The Rise of The Changelings
Chapter 6: The Land of Sugar and Weat
Previous Chapter Next ChapterThe scouting team spotted another city state, as is what they're being called, "Trot" is what the inhabitants have named it. A rather simple name. The populace is composed of mostly earth ponies although, the unicorns are only one hundred ten from being the majority. Culture of the city of one and a half thousand is more aligned towards central Saddle Arabia rather than its outskirts. The Hayiopian scouts, from earlier, were more influenced by zebras, as outer Saddle Arabia usually is. The buildings of the city are made of well chiseled sandstone. Another notable thing is that the ocean is on the city's east side, meaning, they've reached the end of the continent. They head north to scout out the rest of continent.
A few days later, they break into wide open plains. What they see baffles them. As far as the eye can see, sugar. Fields upon fields of sugarcane. The magical green stalks sprouting freely along a river. The scouts began to frolic the fields like little fillies, taking a bite of the cane every now and than. Changelings may not need to eat food to survive, but they get energy for physical tasks. While love may be their life essence and magical energy, it doesn't give much physical energy. It also does provide taste, and since it's been awhile since they had physical substance, the scouts are a little excited. So the sugar would be a valuable asset to the changelings. However, in their joyous outburst, they almost failed to notice the silhouettes of buildings on the horizon. It was a good thing at least one scout was flying high and paying attention.
They disguise themselves and head towards the city they found. Once they got to spotting range they notice the buildings are made of sandstone like in Trot, but they're more rounded and chiseled at a much lower quality. The north part of the city was bordered by large fields of wheat. The inhabitants were also far less open to visitors. Though they still might have gotten in the city, it wasn't without struggle. Getting information was also less than easy. The city's name was "Foalis Foalba," which roughly translates to "Foal's paradise." What a paradise it is.
Fair amounts of sugar and flour is supplied to the bakeries, which in turn keeps the whole city fed. Not one pony is to starve. The city considers itself to be part of a nation, "Hayiopia." They also have a single leader. The city states from before had councils which managed the cities. The leader's name is "Hay Stable." At a view, the city is composed of almost entirely earth ponies. Now that they think about it, the scouts haven't seen any unicorns or pegasi since they came in. Looking around, they don't see any anywhere at all. Nervous, they head east.
