Prologue: A deal

Dipper sighed, sinking into the couch cushions. It had been a boring week at the Mystery Shack, and he wanted to relax. Of course, that would never happen if he couldn't find Mabel. Wendy was coming over to watch a movie with him, and he didn't want Mabel to ruin it as per usual. "Mabel, what are you doing?" He called, slightly rising. "Upstairsdoingnothingquitbuggingmelilbro!" Was the cheerful reply. "I'm not little!" Was all Dipper could say before the doorbell rang. "Wendy!" He cried, rising up and running to the door. After ushering his babe inside, he turned his attention toward the Mabel situation. Just leave her alone. She knows how much you care about this, she wouldn't ruin it for you, not on purpose anyways. He thought. He went and jumped onto the couch next to Wendy. " WAA-umph!" He shouted, eliciting a short squeal from Wendy. " Sooo, waddaya wanna watch Wendy?" Dipper asked. "Well, maybe this Really cool horror movie that I brought over?" Dipper smiled. Wendy was so cool! He was glad that she was friends with him. Something tugged at the back of his mind, and he looked at the stairs. Nah, he thought, turning back towards the movie. He didn't care about what Mabel was doing.

Probably bedazzling Waddles. Whatever she was doing, it wasn't important...

Upstairs, Mabel poured over the second journal. She had found it under Grunkle Stan's bed while looking for Waddles so she could bedazzle him. Ignoring the intact tags that stated who the writer was, she flipped through it, looking for something. She wanted to be able to protect Dipper. Recently Robbie had been beating him up after school. This had been going on for about a week before he had told her, due to shame. What will help me to protect Dipper? Emo Vampire? Mummy? Bill Cypher? She gasped. On the page before her was an image of Bill, along with summoning instructions. "Perfect!" She gasped aloud. If she made a deal with Bill, she could protect her brother. All Bill would probably want would be her soul. She grinned. All she would need was candles and to say Backwords Message Backwords. Easy peasy!

Bill floated in the air above her, grinning like a cat. "Look who summoned me! Mabel Pines! How do you do?" He asked, politely taking off his hat in a bow.

" Enough pleasantries Bill! I want something, and you're gonna give it to me!" Bill sighed.

"Waddaya want? A bedazzler with diamonds shaped like pigs? A dead Pacifica on your bed?" The triangle prodded.

"No, to be able to protect my brother in any situation! Although, those other things sound ni-No! Gotta protect Dipper!" Mabel sighed. Bill looked reflective for a moment.

. "All I need is your soul, and for you to understand, every time you use this power, you will pay." Mabel smiled.

"Deal!" She stuck out her hand, watching as the blue fire coating Bill's hand covered hers. "Hey, before you go, what is that blue fire made of?" Bill turned around, looking peeved.

"Nightmares." With that he flew out the window, smiling.

  "Yeesh!"Mabel frowned.

Falling. An eternal dive, forever trying to catch him before he fell. Falling. Fall is all she could do, ever would do. Down. So far. There was never an up, or a left, or a right. Just down. Down. There was never a Shack, never a sleepy little town in Oregon, no. There was just black. She fell, slower and slower, arms outstretched, trying to catch him, her brother. She screamed his name, watched the words violently rip out of her throat, floating above her like the triangle that had caused this all. Bill. She cried, tears of blood. Her bedazzler, now forgotten, watched her. She reached for it, for her brother, for life. She stiffened, bracing for an impact that would never come. She watched as he closed his eyes, his hat floating above him in an unseen wind. There never was a Grunkle Stan, a Soos, any one. Only her and dipper. Falling. She closed her eyes, clutching tightly to her favorite sweater. Dipper had made it for her, in another time, another place. She touched the pyramid on it, looking like bill. She whispered a name, the only one that mattered. She had to say it, before she surrendered to it. The voices, now gone quiet, listened. She whispered. "Goodbye Dipper." She opened her arms, welcoming the nightmares. She would do anything to save him. "Goodbye." She screamed, a blue fire opening her eyes. They glowed blue.

Dipper opened his eyes. He heard her screaming. Mabel. He looked up, seeing her, covered in a blue fire. "No...Mabel...". He whispered, crying. She floated above him, mouthing something. "Dipper."

Dipper awoke. He was back at the Shack, but where was Mabel? He leapt to his feet, remembering what had happened. "Mabel..." He staggered downstairs. Where was she? It was just a dream, right?

She would be downstairs, bedazzler in hand, right? He sunk to his knees. He couldn't believe it. His sister, who would always be there, had promised to always be there, was gone. Suddenly, he heard a noise from upstairs. "Mabel?" He staggered upstairs, heart beating faster and faster. He looked at the floor as he entered their room, noting the second journal on the floor. " Mabel?" He cried. The noise. He heard it coming from her bed. He approached carefully, lifting the covers to reveal... A pony. A grey, wall eyed mare was in Mabel's bed. "Mabel would have loved you." Dipper said, crying even more. The mare stared at him.

  "Muffins?"
