This was a joined chapter featuring Fictional Fanatic's character from his story Mind and magic. The letters in bold is the author talking

I’ve been walking around for three. God. Damn. Hours, and I’m still pissed! I mean, you just don't throw around trust like that. You should always trust your friends and yet they didn’t even believe her! “ *Sigh* I need some air.” I brushed the hair out of my face before looking around the bustling town. I scanned the area around me, the people, I mean ponies waved at me and I waved back, I may be in a bitter mood but it isn't right to take it out on others.

‘I just wish I could be alone for a few minutes.’ I thought to myself. Just then I remembered the forest that was near Shy’s cottage. ‘Should I take my chance with the forest?’ Eh, why not. Its not like I’m in danger or anything. Rerouting to the forest I broke into a steady jog and hoped that I would not get eaten. ‘Bitches can try to eat me.’

Thanks to my speed I made it to Fluttershy’s cottage in no time. I stopped to take in the view and smells of the land and cottage. The sun was just over the forest making it cast a shadow over me, calming me a little. That always happened with me, when I’m in a shadow or something like that I always calm down, not by much mind you but a little. It’s times like this I would love to listen to music on my phone. But sadly I didn't have it on me.

I walked slowly over to the forest and smiled as I listened to to the bugs chirp and buzz. The sounds of a proper forest. I drew a long breath and filled my nose with the musty, muddy smell of the canopy. I scanned over the edge of the forest and found a small opening followed by a small dirt path. I shuddered as I felt something wash over me. I didn’t know what it was but it went away as quick as it came. ‘Heh, heh came. I’m so dirty minded’ I thought to myself. Shaking my head clear of any thoughts as I entered the forest.

Deeper and deeper I went, the sounds of growling grew louder and louder. “ I never should have kicked that log!” I shouted as I ran for my life. I should probably explain what happened. A few minutes had passed since I entered the forest and it was doing the trick as I calmed down a lot but I still had enough anger to want to kick something and so bibbity-bobbity-boo I kicked a log, turned out to be a living animal. Sucks to be me, huh? But before I could draw my sword a whole pack appeared and pounced on me, snapping of the strap of said sword and then threw it over a HUGE opening.

So here I am. Running for my life. and here I was hoping to have a nice peaceful.- “ Oh, shit!” I shouted as I tripped over a branch jutting up from the ground and smacking my face of a rock, effectively breaking my nose. “AHH! Son of a bitch!” I shouted as I rolled over and tried to get up but it was too late. Before I knew it the pack of these wooden wolves started to cleave at me. Strips of meat and flesh were torn off me. Their claws stabbing and slicing at me as a pool of blood poured around me. “Get off!” I shouted as one of them bit into my left shoulder. “ I said, PISS OFF!” My body exploded in a barrage of blue flame, killing some of them and knocking the rest off.

My tail sprung out like a jack in a box. My teeth grew sharper and two horns of pure flame formed at the top of my head. I got to my feet and growled back at the rest of them as they slowly backed away from the flames covering my body. “ Yeah that's right...fuck off.” I clutched the wound on the shoulder as the world around me was consumed by darkness, probably from the blood loss. “I..I need to get out of here-” Just then my legs gave out and I fell to the ground writhing in pain, but the last thing I saw before falling completely out of it was a mare with a black and pink mane holding my sword.

I woke up to the smell of burning wood and the crackling of a campfire. I felt completely rejuvenated, as if I had just slept for half a day. Upon opening my eyes I found myself in a clearing, a campfire and what I previously thought was a mare turning out to be like me, a human.

“So, you’re up? I thought you’d wake up sooner. You’ve been out for half an hour.” The woman in front of me stated, with a voice I found familiar but couldn’t really place. Then I remembered the reason why I had fallen unconscious in the first place and started looking over myself. Nothing, I was completely healed, the only signs of my injuries were my cut clothes and the dried blood upon the fabric. I then remembered something else, my sword!

I quickly looked around to see if I could find my sword, then remembered that I had seen the woman hold it before I fell unconscious.

“Where is my sword?” I asked her, prepared to fight her if I had to.

“Relax, it’s right here.” She said before throwing me my sword. “I even fixed the strap for you.” She said, making me look a bit closer. Suprising me to see the strap completely fine, as if it had never been damaged.

“Name’s Blood Cleaver. Yours?” Blood Cleaver asked me.

Blood Cleaver? Doesn't suit her. “Names Jane, but you can call me Silver. May I ask? What happened?” I asked her and the more I looked at her, the more I saw her as that crazy pink mare.

“Nice to meet you Silver. May I ask what drove you out into the Everfree? If those timberwolves gave you such a hard time I hate to think what a hydra would have done to you. Besides, I feel many power levels I can’t see, so there are plenty of dangerous things around here.” She asked me.

“Oh please, hydras don't exist. And I'm out here because I am pissed as hell. And trust me if I knew that I was going to be pounced on by wolves made of fucking wood, they would be ash right now.” I said to her, already feeling angry again.

“If you say so, but about the hydras. Have you ever seen one? If not, how can you know they don’t exist? Besides, I’ve fought hydras. They can be quite a match for someone of your level.” She said, drinking something from a mug that she suddenly held in her right hand.

Where the did that mug come from? Wait is she calling me weak! “For one I have, in mythical books, the whole four head thing and if you cut one off two more grow in its place. Ha! Next you’ll be telling me dragons exist. Besides that, are you calling me weak?” I said with literal venom coming out as I finished.

“I didn’t mean it like that. So, I guess you haven’t met Spike yet… Or is he something else in this universe… I guess I’ll have to explain a few things. OK, First. How did you get here, can you remember buying something from a weird merchant in a convention or something?” She asked me.

Convention? What the hell is she on about? ‘Wait a minute.’ Suddenly, images flashed in front of me. I screamed in pain as I clutched my head, waiting for it to stop. Different memories, different thoughts. It was me, definitely, but I don’t remember doing any of it. Eventually it subsided and I looked at her, she was now holding me in her embrace.

“I swear those merchants... “ She said before sighing. “You’re one of those then. Listen, I can help you with your memories, but you have to know that all the memories you have come from two different lives. They are now both yours and not at the same time. I can help you get them all back, to make you… you again. But it will hurt, a lot.” She told me, looking at me as if she was hurting as well.

Not my memories? But what about Shiro and the monastery, what about that dream I had? No, its not true, she’s crazy. “No, I don't believe you! You expect me to think that Shiro is not my father? Well he isn’t but he’s a lot better that my true father! You're insane!” I shouted at her, I refuse to believe it. From the look that she was giving me, I may of hit a bad note.

“Okay, first of all. Don’t assume that I can read your mind. And I’m not saying whatever your memories tell you is fake, because it isn’t. It may have been before you got them, but as soon as those memories became yours they became real. So both of the lives you can remember are true, just that only one was the one you were on for the ride, the other… not so much. But it doesn't matter now. Cake?” She asked me, holding forth a big plate with a big chocolate cake topped of with magenta frosting. Already sliced into perfect pieces.

I was drooling at the sight of the cake. The rumble in my stomach making me drop the subject until later. I attempted to get up and out of the sleeping bag that I just now realized I was in. I got to my feet as soon as I was out of the bag, but now I'm tasting something weird. “Hey, why do I taste fish?”

“That would be the senzu bean I gave you, it’s also the reason why you’re all better after those timberwolves and the amount of blood you lost. They’re great in emergencies, but a pain to grow. So, what do you say? Want me to help you with those memories of yours, Silver? Or do you want to figure them out yourself, having migraine attacks at any time a day, any day until it’s done the natural way?” She asked me, still holding the plate full of cake in front of me.

Should I? Will it hurt like earlier? Meh, might as well try, but I still think she’s crazy. “Might as well, but first...cake.” I said as I licked my lips at the huge cake. She shook her head at me, while smiling.

“Okay, this will hurt just as much, or more, I’m not entirely sure, but it will only be just as short as the one you had earlier. After that your memories will be integrating at such speed that you’ll either pass out or stay paralyzed for a while. But the pain will be drowned out instantly. So get comfortable.” She said before putting away the plate with cake and motioning for me to sit on a fallen log next to her.

‘Oh joy, but what about cake?” I thought to myself as I made my way to the log and tucking my tail back in my trousers, just hoping that the log doesn’t jump up and bite me in the ass. I sat down on the log. “Wait, can I ask you to stop if it hurts too much?”

“Yes, you can. I was gonna suggest it myself. But to be honest I wouldn’t recommend stopping after beginning. There could be consequences, but in any worst case scenarios we could always ask nicely.” Blood Cleaver said. Ignoring her previous warnings about breaking the fourth wall. Behave, we’re guests here.

Yeah, yeah. Chill, I want her to feel safe so just go with it.” Blood Cleaver thought, knowing I’d get the message.

“Well then, lets go” I said, even if it was hesitantly.

Blood Cleaver sat directly in front of me and put a hand of each of my temples. “I will begin now, tell me if you want me to stop.” She said as she closed her eyes, prompting me to do the same.

A few moments passed before I felt a familiar wave pass through me before my head began to split in half. I screamed in pain as other memories came to and fro in my mind. Images from my past, like when I was five and had abusive foster parents. Man, that one sucked. Soon my sight darkened and I fell to the ground, once again, unconscious.
