"Finally finished, I can't believe it took a whole day to cast that damn spell." Midnight groaned as he crawled into his guest bed in the castle. It was later in the evening the next day when he had finished the spell. Twilight's Hearths Warming present had been finished and successfully tested. The battery would hold a full days worth of magic within it, in short, it would give her a full charge of magic that it would normally take her an entire day to accumulate on her own from the natural amount her body could make within that time. The gem itself would replenish itself over time as well, normally it would take the gem a full day to recharge itself had it been a short casting. However since Midnight went the extra mile and took an entire day to cast the spell, the gem would refill completely within ten minutes. The gem itself would have vulnerabilities from this as well, making it fragile to multi-charges. Should Twilight or any other pony that could use magic charge the gem more than three times within a day from completely empty, the gem would crack, and then explode like a ton of dynamite.

Just as Midnight was laying his head down onto his pillow, a knock came at the door startling him awake once again. He gave an annoyed snort as he groaned out.

"Go away, I'm trying to sleep." He said just before the door opened revealing the princess of the night.

"Now is that anyway to speak to royalty?" She smirked as she strode into the room.

"It is if you haven't slept in twenty-four hours and spent an entire day casting a spell to make a Hearths Warming present for somepony." H snorted as he lay his head back down onto his pillow giving a large yawn.

"Oh come now, surely you aren't as tired as you say you are." She giggled as she moved to the side of his bed. Midnight only raising his head to give her an incredulous look before speaking.

"Fair warning, if you don't let me get some sleep, I am going to pull you into bed with me and use you as a snuggle pillow." He smirked causing her to blush a little before backing away from him.

"You wouldn't dare!?" She spoke out with a giggle.

"You have five seconds to exit the room. Commencing countdown to snuggle." He grinned as he began to countdown.

"Five."

"You don't honestly think...."

"Four."

"That I would allow you...."

"Three."

"To threaten me with...."

"Two."

"Being snuggled should I....."

"One."

"Not leave you alAAAAACK!" She squeaked out as she was suddenly pulled into bed via Midnight's magic, Midnight quickly wrapping his hooves around her from behind so she couldn't kick him away.

"MIDNIGHT! WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU!?" She shouted just before a pillow was placed under her head. Midnight resting his head on top of hers giving a soft sigh as he snuggled her closer.

"Pillows, shouldn't talk. They should be quiet, and soft, and cuddly." He chuckled as he continued to hold her to him. After a minute she quit trying to get away which in turn surprised him.

"You do realize that once I am free, I am going to personally make you pay for this." She snorted.

"Uh huh, is that why you quit trying to get away." He chuckled feeling her tense up.

"Well........... It has been a long time since I have shared a bed with someone other than my sister. Much less a stallion......" She trailed off. "And I do find this, comfortable." She giggled.

"Then just relax and enjoy the moment, or at least until I fall asleep." He yawned. "By the way, why did you come in here anyway?" He asked before closing his eyes.

"Well, I was wondering why you had locked yourself away for the entire day, I was........ worried that somepony had upset you or something of that nature......." She trailed off for a moment. "But since you have obviously just been toiling away at casting a spell, I see no further use trying to convince you to come out." She stopped for a moment expecting a reply, but it never came. "Midnight? Did you fall asleep?" She asked softly as she slowly turned over to face him.

As she finished turning over slowly she gave a soft smile seeing the dark Alicorn's eyes shut, his breathing slow and steady, his mouth slightly parted as his warm breath gently caressed the Night Princess. She hadn't realized it, but a blush was slowly encasing her entire head as she realized that she was in bed, with a stallion that was for the first time, much larger than herself. She gave a girlish giggle wondering what her sister would think about her stallion having pulled her sister into bed with him.

While she lay there giving a giddy smile at the stallion sleeping soundly before her, she moved in slowly, giving him a quick kiss before slowly pulling herself from the bed and heading out of the room. Once she had closed the door behind her she shook her head giving another giggle before heading back down the hall.

"Well now, that was a surprise." Midnight chuckled softly to himself as he pressed a hoof to his lips. "Didn't think she had it in her to pull a stunt like that." He chuckled before closing his eyes and finally falling asleep.

Luna had made her way to her sisters quarters without stopping. Although it wasn't far from where Midnight was, there were still a few guards along the path. Some of which would nod to the princess or bow should they be lower ranked. Upon entering her sisters room, the sun princess smiled to her sister as she sat on the balcony reading a book.

"Good evening Luna, I take it you saw to why my stallion has locked himself away for an entire day?" She asked giving a soft smile.

"It appears as if he was casting a spell during that time to make a present for somepony." She giggled.

"Hmmmmm, curious. I wonder what spell he would need to cast for such a long period of time in order to create something." She asked looking rather thoughtful. "I guess I could ask him tomorrow." She smiled but cocked a brow looking to her sister whom was fidgeting slightly in her presence.

"I take it that wasn't all he did as well." Celestia grinned toward her sister causing her to blush and sputter slightly.

"N-no......... Yes............. Maybe?" Luna sputter giving a sheepish smile.

"You don't have to say anything if you feel uncomfortable about it. I have learned to expect strange behavior from my stallion whenever he is nearby. It proves to keep things interesting I must say." Celestia giggled softly as she got up and headed to her bed.

"Yes, he is full of surprises." Luna chuckled. "I guess I will leave to let you rest Tia, I will see you in the morning for breakfast." She said softly as she gave her sister a nuzzle before heading out of the room.

Luna made her way quietly toward her quarters without incident. Once she made her way inside, she headed toward her balcony as she gazed out toward the stars above, giving a smile as they twinkled brightly. As she stood there she looked over to her previous Hearthswarming present from Midnight. A large telescope that was a thousand times more powerful than any telescope that she had used before. The word MEAD engraved along the side of it. As she looked at it she pressed a small button on its side, turning it on. After a few seconds a small display lit up and she punched in a few numbers as it came to life and moved to a specific spot in the sky. Luna moved her vision to the eyepiece as she gazed through it to see a beautiful galaxy spread across her entire field of vision. It was more beautiful than anything she had ever seen while looking into the night sky.

She would have to thank Midnight with a good present this year, as last year, her present to him was not anywhere near as nice as what he had gotten her. After a moment she smiled as her horn lit up as she looked into the heavens. Little twinkles of light suddenly popping into existence as she moved them about in the sky. After a few minutes and some precise calculations she was satisfied with the end result.

"A new constellation for a dear friend." She smiled as she looked over the horse shaped constellation in the sky. "Surely having something like this would be the best gift a pony could ask for." She beamed. I shall show this to him on Hearth's Warming night."

Luna continued to sit there as the cold night air passed her by, causing her coat to bristle as it nipped at her. After a few more minutes she came back inside and closed the doors to her balcony. She gave the constellation one final glance and smile before heading out of her room to do her nightly duties.

Morning arrived all to soon for Midnight as the sun crested over the horizon, its warm rays heating up his black coat as he lay sprawled out and cocked sideways in bed. He gave a soft yawn as he blinked away the nights sleep from his eyes.

"Time for another day to get some more present's." He yawned again as he hopped out of bed and stretched his wings and legs out.

As he made his way into the dining hall, he took a seat next to Celestia as she and Luna had already arrived early to have breakfast together.

"Mornin ladies." He smiled to them as he began to make a plate for himself. "I noticed you decided to leave after I fell asleep the other night Luna." He smirked to her causing her to spit out her drink in a comedic manner before gawking and blushing at him.

"Left after you had fallen asleep?" Celestia asked while cocking a brow at her sister.

"IT WAS HIS FAULT! I WAS TAKEN CAPTIVE!" Luna shouted before covering her mouth with her hooves.

"Captive my dear?" Celestia giggled as she looked to Midnight.

"I didn't see you trying to make an escape during my countdown warning." He chuckled seeing her entire body begin to turn a crimson red.

"I......... I......... I......." She stammered before throwing her hooves into the air in frustration. "UGH!"

"Luna was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I spent yesterday casting a spell that would take twenty-four hours to finish. After I had completed the spell, I went to bed. Luna just so happened to wonder why I had locked myself away for a day and came to visit to see if she could cheer me up. I had just laid down to go to sleep, and you know how grumpy I am when sleep deprived." He chuckled. "She then ignored my warning about turning her into a snuggle pillow. I even gave her a countdown. I think she secretly wanted me to snuggle her." He grinned toward the Night princess who was just covering her face as she blushed.

"Did she not try to get away?" Celestia asked giving a hidden smirk.

"At first, after a couple minutes she relaxed and went with it. Even turning over and giving me a kiss before sneaking off." He grinned, giving a wink to the now in shock Night Princess as she stared at him.

"YOU WERE AWAKE?!" She squeaked out as her body never stopped blushing.

"I was being courteous and giving you ample chance to get away. I was rather tired and didn't feel like fighting all night. I just thought you might enjoy a little snuggle session on a cold night. Kinda surprised me though with that little smooch ya gave me." He grinned giving her a wink. "Had I known you thought that way about me, I would have asked you out on a date a while back."

At this moment, Luna was blushing so hard that even her mane was turning red. She began to speak, but all that came out was a jumbled of words that made no sense, then as if things couldn't get any more awkward. *THUD* She passed out from sheer embarrassment, hitting the floor with a soft thud. Celestia and Midnight looked over to her as her color began to turn to normal. Midnight got up from his seat giving an evil grin as he looked to Celestia.

"I wouldn't recommend doing what I think you are about to do." She chuckled as she covered her mouth from smiling so wide.

Midnight grinned evilly as he nudge Luna gently onto her back. Celestia let out a snort as she placed both hooves over her mouth to control herself. Even the guards standing at the door watched in horror at what was about to happen. Midnight took in a deep breath as he lowered his head and blew bubbles onto Luna's stomach.

"So are ya ready for the Hearths Warming party sugarcube?" Applejack asked Twilight as she was tossing some books at a glowing white orb that sent them flying onto the shelves around the library.

"Yes, and I even finished getting everypony their presents as well. A few days ahead of schedule thank goodness." She beamed as she tossed a few more books into the orb.

"Great, ah know Pinkie can't wait teh give that youngin his first present. Plus we get teh celebrate it tehgether in Canterlot castle this year as well. Can't believe it really. That dern fool of a stallion actually got the princess to let us have the party in the castle." She chuckled but stopped as a faint scream was heard outside causing the two ponies to rush out of the library to see who was doing the screaming. Once they had left the library the scream was quickly replaced by a loud explosion as a stream of black smoke began to fly from Canterlot castle toward Ponyville.

"What in Equestria?" Twilight began but stopped as the trail of smoke began to get closer toward their position.

"MOVE YER TAIL!" AJ shouted as she bowled the purple unicorn over just as the trail of smoke slammed into the ground where she was previously standing.

After the dust cleared the two ponies as well as everypony in the entire area walked over to the small crater to see Midnight in a heap, severely singed all over and still smoking.

"Ugh........... remind me never to surprise tickle Luna EVER again." He groaned in pain as he lay there.

"Ah'll go get the bandages." AJ said with a chuckle as she went into the library.

"I'll get the idiot." Twilight sighed as she levitated the Alicorn into the air and brought him into the library.
