Here I am laying in my bed. Not knowing what I am going to make of myself tomorrow. Am i going to go out into town, or I don't know study up on my duty's as an alicorn. All this seems so complicated to me. Someones opening the door I had better be quite.

"Roy are you  still awake?" Celestia says as she pokes her head through the door.

"Yes." I reply trying to sound tired.

"I know our parents died, but i gotta tell you something they told me on their deathbeds when you were ou-" Celestia tries to finish, but i cut her off.

"What is it?" I reply in a tone that has a bit of impatience.

"Let me finish!" She spits back.

"Ok ok continue." I say trying to not get here too agitated.

"As I was saying Roy They wanted me to tell you after they died. That they had not figured out what you were born to do yet, so it's up to you to figure that out, but me and Luna are determined to help you figure out why you are here." She tries to explain in a caring tone.

"get out." I reply to her in a soft voice

"Why Roy?" Celestia asks wondering what has gotten into me

"Get Out!" I roar at her from under my blankets

Then and there celestia left me laying there with tears in my eyes. I didn't want her to see me cry, but why were my own parents unable to tell this to my face were they really that heartbroken they were unable to tell me so they sent celestia.  .  . I am unhappy with their decision I would have loved to see them in their final moments tell me they didn't figure out what i was supposed to do with my life, BUT NOW I'M LEFT WITH NOTHING. I scream out in frustration.

I woke up the next morning changed. I went grabbed my breakfast, and went back to my room locked the door with my wings and ate in silence while thinking to myself.

"Roy you sent for me, and can you open up." I look up with interest as the head of the guards finally knocks on the door.

"Sure" I reply trying to hint nothing to the plan I had just hatched.

I get out of bed and walk my way over to the door and unlock it.

"Why was the door locked? were you doing something?" The head of the guard tries to say this with a small grin popping onto his face.

"I was thinking  about something." I replied thinking of how I should word what I was gonna say without hinting i was gonna escape during the rising of the moon tonight.

"About what?" The head guard asks with a bit too much curiosity.

"Learning how to fly." I finally tell him after thinking for 3 minutes.

"That is a difficult task my prince." He says to me a bit bewildered with what he just heard.

"I know it is that's why i want you to teach me." I tell him with the hint of plenty of impatience.

"Roy I don't think i c-" The head guard tries to tell me before i cut him off with raise of my hoove.

"It's an order not a suggestion." I reply with a tone of authority.

"yes my prince." Says the heard guard who isn't too happy about my decision.

So the head-guard takes me out to the fields that are just outside the castle.

"Ok Roy flying is a difficult thing to learn especially at your age you think you are up for the challenge" he tries to tell me this with a tone of this might be a bit too hard for you so why don't you stick to doing other things right now kind of tone.

"yes." I reply daringly.

"Good, so spread your wings a bit like this, because i know your wings are a bit stiff from no use, and stretch them out." The head guard tells me with enthusiasm since he now knows i'm not giving up until i learn how to fly.

I do what the head-guard tells me to do, and as i stretch my wings you can hear continues pops coming from the muscles that are screaming relief at last!

"That must mean they aren't stiff anymore."The head of the guards replies to me in a simple tone.

"They don't feel stiff." I tell him after the series of popping finishes.

"That's a good thing, because i want you to start jumping and fluttering your wings as hard, and as fast as you can." He replies to me trying to make it sound like a good way to learn.

"I feel like i'm going to look like a complete idiot." I say trying to not give up on this entire thing because i would have to do that.

"Many fillys feel like that when they start but it does work, so I want you to try it." He says as he sits down like hes ready for a circus show.

So there I was stumbling in the field trying to learn how to fly, but who knew the guards technique actually worked I was able to hover for about 10 seconds, but no more.

"I finally floated right?" I am barely able to sputter out as I start regaining my breath.

"That was just floating. Flying is much more difficult." He says while biting the side of his lip trying to not fall on the floor and start laughing.

"Uuuuugh." I say even more unenthusiastic than before.

"at least you have floating down." He says trying to cheer me up a bit more before we start the next exercise.

"Ya just give me a sec I need to catch my breath." I reply still with barely enough air in my tiny lungs.

"Ok but when you finally get your breath back i want you to throw your body weight in the direction your trying to fly." He says finally able to stop laughing and ready for another onslaught of laughter.

Once again i was looking like an idiot I could hear Luna all the way from a castle tower laughing her ass off. Oh how much I wanted to stop doing this, but it did pay out in the end with me being able to fly for a simple 15 minutes at a speed of 5 mph.

"Ok my prince that is all I can teach you, you must practice if your going to be able to fly longer and faster." He says walking back into the castle laughing like a maniac.

"I'm going to leave that for another time." I reply tired of being laughed at today

I headed back to my chambers being too lazy to close the doors behind me. I fell down on my bed with such a thud the guard at the entrance to my room peaked in. Luna walked in after sharing a few words with the guard outside, then walked in.

"HELLO ROY!"  Luna says in her regular booming voice.

"MY EARS!" I scream trying to sound just as loud.

"My bad i forgot to stop doing that. . . . everywhere." She replies as we both hear the guard at the front of my room chuckling.

"As long as you don't do it in a closed area i'm ok with it but in my room you shatter pony brains while doing that." I say gaining my ear drums back.

"I said sorry." Luna replies with a sheepish grin on her face.

"I know just wanted to make sure you knew that you forget to stop doing that around me." I say reminding her of what she did.

"Enough talk of me shattering your ears and more talk about what i wanted to talk about. I saw you hopping around earlier." Luna says with her grin slowly spreading.

"Don't you dare." I say as she starts to open her mouth.

""You looked so ridiculous i was rolling on the tower floor crying." Luna says as i lay on my bed staring at her laughing as she relives the memory

Then and there you could hear celestia's voice throughout the castle "LUNA COME RAISE THE MOON!", and that ended our conversation as Luna kinda stumbled out of my room, and as the moon rose i saw my chance because the whole castle turned pitched black then, and there I shot out of the room with all the force i could grabbed my pack, and jumped out the window.That is what i was thinking of doing in my room when it was locked. It was the only way I was going to get out of the castle, and find my purpose.

So with my small wings, and my pack I flew away from the castle in canterlot away from almost everything I owned away from my sisters away from safety away from my regular life away from who I use to be. Next Chapter: The Everfree Forest Estimated time remaining: 40 Minutes
