Ch.1- Prolouge

It was a beautiful night, Luna’s moon shining magnificently on the night sky, the stars twinkling like fireflies scattered across the sky. The wind was blowing hard, making the Everfree dance by the sway of the leaves and moan as the branches shook to and fro against the torrents.

"Get her!!! Don't let her leave with the child!!!."

The only other sound was the flapping of a black cloak, tied around the neck of a four-legged shadow, the face hidden under a dark hood. The mysterious figure seemed to be in a hurry, running easily between the trees of the forest, heading towards the center of the Everfree. Several other figures followed the first one determine to catch her.

"I think I see her!"

Not far now; the figure was nearly there, jumping fluidly over rocks and easily avoiding large logs on the ground. The wind was helpful in masking any noises, but the cloaked creature didn’t want to take any chances when it came to the mission at hand.

'I cant let them catch me, I promised her, I wont let him become his father.'

The edge could be seen now, the grass lit by the magnificent light of the moon. No trees were there to shroud the earth in darkness. The destination was in sight.

"Kaa! Attack when ready!"

The soft hitting against the ground started to slow from a run to a cautious walk. The hooded stranger came out into the open, looking to the right, then the left.

The castle. It was right there. Nobody was in sight, not even her pursuers

Lifting a paw, the figure reached into a the cloak, removing a small blue bag, soft crying could be heard. The small figure opened the bag and revealed a small newborn baby dragon, it had dark purple scales, black spines traveling down his body, two small black horns sprouting from the sides of his head, tears were threating to escape his large yellow eyes.

"Shh! Shh! Shh!, Stay quiet hatchling, you don't want to attract attention do you?"

A twig snapping was heard from behind.

"Hehehe, I'm afraid thatssss a bit to late Nyx..."

The small figure scowled and turned towards to the new voice.

"Kaa..."

Kaa was a large python, with dark green scales, two small red fangs sticking out of his mouth, large colorful eyes, his eyes showed a hint of madness.

"Nyx, why drag thissss out any longer, you can't win." Kaa was slithering closer. "Just give usss back the child, and I promise, he will live a promising future." Kaa was right in front of Nyx's face using his tail to lift her head.

Nyx brought up her paw, claws sprouting from them, and brought them down to Kaa's face. "I will never hand him over to the likes of you!"

The snake hissed in pain, and glared at the attacker. "I wish it didn't have to come to thissss, you could of been part of something greater." Several other figures appeared behind Kaa. "But oh well, I guesss I will have to let them do the talking."

Kaa slithered away allowing the others to come forward, the smallest was a large beetle about the size of a foal, two large pincers snapped at her. The second was green chameleon about the same size of the beetle slightly larger, a large curved red horn was sticking out of his nose. The third was a large lavender bat, sporting a small white mane.

The three moved closer towards Nyx, until they had her backed up against a tree.

"You know things could've been much more easier if you justsss cooperated."

Nyx closed her eyes, feeling a sense of dread, dread because she wasn't able to keep her promise, dread because she failed.

*WHOOSH*

"ARGH!"

Hearing the scream Nyx opened her eyes and gasped, there standing in front her was the three animals unconscious, on top of them was a large vulture glaring down at Kaa.

"Ka-Ka-Ka-KABAL!!!!" Kaa stuttered fearfully.

"Kaa..."  The vulture spat out his name with disgust.

"Wh-What are you doing here?" Kaa eyes lit up. "Have you come to help?" Seeing the vulture growl at him, immediately got the message. "Or have you come to help the traitor."

Seeing the vulture's wings flare, Kaa wisely kept his mouth shut.

"Listen here and listen well Kaa." Kabal grabbed Kaa by the throat. "You tell Kronos that we're through working for him, GOT THAT!!!" Kaa shook his head. "And if I ever see you again, I'll slit your throat and laugh as you choke on your own blood." Kabal brought him closer. "understand?"

"Crystal" Kaa weakly muttered.

"Good." Kabal released Kaa from his talons. "Now, get out of my sight!" Kaa used his tail to grab his unconscious ally's and slithered away fearful for his life.

"Now that, that's over-*OOF*"

Kabal was suddenly tackled to the floor by a very grateful Nyx. "Oh~ Thank you, thank you, thank you."

Kabal gently pushed Nyx off of him. "Hehe, just saw you were in trouble there, thought you could use the help."

Nyx smiled, and took of her cloak, revealing a regular sized black cat, with a crescent moon on her forehead. "Still, thank you."

Nyx walked towards the sleeping baby drake and carried him towards the abandoned castle.

After a long 20 minutes Nyx sighed in relief, finally arriving in front of the castle throne room, the blue bag still held firmly by her mouth.  Walking gingerly over to the throne, she stopped and lowered her neck, gently laying the bag on the ground, and taking out the sleeping drake, Nyx gently set the baby drake down to throne.

"Goodnight little one, may you have pleasant dreams."

Nyx yawned and layed down on top of the drake going to sleep. Kabal stayed awake making sure that no one could disturb them from their slumber, completely unaware of consequences of his actions .
