Dragonfire
Chapter 23: The Assassin Part A: More familiar faces.
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"Spitfire?" Spike asked
"Right here." She replied
"You have the last two people?"
"Yep."
"Where are they at?"
"Both are... in Canterlot!?"
"Canterlot?"
"Yeah... both are in Canterlot, apparently."
"Well set coordinates to Canterlot."
"Gotcha!"
"And get Trixie with Strongheart to join me."
"Yes, sir."
Spike, Trixie, and Strongheart waited at the entrance of the ship to exit. Unlike the other places, Canterlot had enough space for their ship to navigate their way through and find a space for them to park at. Spitfire received a message about where they're permitted to park at and someone will be personally meeting Spike. After parking, Spike and his squad came out of the ship to see two Soldiers and a familiar looking mage with a black sweater & glasses.
"Moondancer!?" Spike asked in curiosity.
"Spike!?" she replied in shock. She adjusted her glasses with her aura and rubbed her eyes. "SPIKE!!!" She ran to him and hugged him!
"Easy there, Moon Dancer!"
"Why does she look like Twilight Sparkle!?" Trixie asked in anger
"Probably BFF's or something." Strongheart replied. Moon Dancer released Spike and took a few steps back, scratching the back of her head.
"I apologize for my looks," she replied "but Princess Twilight Sparkle and I may be friends, but I assure you that this is just a coincidence, even when we were kids at Celestia's school for gifted mages. As for you, Spike, it's good to see you again. I heard the news & watched the various videos where you and Twilight danced together. I thought it was fake, but... I guess I judged wrong."
"She still needs to work on her hand-eye coordination." Spike replied with a chuckle.
"Well, with introductions out of the way, we've been instructed to waive all docking and administration fees for your visit ."
"I was wondering why we were allowed board here."
"While it's true your ship is under FIST and has firepower, but with news on how you're alive with Famous wonderbolt Captain Spitfire piloting it, we couldn't risk shooting. Princess Luna vouched for your conduct and paid all fees you would normally incur. She also asked that I direct you to speak with her at your convenience; she's in her room at the castle."
"Well... thanks. I'm on a mission right now and i need to look for someone."
"I'm sorry, but I can't help you with that. I'm Luna's personal information gatherer, mechanic, engineer, and scientist right now, so the best I can do is point you to major entertainment centers & stores." Spike whistled.
"Guess coming out of your house has helped out a lot?"
"Well... yes, it has. Lemon Heart got me a job there, and thanks to my knowledge on various areas, it impressed Luna, and I am now working under her. Speaking of Luna, perhaps she can help you find your people."
"Hm... I guess that works. Well, see you soon, Moon Dancer. If we come back, I'll be sure to check your stuff out."
"Thanks! And please, enjoy your stay. Take this with you to meet Luna." Moon Dancer handed Spike a key card. They both nodded to each other, followed by Moon Dancer leaving.
"Something tells me she's hiding something." Strongheart commented.
"And I think you're overreacting." Trixie replied.
They entered the Canterlot castle, Spike showed the soldiers their key card and were allowed to enter. The castle hasn't changed from the last time Spike visited, though there were a lot more guards around on patrol. They stopped at Luna's room, two vampires stood next to the door, looking stern, but also somewhat frightened as a loud crash was heard inside Luna's room.
"Are you here to see Princess Luna?" One of the guards asked
"We are." Spike replied
"For what reason?" the other asked
"We're here to get an assassin, and perhaps a vigilante as well, off of Canterlot; We're on a suicide mission that'll stop Sombra and the Doppelgangers." They both looked at each other for a few moments, then nodded.
"Alright, you're clear to enter."
"Just help Luna calm down." The other pleaded. The stood aside and the door opened. Luna's back was at them as she sat in a chair, in front of her was a large T.V. with the latest video game, Luna was playing it, but it's clear her frustration was getting to her.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!" She yelled into an earpiece "I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR STUPID 420 BULLSHIT!!!"
"NOOB!!!" Another person on the other line yelled.
"Get REKT!!!" Another yelled. Her screen turned red, followed by the words "You died."
"FUCK!!!" Luna yelled, throwing and breaking the game controller.
"Quite the temper." Trixie commented
"I can understand." Strongheart replied
"Princess?" Spike asked.
"Who's there?" Luna asked, sounding very disinterested.
"It's Spike." Luna froze, but slowly got up, wiped some snacks off her chest, and turned around, seeing the Draco with the mage & behemoth. Luna tackled Spike, giving him a back cracking hug!
"OH MOST WONDERFUL OF TIMES!!! My sources are right! You are alive and well!!!" Spike Wheezed as the Immortal hugged him
"It's... good to see... you... too." Luna dropped Spike and sat back in her chair, turning it around as another table with tea ready came out of the floor.
"I must say, when that video of you and Twilight dancing came out, I thought it was fake; Twilight never dances like that!"
"She had practice. How are you doing?"
"Well... other than the millions of colonists who are being kidnapped, Sombra still out there with an army of Doppelgangers to back him up, crime soaring high as job employments are going down & poverty is rising with us on the edge of Martial law... I say I'm fine. But I must say, you being gone for two years and coming back, working with FIST, is a bit of a disappointment, but at least your actions have been good and, might I add, badass, especially how you're going to fight Sombra."
"Well if you know what we're going up against, why not join us?"
"As much as I'd like to, I can't; I don't work with FIST, I have responsibilities, and if I were to join and die, you'll all certainly be executed. I can, however, help you find some... individuals."
"You heard?"
"Of course. You'll be surprised just how stealthy my vampires can be."
"Well, in that case, I'm looking for an assassin and a vigilante."
"Ah yes... those two. The Assassin arrived here a few days ago and he or she may be targeting Suri Polomare. They contacted someone named Coco Pommel. Perhaps she can tell you where they're at."
"You know all of that but what the assassin looks like?"
"My men don't spy everyone in sight, Spike. I may be able to enter dreams, but there's a thing I know called 'Privacy'. I only break it when someone really needs my help or if there's something that can kill millions of people."
"Alright, and the vigilante?"
"Mare-Do-Well is what she's called. She arrived here in full costume a few weeks ago and has been bringing her own form of justice. We've been trying to find her, but she's just too fast for us. The only person to know where she's at is Soarin; you can meet him at the transportation HUB."
"Why Soarin? Isn't he with Rainbow Dash?"
"They're still together, they just need some... alone time."
"Ah. Well, thank you so much Luna, is there anything you need?"
"Just one, but I'm sure you can do it."
"And that is?"
"Come back alive and have Sombra's head." Spike stood up and gave a bow.
"I will, your majesty." Luna stood up and gave a salute.
"If you can't do either, then I'll make a memorial of you and your fallen crewmates."
"Hopefully, that won't happen."
"I'm just saying."
Spike, Trixie, and Strongeheart left. They knew they had to get the assassin, so Coco was their best guess. They walked into a waiting area, where, sitting down and reading a holobook, was Coco herself. Though Spike only saw her momentarily in Manehatten, like Fluttershy, she had no sign of aging with her nearly white blue & sky-blue hair and wore the same purple dress with red scarf. Spike walked to her.
"Coco Pommel?" He asked. She looked up, giving a small smile.
"Oh, hello." She replied very sweetly "Is there a problem? I hope there's not, I don't want any trouble mister... uh-"
"It's Spike, and don't worry, you're not in trouble."
"Oh thank goodness! ... Wait... THE Spike!?" She got up and began to touch him all over, making Spike both freeze and blush. "You got the muscles, those claws, that young, handsome face & hair looking scales above, but your armor is so... different! It's military looking, but not of Canterlot standard... in fact, it's better than Canterlot Armor as far as it looks! Where's this from? It can't be made from any Draco around, unless they're much more high tech than we think, no offense."
"None taken, and the producers of this armor is top secret. I was sent here from Princess Luna regarding about an individual you meet and Suri Polomare." Her expression went from curiosity to fear.
"Oh... Suri... I remember her. Look, I don't feel quite comfortable talking about her... and I'm not sure if I should be talking about the Zeb in the hood."
"A Zeb?" Strongehart asked
"Those savages!" Trixie commented.
Species:
-Zebs are an alien species from the planet Zebafrica, a planet that's been mostly untouched by anything else but the Zebs themselves. Zebs act more with a simpler, tribal culture with men hunting & women protecting the children, most varying on whether to be nomadic or stationary. They're all born with really dark skin and consume plants that are extremely poisonous & can kill any other species easily, but the Zebs are immune and their bodies develop white stripes, each varying on the shapes of one's veins. Another strange thing with Zeb physiology is that, when in dark areas, their eyes glow an eerie yellow, most likely as an evolution tactic to see predators in the dark themselves. When they were first encountered, many businesses sought to use them as cheap labor, but were stopped after a few years from Celestia & Luna. Though they have freedom, many think of Zebs as strange savages for being a new species to the galaxy who may or may not have plans to kill everyone & destroy all scientific progresses, all because they speak in rhyme and never give straight answers immediately.
"She wasn't a savage!" Coco replied "She was actually nice and, I'm not quite sure, but she may be a friend to Suri. Look, I... don't want to talk about this, Suri's out of my life and I tend to keep it that way."
"She's not going to talk to us, Spike." Trixie spoke "We need to know where Suri is at."
Suri's life is in danger.
