Chapter 7: Moment

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

You can never be rid of your nightmares, Rarity. And you can't run from your fears. Face them or let them kill you. Either way you're free. Choose.

Rarity could not seem to get her father out of her head. Rarity looked up at the sky, it was very early in the morning but the sun was hidden behind a curtain of grey clouds. Rarity stepped out of the hospital, the dirt roads of Ppnyville now were firmly beneath her feet. Rarity stood in the forefront of the rain that steadily fell from the sky. Normally rain is supposed to make you refreshed or sad, but Rarity felt neither. It was more of an empty cold feeling. The rain battered down on Rarity and flattened her hair, all the time she had spent on her hair was now rendered useless. Twenty minutes gone. Rarity turned and found Pinkie standing in the cold bitter rain as well. Her hair was less affected considering her hair was already flat.

Rarity could not fight the dark sadness she felt. It hurt her that this person was lost and had nowhere to go. She was a loner. A wanderer. It hurt her even more not knowing the demons and memories she has that left her so traumatized. Rarity had thought of it before but it did not have this great of an effect. The weight never settled in.

The rain steadily fell, it gave Rarity an ominous feeling. Rarity looked over at Pinkie and she simply stared at the shadows on the ground. Her eyes filled with sobriety and a hidden secret. She had a blanket draped over her shoulders. Rarity was itching to ask her what happened to her and why she acted the way that she did. Not everybody was willing to die like that. Rarity said, "Come on, lets get out of this rain quickly. Wouldn't want you catching a cold now would we."

With no further words shared, Pinkie followed close behind Rarity. Their footsteps sloshing as they step into the mud of the dirt roads of Ponyville. The town was named after the founder nearly seven hundred years ago, Dameon Ponyville. He grew up in another country town but it had been ransacked by bandits and burned to the ground. Dameon was the only survivor. For fifteen years Dameon was believed dead like all the others. But for reasons unknown, he returned and had vengeance filled in his heart. He confronted these bandits and killed the leader. The bandits were lost without a leader and decided to follow Dameon. It was then that Dameon decided to build a new town, built on the foundation of the old one. And thus began the long story of Dameon Ponyville.

Rarity had remembered that story from school, it was one that stuck with her throughout her childhood and on into her early adult years. Casually and silently they strode past the many shops of Ponyville, closed for the night and waiting for the day to break and the working day to start. Rarity decided she would not live by the hours she had in a day. Live by the moment you have now, or let it slip away into oblivion. That was what she lived by.

Rarity turned to Pinkie Pie as she asked aloud, "Rarity? Can...can I ask you something?"

Rarity responded warmly, "Of course. Ask away darling."

Pinkie's expression went dark as she lost her gaze on Rarity and she asked, "Do...do you believe in someone getting a second chance?"

Rarity's heart sank as she let the words carry sadly into her ears with the steady rhythym of the rain. It felt like a shower of despair with every drop feeling heavier than the last. Rarity answered, "I...I believe that no one is beyond the path of redemption. That even if there is the slightest chance that they can be saved, they should be. But that is not something for me to decide."

Pinkie continued her solemn stare on the shadows ahead of them. She grabbed the hem of the blanket tightly and she said, "What if...what if this person has a really dark past?...what if...what if this person killed people?"

Rarity felt the sadness Pinkie was projecting. Pinkie looked over at Rarity with big saddened eyes. Tears formed at the corners. The blanket was beginning to catch the rain and started to weigh heavily on her shoulders. More weight than she needed. Rarity answered softly, "So long as that person truly holds remorse for their actions, then they deserve a second chance."

Pinkie moved her gaze back away from Rarity and she fell silent. Rarity had a good feeling that Pinkie was talking about herself. Things were starting to add up now. She was feeling remorseful because she killed somebody but that does not explain how Pinkie made out with her no more than a few minutes ago. Rarity never thought of herself as one to like the touch of a woman. She only ever dated men, and loved it. But the way Pinkie just forced herself on Rarity it was. Eye opening. She should casted Pinkie away and scorn her for ever trying to mkae out with her. But that was not the case, she forgave her.Rarity never considered being a lesbian before. There was nothing against it but she just never thought it would be comfortable feeling the touch of a woman before. She never took into consideration how soft a woman's touch can be, or how dirty it made her feel.

Pinkie said, "I...I'm sorry if I...made you uncomfortable back there."

Rarity replied with a wave of her hand, "It's quite alright Pinkie. I just pray to Celestia that nothing like that happens again...not that I'm saying you did not handle yourself well it's just that...I don't really find interest in dating another woman. I apologize if I am being too open on the subject."

"On no you're fine," Pinkie replied, "At least we're talking about it and not pretending it did not happen....you know let's not talk about it...it's making me feel weird."

Rarity replied with a smile, "Alright darling."

And with that the air felt lighter and a little less awkward as they found themselves at Heartstrings Complex, walking on in complete silence.

Author's Notes:

Hello faithful readers! I apologize for the rather short chapter. I write until I feel the chapter is over, and I felt this chapter should be shorter one. Not my fault just the way I thought I should write. Expect things to get cereal in the next few chapters. Long and a nice good chunk. Okay, so have patience it will take me longer to post the next few chapters because of how long they shohld be.

Also, in the description I will put a link to the playlist of songs that are the titles of the chapter. To help along with reading. Okay.

See you next chapter!:raritywink:
