This was it, the final battle. Midnight Kindle, against Steel Screwball. Two ponies on each side, brought together as one in a battle to either save all of creation, or to destroy. They were still standing in Ponyville near the center of the small town, many craters and much destruction had already scarred the small town along with quite a few injuries to much of the populace. But that didn't matter at this moment. The only thing that would matter, was to finally bring down the hammer upon Screwball to end her attempt at destroying everything in existence.

"Screwball, please stop this. Don't you realize that if you succeed, you will also die?" Midnight shouted through the armor on Kindle.

"I know I'll perish along with everything else. That's my plan you idiot. Destroy all of creation with me along with it." She snorted back.

"But why? Can't you understand that there are countless planets out there other than this one the houses life? There are literally an infinite number of realities as well with countless other lives, and you're going to stand there and tell me it's ok to destroy all of that because you are just pissed off at the world because it isn't going your way?" He shouted back.

"Yes!" She laughed as it began to turn into a slightly more insane cackle, her eyes literally swirling around in her head.

"Midnight, I fear that when she combined with Steel, she sped up the insanity process that comes with the elemental spell. She is exuding the symptoms far stronger that her normal insanity." Celestia spoke out as another loud crack split across the sky.

"Insanity? Wait, you mean this elemental spell causes insanity?" Kindle spoke out in shock.

"Yes, but I think we can counter it, but first things first." Midnight stated as the armor let out a puff of smoke. "Time to kick some ele-MENTAL ass!" He chuckled causing the crowd to groan out as the combined ponies bolted in a burst of fire toward Screwball. She still cackling like mad even when they hit her.

"So how exactly did you plan on defeating me?" Screwball laughed as she brought a hoof up and swung it at Kindle. She ducking out of the way as she opened her mouth and let a plume of fire burst forth with enough intensity to cause part of her mane to melt away.

"I figured I'd melt you down and turn you into a door stop. Or a really nice toilet. That way I can shit on your grave daily!" Kindle shouted as she let loose another plume of fire but missed as Screwball kicked her away.

"I'll show you the proper way to make a door stop!" Screwball laughed as a large door manifested in her hooves as she spun around, hitting Kindle with it and knocking her back through the sky before bolting after her.

"Midnight!" Kindle shouted as she couldn't regain control of her trajectory.

"On it!" He shouted back as a set of fire wings erupted from her back causing her to flip backwards as she finally regained control.

"We're going to have to do something desperate in order to beat her Kindle, Can you handle unrestrained power?" He spoke out as they watched Screwball getting closer.

"Unrestrained? You mean you've been holding back?!" She shouted in disbelief.

"I've had to! My mind is still human and can't handle all of the power. But If we don't go all out, it will all be for naught." He stated as he quickly opened his stash portal and pulled out a potion. "Drink this, it will temporarily give us an endless supply of magic." Midnight stated as Screwball was getting closer as each second passed by.

Kindle quickly down the potion, shuddering at the bitter taste. She threw the bottle at Screwball who pulled an arm up and smashed it as she plowed into the fire pony. They grappled in the air, swinging madly at one another for a few seconds until Kindle's back hooves bucked Screwball back a hundred feet from her. At that moment Kindle felt her magic throb in her head as time began to slow for her and Midnight. She looked forward to Screwball as she seemed to slow down to a tenth of her speed as she lunged at her.

"What the hell?" Kindle thought for a moment.

"You like? It's my haste spell. It increases speed by however much magic you put into it. We have maybe five minutes of strong magic usage with my haste spell at this pace, so make it count." He spoke out causing her to grin evilly toward Screwball.

"All I need is a few seconds to gather enough magic to put her down." She grinned as her horn lit up into a blistering white as she quickly began to fall back in order to continue her magic gathering.

After falling back into Ponyville, she landed back into the center of town just as she had gathered enough magic into her horn to cast what would be her final spell to end the fight. Screwball, during this event had been gathering magic into her horn as well.

"You ready for this night?" Kindle asked.

"No time like the present." He chuckled as they bolted toward Screwball.

"Time to die you ingrates!" Screwball shouted back as she bolted toward the two ponies.

Time seemed to come to a crawl as the ponies made the hundred yard dash to one another, as they got closer to one another, they pulled back their heads before thrusting them forward, headbutting one another and letting there gathered magic release from their horns. Kindle smirked into Screwball's face as she jumped back. Screwball stopped as a pain expression covered her face, her body beginning to glow brightly.

"What spell did you use on her?" Midnight asked as they watched the pony fall to the ground screaming out in agony.

"Its a heat curse, It causes whatever it is cast on to heat up until it melts, ignites, crumbles, or explodes. Its also to quick for a counter spell." She grinned as she watched the metallic pony writhe as she began to melt.

"You aren't as lucky as you think." Screwball shouted as she grinned through the pain toward Midnight Kindle. "Let's see how you like being in a stone prison for all eternity." She laughed maniacally before she finally melted fully. the large puddle of molten metal finally stopped glowing and began to loose its red glow just as Midnight Kindle felt the pain and weight of stone encasing their body.

"What?! No! She can't have seriously cursed............us........." Midnight's words began to slow as the pony covered in armor began to become more rigid. The two looking to Celestia and the Elements as a tear fell from her eye and rolled down her cheek. It fell toward the ground and let out a small thud as it to turned to stone just before impact.

Everyone looked on at the statue pony covered in armor. There was a silent weep that started and gradually grew as everypony within the small town wept for their fallen friends. Celestia coming over and giving a small sniffle as she let her tears flow freely. Starlight and Marina, along with the crusaders and the elements coming forward to also pay their respects.

"Momma?" Starlight spoke out while looking at the statue.

"Yes my baby?" She asked as she pulled the foals into her embrace.

"Is daddy going to be ok?" He asked as he looked to the statue. Marina and the others joining his glance.

"I'm sure he will be fine." She said as they all wept silently.

It had been three weeks since the battle to save creation. Canterlot was still in the process of being rebuilt as many ponies from all over Equestria came to help. Twilight with the aid of Luna and Celestia had turned all of the ponies that had been turned to stone by Screwball back into their original forms. All except one, Midnight Kindle had been exposed to far to much magic while being cursed. This in turn made it impossible to return them to normal.

During the aftermath of the war with Screwball, Discord had returned to help lend a hand in the reconstruction of Canterlot, as well as to help with any other tasks that needed tending to. He would constantly travel into the garden to see the statue of his friend as he continued to protect his friend as her armor. Looking up to the healed sky he gave a faint smile as he gave a silent prayer for his friends.

"I know you aren't dead you two. Just rest though, until we can find a way to get you two back." He sighed as he gave the statue a pat on the back before heading back into the castle to help in the rebuild.

During those few weeks after Midnight and Kindle had been turned to stone along with Screwball's defeat. Twilight, Rarity, and Applejack had not slept well, or eaten almost nothing as they were hit the hardest by the loss of their loved one. The three were always together in the library, hoping and praying that Celestia, Luna, or some other powerful being could undo the curse placed onto their loved one.

"Twilight, darling................. Is there nothing in any of your spell books that can tell us how to cure our stallion?" Rarity asked as she looked to the purple unicorn sitting behind a stack of books, silently reading through yet another book on curses.

"I'm afraid not. I've looked through every reference guide and spell book in the library at least a dozen times now. and I still haven't found a cure." Twilight sighed as she close yet another book before rubbing her eyes.

"Well ah ain't givin up." Applejack stated with a snort. "If'n ah can do anything teh help, then jes ask." Applejack stated as she gave a determined smile while wiping a tear from her cheek.

"While you are in the market selling your goods AJ, ask anypony if they know about any books that could have a spell to cure a stonification curse. Rarity, you do the same. In the meantime, I'll do some traveling to see if there are any book stores, or libraries in Equestria that might have one within them that could have a cure." Twilight stated causing her friends to look at each other in worry.

"Twilight dear, what about your studies? What about Spike and the library?" Rarity asked as she looked around the room at the mess of books scattered about during their scavenging for the book that would aid them in returning Kindle and Midnight back to normal.

"I'll take Spike to Canterlot, The library on the other hoof will be attended by another pony while I am on my journey." She stated as she began to fill her saddlebag.

As she finished filling her bags, she was brought into a hug by her two friends. She hugging them back before pulling away as he horn lit up and teleported herself to Canterlot.

"I do hope that Twilight can find a counterspell quickly." Rarity stated as she leaned on Applejack.

"Me to sugarcube............ me to....."Applejack sighed as they looked at the now silent library before them.
