
"A whole political scandal over me of all people?" Alex gaped.
"I'm afraid it is far worse than that. A lot of those angry ponies were Royal Guards and Criminals. They, led by a Gryphon named Iron Talon, led an insurgency against Equestria itself, called the Rogue Guard."
"That sounds terrifying." Alex backed away.
"It is. Most of these ponies thought that war was just something of legend, never to happen again. And now..." Her voice trailed off.
"So, Rainbow started a war?" Alex asked.
"Not exactly, there were many responsible, but it was Rainbow Dash who set these events in motion." Luna figured.
Alex leaped with joy.
"Human! 'Tis not the time to be joyful!" Luna scolded.
"Finally! Someone started a cataclysmic war and it's not me!" Alex sang.
"What dost thou mean?"
"Apparently, I killed Winchester, which, according to your mythology, starts the apocalypse." Alex explained.
Luna's dark blue visage turned white.
"The end times are upon us?!"
"According to a bunch of very old books."
Luna paced back and forth.
"This is bad, this is very, very bad..." She muttered.
"Not as bad as what else happened!" Alex added.
"God's wounds! Cease thy words!" Luna gasped.
"Myself, as well as all 22 of my friends are being hunted by the Inquisitors."
Luna deflated, face-hoofing before turning to face Alex.
"You ignorant buffoon! Dost thou realize what you've done?!?!"
"Apparently doomed multiple worlds, including your own?" Alex meekly added.
"...Yes!" Luna's left eye twitched.
"What do I have to do?" Alex groaned.
"Thou is to return to Equestria to sort this mess out!" Luna concluded.
"I can't! I've got my own problems!"
"You must! The fate of all is at stake here!" Luna pleaded.
"Fine. I'll do this the same way I dealt with the first crisis in Equestria. Alone."
Luna looked at him like he had just grown three heads.
"This is not something that can be dealt with alone! You need your allies!" Luna slapped him.
"Ow! They'll be fine! Kat can lead them! Besides, I may as well be alone! To everyone else there, I'm nothing but a cold-blooded murderer and a coward!" Alex reasoned.
"Is that really what you believe they think of you?" Luna asked, an edge of sympathy shining amongst the contemptful anger.
"That's what I am! When I found out that the Militia was working against me, I ran! When your sister's pupil was against me, I ran! Even now, I'm running away, trying to delay the inevitable! So if you think that I'm some sort of role model, or someone to be admired, think again!!" Alex elaborated.
The princess of the night gaped at him.
"You really are ignorant. Thou cannot see what your own comrades see in you." Luna sighed.
"What could they possibly see in me?!" Alex scoffed.
"They see a brother in arms. A friend, an ally, a trustworthy leader who will stare death in the eye. To some, even a potential lover-"
"Too much!" Alex waved both hands defensively.
"Thy point is, thou should have more confidence in yourself. But I am getting beside the point."
"Which is..?"
"Return to Equestria. Aid us in these dark times. Soldier." Luna nodded as she walked away.
The room grew brighter. He was waking up.
Alex gasped in his bed. He felt the data-pad on his arm glow bright blue.
"Good morning, Alex. Your brainwaves were off the charts during your sleep! Any dreams you're willing to share?" Iris asked.
"Just one thing. Where can I find the Die Glocke on this world?" Alex asked.
"Do you wish to return to Remnant? Earth?" She asked.
"Equestria."
"What about Equestria?" A voice asked from upstairs.
"Who is that?" Alex asked.
"Ms. Xiao Long requested to stay in the apartment at 0500, they said their wi-fi was disabled. Ms. Belladonna came very recently.."
"What?! Why did you let both of them in here?!" Alex yelled.
"You were asleep. I did not want to disturb you. Besides, she drew on your face." Iris stated.
"Well, Yang did. I just talked with Evan on the phone." Blake smirked, coming down the stairs.
"You guys suck." Alex scowled.
"I tried to stop her." She shrugged.
"Wait.. Why are you here? Aren't you a little... I don't know... Too anti-social and respectful of other people's space to just drop in to a guys apartment while he's sleeping?" Alex asked.
"Actually, I just came to get Yang before your face was completely covered in marker." Blake explained.
"Seems reasonable, did she draw anything inapropriate?" Alex asked.
"All of it is."
"Figured. Now please leave, I'm still in bed." Alex sighed, it was about 8:00, much to early for him.
"I was just about to."
"Thank you."
Blake suddenly perked, and stood very still.
"What?" Alex asked.
A quick look further up the stairs explained everything. Yang held a small laser pointer in her hand, and had it pointed straight at him.
That, combined with the fact that Blake was a Faunus, told him this was probably bad news.
"YOU FU-"
Next Chapter: Act II, Chapter 13: Return to Equestria Estimated time remaining: 7 Hours, 20 MinutesAuthor's Notes:
I feel like I'm starting to lose readers as the story goes on, so I'm going to try something here.
Long story short, I changed a good amount of the plot to try and get that demographic back, while still trying to keep what's already been written so it doesn't seem like 'A did this and B did that because God was bored' kind of deal.
For example- Alex is returning to Equestria, who goes with... Yeah, I'm not going to spoil that much.
