Chapter 30
Bring forth the catastrophe.

Nova and Luna trotted joyfully through the castle hallways towards the main gate, Princess of the Night already put an illusion spell on herself so they didn’t have to worry about other ponies noticing them. Without worries and with big hopes for fun the unusual couple made their way into the city of Canterlot, ever since Nova moved to this city he managed to see almost every part, every brick of this magnificent town.

Except one place, Canterlot’s most fancy street known by normal ponies as “Posh Street” he never went there as there was nothing he could be interested in, or so he thought until tonight.

Supernova followed Luna and soon they were placing their hooves on the most prestigious place in whole Equestria. He didn’t want to admit it, but the “Posh Street” left him more than impressed, he couldn’t help but stare in awe at magnificent baronial buildings with beautiful stained glasses which shone in the moonlight.

“Incredible,” He said as his gaze landed upon one of the most high-rise buildings he ever saw, “what is this?”

“Oh that?”—she pointed her hoof at the building in question—“That’s one of the best hotels in Canterlot, it’s called ‘Grand Tour’.”

“A bit weird name for a hotel.” He said and almost fell over on the loose brick. “The richest part of the city and still things like that happen.” He commented quietly under his nose.

“I have to agree with you, but the staff and rooms are more than outstanding, believe me.”

“All right”—he scratched the back of his head—“I’ll have to believe you on this one, it’s not like I’ll ever get enough money to get a room there.”

Luna chuckled. “Are you forgetting you’re dating the Princess?”

Nova put his left front leg under his chin. “You’re right I am,” he sighed, “sometimes it is hard to remember all of these mares you know.”

Luna shoved him lightly on his shoulder, “I hope you’re joking.”

“Oh no, I am dead serious, I mean look at me”—he puffed out his chest—“I could have any mare if I wanted to.”

Luna stopped for a second and stared at her coltfriend who was flexing his muscles as hard as he could. After few moments Nova heard something weird and looked over to Luna, who in fact was barely holding her laughter in.

“Oh ha ha ha.”—he moved closer to the Princess of the Night—“The truth is you just can’t stand how handsome I am can you?”

That was it for Luna who burst out in laughter, she barely could stand on her legs as she brought the attention of everypony present around towards herself with her laughter.

Nova just stared at her with grave look on his muzzle, it took few moments for Luna to calm herself down and gather few breaths her lungs needed so much. “Pheew, sorry for that Nova, now we can, Nova?” She raised her head and looked around as her coltfriend was nowhere to be seen, until she finally spotted him near one of the buildings, talking to some ponies, all of them—except the mare who wore a very clingy red dress—were dressed in black tuxedos.

Luna raised her eyebrow and tiled her head slightly, she started to walk forward the group which consisted of four ponies and her coltfriend, as she was getting closer she could finally hear their conversation.

“Look, she’s coming over to us,” One of tuxedo stallions said, “are you sure you don’t know this, uncouth lady?” He asked with his head held high.

“Of course Sir Guldenviel, why would I associate myself with this crazy mare.” Nova answered in the best posh accent he could muster.

Luna stopped, she chuckled and walked forwards towards the group until she finally made it. “Sir Supernova?” She asked, “Are you Sir Supernova?” She repeated.

“Yes indeed, and who are you?” He asked in narcissistic tone.

She bowed before him and continued her speech from her lowered position. “I came with a message from Princess of the Night, shepherd of dreams, ruler of the moon and a star that shines upon—“

“What’s the message?” Nova cut her off, Luna only snorted quietly in response to his lack of manners and continued.

“Princess of the Night awaits you in the Castle of Canterlot Sir Supernova, she said it is a very important task that she prepared for you.”

The whole’s group jaws almost hit the floor once Luna finished her dialogue, Nova barely stifled his laughter but in the end he managed to say his last words being dead serious. “So I must go if my Princess needs me, farewell my friends we shall meet again.”

“W-Wait a moment,” Guldenviel said, “maybe you could meet us with the Princess? And get her to know us?” He asked while rest of his companions nodded.

’I can’t believe they actually fell for that’ Was what Nova thought at this moment, he turned around and shook his head. “Sadly my friends I can’t, I have duties to perform and there’s no time for some loose meetings.” He raised his chin as high as he could and started to leave. “Maybe one day you will be deemed worthy of becoming Princess’s friends, goodbye for now.” And so he and Luna left the place leaving them dumbfounded.

“I don’t really know what was the point of this performance of ours, but I sure enjoyed it.” Nova said.

“Indeed, I know these ponies very well, Guldenviel often comes to mine or Celestia’s court only to whine about how he has to pay too many taxes”—she give a few more laughs and sighed—“I’m glad we could at least make him feel frustrated.”

“And here I thought that our Princesses love and protect everypony big or small.” He said with a smirk on his face, Luna smiled as they walked past another big building which had a bottle of wine curved on its wooden doors.

“We sure do, it’s just that some ponies need to get punished.”

“Now that sounded really dangerous, however”—Supernova leaned in much closer to Luna and whispered to her ear—“do I deserve to be punished?”

Princess of the Night felt shivers going down her spine and through her whole body, she bit her bottom lip and took a deep breath before speaking. “No my dear you’re far from being on that list.” They passed through another corner and headed straight forward.

“Well I tried,”—he shrugged—“so where’s this restaurant you were talking about?”

“Right there Nova.” Luna stopped and so did her coltfriend, his gaze slowly moved from Princess of the Night towards the restaurant.

His jaw fell down and his eyes widened as his eyes saw the outstanding piece of architecture right in front of him. The building wasn’t very wide but it was extremely high, with what seemed like tens of floors, Nova couldn’t even see the top from here. “How did I not spot this thing before?!”

“It’s the second highest building in our city, right after Castle,” Luna started to explain, “however you can’t pretty much notice it from anywhere else aside from what you and your friends call ‘Posh Street’, because of mountains and magic blocking the vision.”

“Magic?” Nova asked confused.

Luna sighed. “That’s a bit embarrassing, but rich ponies decided that they don’t want the poor to watch them eat so the top of the building is covered in special illusion.”

“Now that is that thing.”

Luna cocked her eyebrow, “That thing?” She asked.

“That thing that makes me want to punch those guys.”

Princess of the Night chuckled. “I can see where you’re coming from, but we can’t do anything about it.” She moved closer to Nova and leaned into him leaving her head resting on his shoulder. “Rather lets enjoy ourselves tonight, without anypony interrupting.”

Nova nodded. “You’re right.” He agreed and the duo walked forward towards the doorway of fancy restaurant, waiter who stood at the entrance asked for their reservation, he quickly made sure everything’s fine and called another waiter to guide them to their table.

After Luna and Nova left the scene waiter stood on his post and greeted pony after pony, but then when he was in middle of checking reservation of young couple, he heard somepony speaking from behind him.

“Excuse me, I would like to enter if that’s not a problem.”

Waiter sighed and slowly started to turn around towards the source of the voice. “Well Miss, if you have a reservation then that’s absolutely not a prob—“ Last words didn’t manage to leave his throat as his breath was taken away, he gulped and smiled dumbly. “W-What I wanted to say is, for you there’s always a reservation.”

He moved away from the entrance. “My highness.”

“Thank you kindly.” Celestia said and entered the restaurant, her expression was grave serious and her eyes were full of curiosity. “Well then Mr. Supernova, let’s have a talk.”
