On My Own

Home, it supposed to be a place of rest, a place of joy and a place where the ones who love you are. Today I'm searching for that place leaving my parents and their rules about not going outside and running as far and as fast as I can. I understood why my parents did what they did, but so what if the iris of my eyes are heart-shaped and pink and the pupils are as white as the sclera and so what if the iris' pulsate outward around the sclera... Damn it if they didn't have a point.

Physically I'm your average tan coated, blond-haired earth pony... well maybe a bit of a build smaller and my cutie mark is the same as my eyes (minus the pulsing) but I don't care I'm leaving, I am at the train station with a pair of sunglasses on my face and...

"Miss?" The ticket pony broke me out of my thoughts. "Miss, what is your destination?"

"Oh, uh..." Crap I didn't think of where to escape. "Don't suppose you would recommend any place small and isolated?"

"The only places that the train will stop like that would be Appaloosa, Ponyville and a small town outside of Trottingham called New spring."

Ponyville's all famous now because of the new princess. I've read about Appaloosa and its way to dry for me, guess I get lucky number three. "A one way ticket to New spring."

"That will be thirty seven bits."

Thank Luna I stole eighty bits from my parents. After the ticket pony gave me the ticket I waited on a bench next to the loading station, I saw a couple sitting across from me I saw their love, the beautiful colors floating around them mixing into one I felt jealous till the stallion noticed me staring and I turned away, pretending I was looking elsewhere. "Damn when will the train get here?"

I looked at a schedule somepony had thrown in the trash and saw my train was to come at six AM, it was ironically six minutes away and I was surprised that I couldn't hear the train... then again I was surprised I found the train station, Baltimare is a large city and I've never been outside until now. "Rumble, Rumble" What the hell is that!? The ground is shaking but it doesn't feel like an earthquake. Then I turned to the tracks and saw the giant metal engine of the train. Sweet Celestia that is huge and it's not done I can still see more!

When the train finally came to a stop it looked like hundreds of ponies came flooding out on to the station from the passenger carts. I honestly thought the train held an entire city on it. A pony dressed in a blue vest and hat came out last holding a stopwatch in his hoof then yelled out. "All aboard!"

Guess this is my train. Upon approaching the door a Pegasus mare, yellow with baby blue hair dressed in the same vest and hat as the stallion from earlier stopped me. "Ticket miss?" Oh right. I showed her the ticket and she took out a small metal thing gripped in her mouth and punched a hole in the corner of my ticket and let me pass. When I got into a passenger cart I was shocked that still so many ponies were in it despite the large amount that exited. I would have preferred sitting alone but that was clearly out the window, so I sat next to an elderly pony and his young, I assumed grandchildren. The young foals gave me an odd stare but ended up poking at each other for entertainment, that made the elderly pony laugh a little and I‘ll admit I gave a small chuckle.

"Everypony the train will be departing in two minutes, please take your seats." The stallion with the watch yelled out from the front of the cart. It was then that I remembered around six AM is when my parents wake up... Thank Luna Baltimare is a big city and that this train is leaving they are going to throw a cow.

Back in Baltimare a large Mansion that sits atop a ten acre slot of land is up and about with barking dogs and large earth ponies dressed in black suits running around the large estate. Within the kitchen of this large home at the counter sits a grey coated mare with tan hair hunched over crying puddles onto the counter, her cutie mark a pink diamond with a blue outline. A blond coated stallion with black mane and tail with a gold ring cutie mark torts across the room looking nervous and angry all at once. One of the ponies dressed in black walks in. "Sir Gold Trot."

"Have you found her?" The blond stallion asked.

"No sir, she is nowhere on the property, the men have looked it over eight times over."

The mare cries even harder at the news, the puddle turning into a large mess flowing over the counter. The stallion stomps on the fine tile floor, smashing one of the tiles into pieces. "Damn it, she has never left the estate and she has no knowledge of the city or where any place is! She could be lost in that modern jungle."

"I think she has an idea sir, bring her in!" On Queue two more ponies dressed in black walk in dragging an orange coated unicorn mare, green hair and tail with a cutie mark of an apple with the letters ABC in the center. "Miss Bright has taught Lovely more than just the essentials."

"Like what!?" Gold Trot demanded.

The pony places maps of the city across the floor with many roads and places highlighted. "Geography."

Gold Trot walked over to Bright giving a hateful tear filled stare. "You helped my daughter escape!"

"She can't live in this gilded cage you've forced her to call home her whole life! She is a pony like any other if the world accepts her or not depends on who she is not her family and I am not telling you which train station she went to so go ahead and kill me you mafia bastards! I always knew you were going to be the death of me anyway."

'Bang' With the sudden sound of gunfire Bright falls to the floor blood spewing out of her neck where a bullet has torn a small hole through her jugular, the ponies in the room look over to the mare, tears still flowing out of her eyes down her cheeks as she drops the smoking gun from her mouth and speaks. "Search every station in the city and access the security cameras recordings, Lovely must have been seen by one of them now go or share that bitches grave!"

The ponies in black exit the room quickly while Gold Trot walks over to comfort his wife. "Sixteen years since you have killed a pony Light Brade."

"I wanted to shut her up, she knows nothing about how ponies are in the real world Gold, for all we know Lovely could have been captured by a rival mafia already, you know the Manehattan Mafia has been looking for an edge, what if they!?"

Gold Trot places his hoof around his panicked wife. "No other mafia group knows about Lovely, that's part of the reason we never let her outside remember?"

"Yes I know but I still worry, they can plant spies just as easily as we can and leak everything we know."

"As true as that is it's our last worry at the moment darling, once we find the station that Lovely skipped town at we just have to get that trains list of stops it made. After that we just search every town and city it stopped at, as long as we look without making it look like we are searching for a pony she won't try to run out on us."

"But why did she run away! We gave her everything literally, so why did she leave!?"

"Did you forget? She is our daughter remember when we got married and ran away from our homes."

Light Brade gives a faint smile, still crying rivers from her eyes. "Yes... Maybe we shouldn't have told her all those stories about when we were young then?"

"Nonsense, after we find her and give her a good scolding we’ll hear her story and her bad experiences out in the world."

"I just hope she will be alright out there. By any chance did she take any money?"

"When I woke up my wallet was open and missing eighty bits."

"Why take eighty? She has around seven hundred bits in that allowance chest of hers."

"Beats me. Oh and one of the guards said his sunglasses were missing from the shelf before she was discovered missing."

"Well it's not much to go on but it's better than nothing I suppose, anything for her cutie mark?"

"All her clothes were still there, nothing from her room was missing... except her of course."

"Thank Celestia, we can track her down with that, we have the photos from when she got it so to avoid putting a face to her we..."

"What happened to making the search unnoticeable?"

"I'm a panicking mother I don't do unnoticeable!"

Gold Trot took a step back from his wife with a face of slight fear. "Right, well I'll look over the maps for the best possible places and you get the search parties ready."

Light Brade trots out of the room wiping the tears from her coat. Gold Trot gathering the maps together looks back around to the door then back to the maps. "I love that mare."
