None could properly prepare for the storm that hit the Crystal Empire three years after the defeat of the golden death. It came out of nowhere, rain and thunder falling from the pitch black clouds in the sky, the very same that made the brightest day, dark as night. At first, the storm wasn't nearly as bad as it had evolved into. It was merely a rainstorm to a certain three individuals...

In a room on the upper floor of a crystal house lay a softly crying Pegasus filly in her bed. She had a green coat and a long white mane and tail, and her eyes shone an emerald hue. Hearing her door creak open, she quickly turned over to see a light blue Pegasus stallion with a medium, brown mane and bright blue eyes. A bit of scruff had begun to form on his chin. This was none other than Rage Quit, the brains of Team Brachydios and the father of the crying filly. He smiled kindly at the sight of his daughter.

"Hey there, you little cutie..." he chuckled "Is the storm scaring you? Nah, there's nothing to worry about..." he approached the young filly and proceeded to give her a warm hug "The rain is just water. Y'know, the stuff you drink! It can't hurt us..."

"Unless a Kushala Daora appears" a Unicorn mare with a grey coat, orange mane and red eyes came into the room with a smirk on her face.

"Unity, don't scare the poor thing" Rage Quit laughed "Besides... a Kushala Daora? Really?"

"Razor Wind doesn't know what that is, it's all good" Unity shrugged with a smirk before laying next to her husband and child "Now, how's my little girl, hmm?"

"Mam!" Razor giggled as she booped her mother's nose.

"Not dad?" the male Pegasus asked disappointingly "You used to be such a daddy's girl. What happened to the good old days, eh, little girly?"

"Eh?" the Unicorn laughed "I thought we dropped the whole Vanhoover accent thing."

"Doesn't help I'm from Vanhoover, dear" Rage chuckled.

The couple laughed for a good while longer until a massive clap of thunder was heard from outside. Normally, any other pony would pass this off as any normal sound during a storm. But Rage Quit wasn't any other pony. He knew from experience that certain monsters made certain thundering noises. But this one was different. It sounded old...

"Something's out there..." he spoke simply "Unity, get Razor out of here and into the safe room."

"W-What?" Unity asked nervously "Rage Quit, are you sure something's out there?"

"No, but I'm not taking any chances" the light blue stallion nodded "Go. I'll take care of our little pest problem..."

"Right" she nodded before taking her daughter with her magic and placing her on her back, rushing out as fast as she could. Rage Quit ran into his own room and opened up a blue chest. Inside was a full Brute Tigrex armour set and an elite switch axe. He grinned before he put it all on and ran down the stairs and out the door, into the pouring rain and pitch black clouds.

"Haven't used this for months!" he laughed, despite the seriousness of the issue "Hope I'm not rusty! Ha ha!"

His cockiness stopped when a massive black shadow stomped down before him. Normally, the Pegasus would grin, ready his weapon, and charge right at it blindly. However, this monster was much, much different. It wasn't just a black shadow, no, Rage Quit could see it perfectly clear. It was a wyvern that had pure black scales and giant red spikes on its wings. A spike under its chin signaled it to be a Rathian, but its unsettling red eyes deemed otherwise. A blue flame sparked from its mouth as it stared the hunter down, a feat not many monsters could do nowadays.

"Well... That escalated quickly..." the light blue Pegasus stared in fear of the monster before him. It then let out a huge roar and blew him back from the force of it.

"That wasn't a thunder clap, that's for sure..." Unity spoke nervously as she continued running away with Razor Wind on her back "It'll all be over soon enough, little one. Daddy's gonna kill that monster and you'll be safe, okay?"

The young filly simply nodded as her mother continued running. It was then when they saw an explosion of blue fire go off not far from where they were. Unity stopped to look at the damage and noticed the explosion cleared a path for her to look and see the monster attacking the Crystal Empire.

It was unlike anything she had ever seen before. Scarier to her than the Gore Magala for one reason... Its eyes looked intelligent. That's when she realized it was staring right at her with its bright red eyes in hatred and insanity. Only one thought went through the Unicorn's mind at the moment.

"Run..." she whispered to herself before hightailing it out of there. She didn't care where she ran off to; she only cared that her family was safe. Wait... her family... Rage Quit!

It was too late to turn back now. The beast had taken off and was heading straight for Unity. It landed right in front of her with a thud and growled, revealing its Rathian-like body to her. However, what it did next surprised the mare.

"Give me the child..." a feminine voice came from the Rathian's mouth "Give me the child now, or suffer the consequences greatly!"

"Over my dead body!" Unity retaliated.

"That can be arranged..." the monster let out a chuckled before charging right at the mare and knocking her to her side, making Razor Wind roll on the wet crystalline floor. The young filly began to cry, and the Rathian merely chuckled.

"N-No..." the dark grey Unicorn tried to desperately reach for her daughter, but to no avail "P-Please... stop..."

"UNITY!!" Rage Quit called out, rushing out to help her, but being knocked down by the monster's blue flame. Once more, the beast laughed before going to retrieve the child. However, it stared at Unity and grinned before stomping her foot down on top of her.

"NO!!!" the stallion shouted, reaching out one of his hooves in desperation. But it was too late. The Rathian looked at Unity in disgust before going back to taking the child. But before it could, it was bombarded with shell after shell of bowgun firepower. The beast finally felt annoyed and took off.

"Captain Rage Quit, are you alright?!" a bowgun soldier in Gypceros armour helped his commanding officer up.

"Forget about me and help my family!" the light blue Pegasus shouted. Without a second though, the guard, joined by a few others, rushed to check on Unity and Razor Wind. While crying, the young filly was perfectly fine. However, Unity was slightly less fortunate.

"Sir! Come quick!" a guard shouted to Rage. The latter dashed over to his wife's scarred body and took no time in kneeling down and checking her wounds. Everywhere, her body had bruises and cuts, and she bled heavily.

"Unity..." the Pegasus cried as he held the Unicorn's body. Slowly, she came to, and despite all the pain going through her, she smiled to her husband and touched his face with one of her hooves soothingly. Tears began forming in both their eyes as the rain continued to pour down upon them. It wasn't long before the grey mare let out her final breath, not a final word spoken by her at all.

Rage Quit said nothing as he picked up her beautiful corpse with his wings and brought her over to one of the soldier's medical beds. He then went over to his crying daughter, now in the magical grasp of one of the guards, and placed her in his warm wings. Seeing her beautiful eyes brought a smile to Rage's crying face. He hugged her once again before walking away with her. She soon fell asleep to the sound of the rain, now beginning to clear away and become softer.

It had already been a week since the passing of Unity Cross. 'A mother and wife to a loving family' it said on the tombstone. Rage wished he could've put more on it, every little detail about her personality. But it was simply not to be. He stood over his wife's grave with Razor Wind standing beside him. He let out a sigh and began to smile.

"Hey, honey" he said, a tear rolling down his cheek "How're you doing? Razor Wind here is doing just fine, and I'm taking good care of her. That's what you'd want, right?"

"Da..." the young green filly hugged her father's front legs.

"Anyway, I have to be going now" he finished up "Monsters to hunt and money to be made. I'll see you around, okay?"

"Buh, bie, mam..." Razor waved her mother farewell and left with her father.

"Unity..." Rage spoke as he walked away "Somehow, someway, I'll find a way to avenge you. I'll kill that Rathian, and finally bring your soul to rest. Just you wait..."

The two ponies were at last out of sight from the graveyard. A soft breeze blew through there, calming the resting spirits. However, a wicked wind began blowing around as a woman clothed in black stepped out from the original viewpoint of the visiting ponies. Her giant hat obscured her face and a long cigar stick she was smoking was held by her magic.

"What a pity" she shook her head in disappointment "I rather liked him too. But I suppose I'll simply have to dispose of him. And the brat as well, while I'm at it..."

Suddenly, the wind blew off the mare's hat, revealing her grey coat and orange mane. Her eyes shone bright red and a wicked smile crawled on her face.

She looked exactly like Unity.
