Blast from the Past: 4

Alright I'm going to try to upload one chapter a day, if I follow this rule you will see this the day after "first impressions".Oh by the way you will learn a bit about the past of the "human" if you didn't read the description, you will also learn his name.

Blast from the Past

The voice was beyond pissed, in fact it seemed like if it could it'd kill me without a seconds thought. But, since it couldn't without fucking itself over, it settled with tormenting me. Again it showed me bloody images, but one appeared over and over. A young child, soaking wet and cold, with blue eyes crouching over a younger boy, possibly his brother. The young one was caked in frost, while the older was trying, without luck, to bring back his brother. The voice seemed to hold this one in high regard calling it the one "where we first met". How romantic. I was honestly curious about what happened, perhaps unlock some of my past. But do I truly want to know? The voice, like always did what I didn't want. I slowly saw a world appear in the dark abyss. I closed my eyes a little fearful of what happened. I was no longer in any pain, in fact I felt full of energy. Why would I be in pain? I no longer heard the voice, wait- what voice? I should go find my brother, he said he wanted to play today.

After many minutes of futile searching through the snow I grew worried, it isn't like him to avoid me. I searched all his known hiding places, I was very worried now. "John this isn't funny" I yelled hopping he would hear me and come running. Where did he say he wanted to go? Was it the apple tree? No, I was just there perhaps the- like that it hit me with a ton of bricks. The lake

. I ran as fast as I could. Why did he want to play by the lake?

***

"Alistar can we play by the lake tomorrow?" My brother begged. "If it is cold enough, I don't want the ice breaking under your little feet"

"I'm not little, I'm a big boy"

"You sure are, now lets go to bed, it gets cold at night." We had to take shelter in our parents home, we were holed up due to unfortunate circumstances involving our parents death. Because our parents possessed magical powers the Magical Congress took it upon them self's, from the very kindness of their hearts, to educate us poor wilders. They would be coming before long but we couldn't run anywhere to survive the winter. The best I can do is to spend this time with John, as we will likely never see each other again.

"I'm cold" "I'll go get some more blankets" When our parents were alive it was always warm enough, something to do with magic. So they didn't have much need for AC. I went down te hall from where we were staying, my room. All the other rooms were destroyed, by the experiments of my father. I didn't love him, in fact I hated him. He never paid any attention to my brother or I. My mother on the other hand made up for it. I only wish she hadn't been lost in dads crazy experiment. I don't know much about it only that it involved blood magic. The council didn't know this, if they did we would be killed without question.

I returned with the blankets I had found in the hall closet. Just enough to keep him warm . I will have to be cold but, anything for my brother. He was all I had left.

I snapped back to the present, due to me reaching the ice covered lake. I saw John happily, playing on it. I heard an enormous crack, as he disappeared.

"No..."

I quickly took off my clothes that will weigh me down, I sprinted across the ice, the ice not able to take my weight, broke under me. With part of my lower body in the freezing water,I crawled across the ice to where my brother disappeared. I dived, I was stunned by how freezing it is. Without taking time to recuperate I looked for my brother. Mybody already so numb I couldn't feel anything. I felt around for him, anything, something to grab onto. I felt a coat, but unable to tell if it was my brothers or not due to the cold. I pulled, feeling a reassuring weight around it. The reassurance didn't last long, as It was too heavy. Filled with dread I refused to give up. I scrambled over the already frosting over hole made by my brother, with strength I didn't know I had, I nearly threw him over myself in a rush to get him to air. I gasped in breath as I reached the surface. I smiled in triumph, but that didn't last long as I spied my brother. He was blue, frost covered him from head to toe. Feeling adrenaline coursing through me, I grabbed him by the collar, pushing him towards the parts of the lake completely frozen through.

I was over taken by fear for my brother, for how can I save him?

I gasped in pain as I was brought back to reality, well, the reality of purgatory. The voice cackled evilly, I didn't pay much attention to it as I relived the memory of my brother in my mind. I curled up in ball, attempting to remember what happened afterwards. Was he saved? Despite everything I went through I took some solace in finally knowing my name. Alistar. I was not familiar with other names but it still seemed strange to me. The voice left me again, as I seemed t be regaining some form of consciousness.
