Chapter 2: Days to Come.

Good Bye Old Life, Rest In Peace

I expected the train ride to be long, but I still thought it was taking too long. So far I passed Ponyville and Appaloosa so the train was on its way to New Spring. I spent most of that time staring at the changing landscape as the train passed by, within these few hours I had seen so much more than I ever did from picture books it was almost too good to be true... and it was.

"Freeze!" Everypony looked forward to the front of the car, two unicorn stallions dressed in black full body jumpsuits stood at the doorway levitating shotguns at us. "No pony is a hero alright, just place all valuables in the bag and my associate and I will be on our way." I saw the images on the bags, three bones lined up like bars on a window with a smoking gun behind them, the Baltimare mafias’ insignia (AKA my parents’ employees).

Of fucking course! This is just my luck it's been over four hours they probably have every member of the 'family' looking for me, but maybe not these two. Regular head hunts are sneakier maybe they're just... 'Working'?

"Girly!" I was snapped out of my thought bubble by one of the two ponies, he levitated his shotgun against the side of my head. I could feel the cold metal send a chill down my back. "Any and all valuables and no problems little miss."

"Right." I pulled out the remaining of my stolen bits, as I was pouring them into the bag I couldn't help but think of the humor, I stole them from my family and now I'm returning them not all of them but still.

"Thank you... hey!?"

Crap!

"Those glasses look familiar."

"They're um special; they're for controlling the levels of light that I can see." I could tell he was highly skeptical from how his eyes looked. "I have sensitive eyes."

"Prescription I bet?"

Gulp. "Maybe." Crap, crap, crap!

"Then into the bag they go!" He levitated the glasses of my face so fast I had no time to react. He saw my eyes and dropped all of his levitated items including his weapon. "Holy!... Lovely is that you!?"

Why in Luna's name did my parents show me off the whole family! Without thinking I punched the unicorn in his neck so hard he fell to the ground gasping for air. When his partner turned and saw me his reaction was the same which gave me time to pick up the first unicorns shotgun and pull the trigger, I didn't hit him since the recoil from the gun propelled itself from my jaws (and probably chipped my teeth) but I was able to graze his horn and that was enough to send him on the ground in tears. "Sorry!" I ran out the cart as fast as my legs could trying to escape or rather as the circumstances left me with hide.

"Get her! The bosses have got to be worried sick!"

I ran into a storage cart filled with boxes, luggage and piles of hay for transport. I was hiding on top of the hay just under some kind of escape hatch on the roof, when the two entered the room I panicked and jumped hitting my head on the hatch. When they heard I threw it open, I had  just poked my head out  and was almost thrown off from the wind pushing against me, I managed to stabilize myself and walked to the end of the train. When I turned around the two stallions were standing right there blocking the way to the rest of the train.

Of the two the stallion the one I had grazed with the shotgun stepped forward slightly. "Lovely you have to come home! Your parents are probably worried sick!"

"I'm not ever going back to that gilded cage!" I felt a small tear escape my eye.

"Your parents gave you everything! So why did you run away!?"

I noticed up ahead a small bridge that that lead the tracks over a deep ravine in the distance and although this plan was both suicidal and an overused movie cliché it was all I had. "You want to know why? I left because of the ponies the family lets in! The only reason you ponies are in this mafia is because you agreed to both never speak of me outside of the family and to accept me the way I am, no questions and I'm sick of it because you all lied, you never took that promise seriously and never even got to know who I am!" Got to time this jump just right.

"Of course we meant that promise Lovely! Otherwise we wouldn't be on the roof of a train trying to get you off and safely home!"

"Lies! Your just up here because you want to gain ranks in the family. I bet if you came back without me your heads will roll when they find out!" Almost…

The two looked at each other then back to me, the stallion I shot speaking again. "Find out what?"

When the stallion finished speaking I jumped. The distance was even longer than I thought and I was moving so fast I don't think either one had the time nor strength to try and levitate me up. I was scared but I also felt at peace while falling, I imagined this is what flying was like and I was wishing to be a Pegasus because the impact on the water's surface was going to hurt. When I hit the waters surface I got the wind knocked out of me, which didn't help since I was now Luna knows how deep in fast moving water. I remember kicking and trying to fight the current but I had no success the only other thing I remembered before blacking out was something tugging my mane and from the pain I felt it managed to tear a chunk of it off of my head, the pain made me scream the last of the air out of my lungs and all faded to black.

The air was thick and cold for a night with a full moon, Gold Trot and Light Brade frantically look around holding flashlights in their mouths followed by a dozen ponies dressed in black suits holding and levitating flashlights all around the ravine.

"Lovely! Where are you?!" Light Brade screams out into the cold air, her voice getting weaker with every scream due to hours of restless use. "Lov..." Brade's voice cuts off, she begins to cough yet despite the pain she still tries yelling only to cough up blood. Gold Trot runs over to Brade, aiding her.

"Sir! We found something!" Gold Trot walks Brade over to the lake where three of the ponies stand with flashlights pointed at a large fallen tree branch, where the light shines a chunk of Lovely's hair sits tangled in the sticks. Pieces of skin are still attached in a thin chunk with dry blood staining the bottom side of flesh. "I'm sorry sir. An injury like that from a fall this high..."

"No, its fine I understand." Tears start running down Gold Trots eyes; Light Brade drops to the ground her face in an unbelievable expression as tears come flooding out of her eyes. "Come now Light Brade we have a funeral to prepare."
