1. Beginnings

I don’t remember how I got here. All I know is that I once was somewhere else; somewhere less… friendly.

I do remember my first moments here. I woke up, lying by a picture of a pony and a mirror. I looked into it and saw not what everyone else here would see. I saw… me. A unique being among this world. I don’t have any resemblance to anyone or anything. I saw a wild animal, dark orange and cream fur. All I knew was that I didn’t belong here.

Oh, and that something weird would happen. I have a sixth sense about these things.

I guess I’m just writing this in case anything does happen.

Anyway, I found that I’d woken up in a forest. Quite a dark forest too. Judging by the sun, I’d have said it was around 9am-ish. I barely had time to walk out of the forest until one of THEM spotted me. She was a very happy creature. She seemed to be feeding some white blobs…

Delicious-looking white blobs. I should have tried to get one and…. Sorry. That was off topic. Anyhow, she seemed to like the blobs hiding in their wooden house. I tried to sneak up to see her closer, she looked so calm and, for lack of a better word, cute. But being a klutz like me, I stepped on an unusually loud branch that snapped under what little weight I had. She looked up and stared me down. I was frozen, looking for an undo button. She slowly and cautiously walked over to me as I, clumsily, broke a few extra branches trying to distance myself.

By the time, I’d reached the forest; she’d started galloping, shouting things like ‘hey, come here’ and ‘please don’t run’. Without thinking, I ran at her, eyes closed, hoping to scare her but unknowingly, I ran in the wrong direction, up a hill.

As soon as I’d reached the peak, she’d closed the gap to a third of the original distance. I prayed for help, but instead was knocked head first back down at her by a powerful breeze that, for reason unknown to me then, was followed by a rainbow. I tumbled and rolled down, actually knocking into the yellow being that had followed me. She even seemed to yelp, although it sounded as though it had come from a mouse. As we slowly reached the bottom, I was getting nearer to her.

By the time we had finished, she lay on my back, facing upwards. We were both dazed so we didn’t know much except that my leg was very awkwardly placed under her that it was near to snapping at my knee. It hurt, don’t get me wrong, but when she got up, so much pain shot up my nerves that I was in a near blacked-out state. I was losing my senses and lastly, heard a quiet ‘sorry’.
