Chapter 179: 178. Death and planning for the end

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

Dragonia, a huge island almost the size of Equestria itself, and very close to its borders as well. Filled with huge dragon's of all shapes and sizes, most who could breathe fire and are almost completely immune to the magic that is within this world. A hard target indeed that would be a challenge for any culture or race that would be adept in magic usage. But what about elemental magic? Yes, that is the question. Would Forge and Ice be able to strike down these monstrous beasts? The answer to that question is, kind of.

The two ponies appeared in the land of the dragons, separating from each other as they began to quickly get to works. Ice quickly made her way toward a nearby volcano as her horn glowed brightly to cool the area she was in to freezing temperatures. Upon making it to the side of the volcano however, she could feel the heat radiating from the lava that was spewing black smoke from the top. As she trudged along the side of the mountain, Teleporting ever so often to a visible and stable area, she arrived at the top, looking down into the volcano with an emotionless face. After gauging the right amount of magic, she blasted a beam of supercooled air into the volcano. A loud hiss erupted from the glowing orange rock and ore that began to quickly cool down and turn back into solid matter once again.

After a few minutes, the lava bed had been turned into solid rock, causing the area to cool far quicker than before. Many dragons roaring out in annoyance as there source of heat was taken from them, and fled the area to find a new place to roost. Some of them catching sight of the solid white, crystallized pony and taking a dive at her. Thinking she would be an easy meal........... They were wrong.

As the dragons swooped down to pick the pony from the edge of the volcanic opening, Ice blasted one of them with a beam of magic which supercooled the air to several hundred degrees below 0. Upon impact the dragon began to freeze down to the cellular level, screeching out as they became numb in seconds before their blood and body turned to ice before they shattered into a million pieces upon impacting the ground. Several others attempted to do the same, and all of them fell victim to the frost pony.

The other dragons, upon seeing their friends and family perish at the hoof of this elemental pony, fled as the air began to cool around them. Fear driving them on to escape their inevitable death, directly toward the warmer region, where Forge was waiting to pounce.

The dragons began to fly quickly through the sky, landing at the side of a large molten lava lake. Some of them even going as far as to dive into the lava to warm themselves. The barren land around them covered in rocks and dead shrubbery from the excessive heat and sulfur fumes that rode through the air around them.

*SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEECH*

One of the dragons roared out in a shriek of pain as they thrashed about in the lava lake before being pulled under. The other dragons just starring at the spot, expecting the dragon to resurface. Elder dragons weren't known for playing pranks, much less to have any humor at all. So this was a little shocking to them as they continued to stare, until another dragon that was warming themselves in the lava lake shrieked out as they were pulled under.

At this point the dragons began to quickly removed themselves from the lake and stand on the rim of it, starring out into the areas that the other dragons had been dragged under. Suddenly a small bump surfaced, pushing the molten rock to the sides as part of a dragon surfaced. Then another, and another until twenty or more pieces of the few dragons surface. The smell of cooking flesh filled the air as it quickly began to burn. The dragons along the rim of the lake roared out in anguish and rage upon seeing more of their brethren dead and being cooked within the lake.

That roaring came to a stop however as many large spikes erupted from the rim of the lake, piercing straight through a few of the dragons, and causing the rest of them to take flight to avoid certain death. As they took flight however, the lake began to swell in the middle as a form began to slowly emerge, taking shape of a three hundred foot pony. The lava began to cool and form stone flesh onto the pony as the cracks leaked molten lava like a very slow water fall. After a few more seconds he finished forming, his eyes opening to reveal the flames of Tartarus itself. The dragons all roared loudly as they began to fly around the giant pony, swiping at him and using their tails as makeshift bludgeons as they attempted to down their new enemy.

Forge looked around to see many dragons flying around him, His movements were very slow and sluggish as he continued looking around before slowly opening his mouth to reveal nothing but the orange glow of lava and the dark spots of large boulders resting in the midst of it. Slowly the giant pony took in what seemed like a breath of air before quickly roaring and spitting out molten lava and boulders toward the dragons.

They dodged and waved through the assault for a few moments, boulders and hot lava soaring past them. They all grinned thinking that they had avoided death and sailed toward Forge only to fall from the sky, death taking them as those boulders exploded, sending thousands of shards of rock like spears through anything within their range. Many of the dragons began to fall to the exploding boulders, some even surviving as they hit the ground. Two unlucky ones happened to land onto the pony's back, thinking they were safe. Until the glowing cracks widened without warning, letting them fall into the lava blood of the stone pony, and then closing like a vice around them, crushing them into a sizzling mush that quickly became nothing more than burnt flesh that added to Forge's size.

"Things seem to be going far better than expected in the land of the dragon's mistress. No enemies can stand against Forge when he is in his element." Steel grinned evilly as he and Screwball watched everything play out through a magical mirror.

*C-crack*

Screwball and Steel turned their gaze toward the statue of Discord as it cracked slightly. Screwball running up to it smiling with glee as she spoke.

"Yeeeeeesssss, This chaos is making daddy stronger. It won't be much longer until he can break free from his stone prison. And then we will see what those Alicorn's can do against us both." She began to laugh softly, it slowly turning into a mad cackle as she hugged her father.

'We will see what happens with that.' Steel thought to himself as he gave a sinister grin toward Screwball before looking back to the fight at hoof.

Back at the royal castle, the group had received some intel from Dragonia about the event's that were unfolding their. The land was ruled by the dragons, and only such since they were mostly feral and lacked a lot of cognitive behaviors that could create a society. The land was ruled by the strongest dragon, and what that dragon wanted, became law upon thinking it. However, this also meant that they lacked the knowledge on how to use teamwork to take down an enemy, as they always resulted in going one on one with the enemy, in which case they would die, or distract them long enough for another dragon to kill the enemy.

"So what do we do about this mess?" Shining spoke up, causing the others to look down slightly as they thought.

"There isn't much we can do. The dragon nation doesn't have any laws, so they could attack any and all living things that happen to stroll into their lands. This also means that we cannot help them since we would be in danger of being killed by them as well. Seeing a giant pony would make them think that the ponies of Equestria are attacking them for no reason." Luna spoke up causing them to gawk slightly.

"But if we don't at least try to take on these things, the dragons will invade Equestria to try and get rid of the possible source of the menace since it is a pony. They would think that we sent them since our borders are so close together." Midnight spoke up as his horn lit up with magic, casting several clones of himself and causing his own body to glow a soft white for a moment. After the light disappeared, Charles stood there rubbing his temples slightly as he tried to think.

"Alright, this transformation thing is getting annoying. I've used all of my magic, or what was left of it, to create these clones." Charles stated as he nodded to the three clones. "You three know what to do, so get to it." He said as they nodded before disappearing.

"What did you do?" Celestia asked as she looked to the human standing before everyone.

"I sent them out to try and do some damage to that monster in the dragon lands. Suicide clones that can change form will help out a lot." He chuckled before swaying slightly, his hand shooting out to the table to steady himself and causing the others to look at him in slight alarm. "I'm fine, just dizzy from using all of my magic." He stated before taking a seat and placing his head into his hands as he rubbed his eyes gently.

"Please wait here, I will go to the vault and return momentarily." Celestia spoke up before quickly leaving the throne room.

"Don't tell me she's......... Luna began but stopped as Charles spoke up.

"She's getting a magic potion for me. I don't blame her. These are dire times, and we need all the help we can get." Charles sighed as he sat back into his seat.

In the land of the dragons, the three clones of Midnight appeared, all three quickly shifting their forms into that of mid sized dragons before taking flight toward the area where Ice and Forge were at. As they arrived within visual range of the towering pony, they nodded to one another as they split off to fly around him.

Forge continued to stand in place as he slowly looked around him to see many different dragons flying around or away from him. He opened his mouth, releasing a huge plume of fire toward the dragons that were in front of him. Knowing that the fire wouldn't do them any harm, the dragons continued to fly through it but fell to the earth below as more exploding boulders were hidden within the fire. This caused many of the dragons to land onto the pony and begin to wail on him with all of their combined strength. Tearing rock and molten lava away from his hide as quickly as they could before being swallowed alive into his body before being crushed.

The three Midnight clones watched as they formed a strategy. One of them flying onto the stallions back and starting to wail much like the others did, but raised a shield around himself before being pulled into the molten blood of the beast. After a few seconds of being consumed into the liquid rock, there was an earth shattering explosion that nearly broke the lumbering giant in half. A scream escaped the elemental as he fell sideways onto the hard ground and out of the lava lake. The other clones watched as he began to slowly heal his body back into what it was.

"I think we are going to need to resort to plan B." One of the clones spoke to the other which nodded as they flew toward the fallen pony. Both starting to glow for a moment before one of them stopped, falling out of the sky and to the ground below in the same pose he was in while flying. The last clone looked down to see the other clone shatter onto the ground upon impact. He looked around just in time to see Ice staring at him with those lifeless eyes as she was sending a coldfront toward him.

He could feel himself freezing up and quickly teleported several hundred feet away before flying directly into the mouth of the screaming stone pony Forge. The fallen giant clamping down onto the clone, presumably ending his existence. The giants eyes went wide for just a moment before his head exploded into flying rock and lava in every direction.

Ice stared at the fallen pony for a moment, her eyes narrowing before her horn lit up and teleported back to Screwballs base of operations.

Screwball was seething anger as she cursed loudly, stomping the floor in rage as she walked in front of the last two elementals that she had control over. Steel at her side as he spoke.

"Mistress, please calm yourself. I am sure we GCK!" He was unceremoniously stop as he was pulled from the ground by his neck by an unseen force from Screwball. She pulling him directly to her face as she glared into his blinded eyes.

"I will be calm when that fucking Alicorn is DEAD! Don't you even attempt to try and console me through this matter. I have been planning this for months and I WILL have that Alicorn dead for what he did to daddy! If you value your life, then I suggest you stop with this crap and help me figure out a full proof plan to kill him." She snorted before releasing him and letting him fall to the floor in a heap as he gasped for air.

"*COUGH* I'm sorry *cough* mistress. Maybe it is time *cough* to go with the final plan?" He spoke out as he rubbed his metallic neck.

Screwball gave a sinister smile as she looked to her father who was still slowly cracking. Edging his way to freedom.

"I think that would be the final push to free him. Let us prepare for the final fight." She began to chuckle softly before it turned into a mad cackle that gave Steel a cold chill as it ran up his spine.

'I know this is going to be the end for us, I really should have listened to mother and turned into a librarian. Soooooo much safer than this crap.' Steel sighed to himself as he went into the next room to prepare for the final battle.
