Whats love got to do with it?
Chapter 163: 162. Meeting the parents, and the Almighty one?
Previous Chapter Next ChapterCelestia and Midnight had summoned a maid to take the children out of Celestia's quarters so that they could begin the spell in question to send them to the afterlife plane. After a quick spell exchange with the princess, Midnight focus all of his available magic along with Celestia casting the spell into a united spell between them. After a few seconds the space around them illuminated into an intense blinding white light before softly fading around them. Midnight looked himself over as he was standing on a cloud next to Celestia, but as his human form Charles.
"Seems my magic drain worked." He smirked over to her as she gave him a soft smile.
"It seems so, and you have your clothing as well. However, let us make haste, even though you used up all of your power in order to help cast this spell, it will only last a couple of hours at best in both realms. My family will be rather easy to find though, so there is no worry about not finding them."
The two began to walk through the plane, Charles looking all around him to see so many different new things and surprisingly, many different species as well. As they walked along, Charles noticed several humans wondering about as well. He looked to Celestia in surprise as he began.
"That was a human back there, is it possible that the afterlife realm is connected to all realities?" He asked feeling a slight adrenaline rush.
"Yes, were you not aware that all of creation has a linked afterlife, no matter what reality the previously living had come from?" Celestia asked.
"No, I thought that they would have their own. But if they are all linked, then that means............" He trailed off, stopping on the spot as his eyes began to water, streams of tears running down his face as he saw two people that he never thought he would see again until his time had come. "Mom.................. Dad.............." He fell to his knees as they smiled to him, slowly walking up to him and bringing him into a loving hug.
"My baby........... Please tell me that you didn't pass on." His mother spoke out as she hugged him tightly. His father doing the same.
"Mom, don't cry, I'm not dead." He chuckled softly as he held onto his parents as if they would vanish if he let go.
"Then how?" His father spoke up before he noticed Celestia and pulled away from his son as he went to one knee, bowing before her. Charles' mother looked to the father then to Celestia giving a small gasp as well before doing the same.
"Mom? Dad? What are you....." He stopped as Celestia spoke up.
"Rise young ones, you need not bow before me at this time. I am simply a visitor to the afterlife at this moment, as is this young man." She smiled seeing Charles' parent's look questionably from the white Alicorn to their son.
"But, how did you?" His father began but stopped as Charles came over to Celestia and gave her a hug. The parent's giving a gasp as did everyone else around them.
"Charlie!? Are you insane?! You aren't allowed to touch a Goddess or God for any reason!" His father shouted as he reached over and tore his son from Celestia who just gave a soft laugh seeing his surprised expression. Please forgive him your majesty." He spoke as he went back to kneeling in front of her.
"Dammit dad!" Charles yelled out as he managed to shake off his grasp. "I was about to tell you two before you dragged me over here that Celestia is my bride to be." He said giving a huff toward his father.
Everything stopped at the comment. No breaths were taken, no sound was made. Not even the air flowing about the area dared to make a sound. That was, until a booming laugh erupted from all around them causing everyone, even Celestia to flinch.
"HAAAAAAHAHAHahahahaaa! So my daughter finally found herself a suitor eh?" A large white Alicorn with a red and orange fire mane spoke up as he pressed through the crowd surrounding them.
"Daddy, so good to see you again." Celestia spoke up as she trotted over to her father and gave him a loving hug.
"STAR! Get your flank over here! Our daughter has paid us a visit, and with a stallion no less!" He shouted loudly as his voice echoed all around the plane.
"Star?" Charles asked as he looked to Celestia.
"My mothers name is Morning Star, My fathers name is Blazing Dusk." She smiled softly before it turned to a wide smile as her mother pushed through the crowd giving a bright smile as well toward her.
Charles stood there in silence as he looked Morning Star over for a moment. She was an Alicorn as well, but her coat was a deep blue just like Luna's, while her mane and tail was a yellowish color similar to the morning sun as it crested the horizon. It flowed just like Celestia's as well.
"My daughter, how good it is to see you again." She beamed as she pulled the princess into a hug. "Did I hear my blowhard husband correctly? Did you bring a stallion with you?" She giggled giving a hopeful expression.
"Well, he is a stallion in a sense mother. He has chosen to show you his real form instead of his pony form though." Celestia smiled as she pulled away from her mother as Charles walked up and gave a gentle bow.
"Name's Charles, But my pony name is Midnight Flame." He smiled to the two Alicorn's.
"Pony name?" Charles' mother asked in surprise.
"Uh yea, It's a funny story actually. It seems that there was a magical storm in Celestia's world that tore me and our house from earth mom. I ended up in Equestria. Celestia and I, well, fell for each other after I was turned into a pony by her protege." Charles chuckled.
"Then why aren't you a pony now?" His father asked.
"Well, Tia said that the spell she had to cast would practically drain her magic and make her tired while here. So I volunteered to use all of my available magic to send us here so that she could speak at ease without worry of falling asleep from overuse of magic. When my pony form uses all of its magic at once, I return to my human form temporarily until I have regained enough magic to return to my Alicorn form."
Star and Dusk paused, staring at the human for a moment at what they had just heard.
"Did I just hear him right? Did he say Alicorn form Tia?" Star asked in surprise.
"Y-yes mother. Twilight Sparkle, my personal student, cast the transformation spell onto Charles to turn him into a temporary pony. The result though was a mixed blessing as it turned him into an Alicorn, which he had to remain as due to the magic involved. He then saved Equestria twice from destruction. The first time from the shadow hunter, the second from an evil clone of himself that Discord had managed to make." She said giving a sheepish smile.
"Well then, I guess we know where you stand on your beliefs then." Dusk chuckled. "But still, being a former human turned Alicorn, then being married to my eldest daughter. I'm sorry to say that I do not approve." he said rather flatly.
"What do you mean you don't approve?! Isn't my son good enough for your daughter?" Charles' father shouted as he walked forward causing everyone to gasp at the sudden outburst toward one of the afterlife planes God's.
"You would be wise to watch your tongue whelp." Dusk spoke out coldly as he glared at Charles' father.
"No! You watch yours, my father was defending me and I will not have anyone, even God himself speak that way to him." Charles shouted back as he pressed his forehead right to Dusk's, his eyes burning with rage.
The two remained that way for a minute before Dusk finally pulled away and burst into laughter. Charles stood their rather dumbstruck as he looked at the Alicorn.
"My boy, in all my years, not one being has stood up to me for any reason during that time. It humbles my heart to know that my daughter is going to marry someone who would risk life and limb to stand up to protect those he loves and cares for. So for you my son-in-law, I give you my blessing to marry my daughter."
*THUD*
Everyone stared for a moment at the fallen body of Charles' father as he laid sprawled out from shock.
"TOM!" Charles' mother shouted out as sh cradled his head in her hands, giving his cheeks a gentle slap to revive him.
"Huh..... Wha..... May? What happened?!" Tom bolted upright to see everyone staring at him.
"I guess standing up to a God will do that to a person once they realize how badly they screwed up." Dusk laughed. "But don't worry, I hold no grudges on those willing to stand up for their loved ones." He continued.
"Wait, so your telling me that your a God in the afterlife?" Charles gawked slightly. "And I just mouthed off to you?!" He gawked even more. "I think I need to sit down."
Everyone at this point burst into laughter seeing Charles' perplexed and nervous expression upon realizing what he had just done. After a minute he regained his composure and stood back up taking in a couple deep breaths.
"Alright, now that I know you aren't mad at me I think we can continue." He smiled nervously. "But I do have a question." He said as the elder Alicorn's looked to him. "You stated that you are a God, which also implies that their are more than one God. Would you care to explain?" He asked giving cocked brow.
"Not at all my son, come, walk with us, your parent's may join us as well if they would like." Dusk smiled softly to the two elderly looking people following close behind their son.
They walked along toward an ancient looking greek building with many towering stone pillars holding the roof up. As they entered the building, the inside was far larger than what it looked like on the outside. Once they had entered, Charles and his parent's look up to either side of the room to see large seats made of stone with large pillowy cushions that rested under each figure that sat upon them. Each of the beings were either an Alicorn or winged being of a different species. Many of them were conversing back and forth to each other but came to a stop as they noticed the three humans walking behind the Alicorn's that had just entered.
"What mockery is this?" Shouted another Alicorn from the left side of the room. "What are mere humans doing within the halls of Asgard?" He continued but stopped as Charles glared at him. "How dare you look at me in such a way!" He shouted as his horn lit up sending a bolt of lightning toward Charles for it to only stop as one of Celestia's wings shot forth, blocking the bolt and sending it back to its caster. The Alicorn stopping it before it could make contact.
"You will address these guest's accordingly great grandfather." Celestia spoke up causing his eye to twitch in annoyance. "As will the rest of the court of Gods." She spoke up looking around. "This human as you put it is also an Alicorn, and my betrothed to be, So I would suggest that you all get along for the short time that we are here. I would also like you all to welcome his parent's as well into the folds. As they will be present in some future discussions as well." She snorted slightly causing the rooms occupants to murmur softly to each other.
"Ah here we are my friends and daughter. Celestia has met this fellow several times before, many times as a young filly when I had visited my parents on this plane." Dusk smiled to his blushing daughter. "This would be the almighty one. The first God and the creator of everything in existence." He smiled to the young looking man that sat smiling on the throne at the end of the room. The three Alicorn's and humans bowed before him, rising slowly from the greeting.
"So this is God? I mean, THEE God? Then why is there so many other God's?" Charles piped up seeing the young man smile.
"Each of these are God's to their own reality my son. They take the form of what they find most comfortable and of what species they had first mad within that reality they had created. You just so happened to be torn from one reality to another and managed to get in good grace's with a visible God, unlike the one from your world that likes to play hide and seek far to often." He said as he glanced to a couple of thrones away at a smirking individual.
"I can't help it if I like to see what faith alone causes my creations to do when I am not present. To be honest I am rather jealous of Fred's universe that he created and left to Celestia, the newest God residing over it." He sighed.
"So your the God to my plane?" Charles asked as he looked up to the man sitting idly in a throne that had just spoken.
"I am, and I wondered where you had vanished to from Earth. I had not planned on your life ending at that point. But then again, I try not to interfere with the lives of those I created in my own image." He smiled. "But if you would like, I can return you to Earth."
"I appreciate the offer, but I have a new home now, and a family." He smiled as he leaned into Celestia, rubbing his cheek to hers.
"A family?" Star spoke up.
"Uh oh......." Charles trailed off feeling his spin begin to freeze slightly.
"You mean to tell me you have had a foal with this young man?" Star spoke up causing the rest of the court to go silent.
"Yes mother, I have, and I will not let you belittle me, my husband to be, or son for any means." She said as she spoke defensively, however coming to a stop as her mother began to cry and pulled her into a crushing hug.
"Oh my baby! I have a grandfoal!" She squeaked out at first before shouting it loudly and proudly causing the entire court to erupt in a cheer.
Charles stood there in a stupor as he received many slaps on the back from quite a few of the God's within the room. Even his mother and father coming up to relish in the news that they also have a grandchild.
After a short time, the cheers settled down into a dull roar as every God began to pick back up in their discussions with other Gods. The alpha God, the three Alicorn's, and the three human's left the hall to walk away from all the noise to talk.
"So then Dusk, I take it you would like me to welcome this young one into our folds as a legitimate God? Even though he is human and only transformed into an Alicorn upon a magical spell from your plane?"
"I'm sorry to interrupt, but if it would please you and cause you far less grief, I don't mind remaining an Alicorn and just keeping a regular title like the rest of the occupants of this plane." He said giving an honest smile.
"My my, such a humble thing to say." God chuckled as he pulled the man into a sideways hug, pressing the side of his head to Charles'. "But to be honest, I like to shake things up from time to time in the court. All of those blowhards constantly bickering with one another gets tiring, ya know? You are the proverbial wrench that I am going to throw into the gears to shake things up. So don't worry about the whole title thing. That's pretty much all it is, a title." He laughed, releasing him. "Anyway, Dusk, I know you brought him here to get my approval for him to wed your daughter, and to be honest I will give it. So long as he treats her right."
Charles stood there in awe, he had just received the approval of God himself to wed Celestia. His parent's were in tears from hearing this as well and just hugged Charles and God into a group hug. The moment passed though as Celestia and Midnight flickered slightly.
"It seems that our time is coming to a close here everyone." Celestia spoke up feeling disheartened that her time with her parents and even God himself was so short.
"Don't worry little one. Your beau was the one who cast the spell. You simply guided it, so you can visit again anytime you desire. I do believe that His parent's as well as your own would love to see their grandchild. So please do bring the little one when you arrive again." God smiled as he gave Celestia a hug. "Now go, return safely to your plane." He smiled as he waved at them, a light coming from his hand as it enveloped them then faded as they opened their eyes to see that they had returned to Celestia's quarters.
"That was, something else." Charles said as he rubbed his eyes gently, the stream of tears having fallen from his eyes onto his cheeks, and moving down his face. "Looks like I'm human again, well, for a short time anyway." He chuckled but stopped as he was pulled into a hug by Celestia.
"Thank you, for doing what you did." She smiled as she pushed him away, then punching him in the arm with a hoof.
"OW What the hell?!" He chuckled as he rubbed the sore spot that had just been hit.
"That was for speaking out of line like you did to my father and interrupting the Alpha God. Don't you realize he could have turned you to dust with just a thought?!" She sighed in annoyance.
"Tia, I would walk from the end of the universe to the other, I would swim across the river Styx, I would lay my life down, all for you and those I love. Facing a God and even speaking up to them or out of line means nothing to me if I am protecting those I love. So don't think I wouldn't even get in a fist fight with any of them if the insulted you or anyone I care for." He laughed only to see her roll her eyes.
"I bet I could take one of'em." He smirked but stopped as a scroll snapped into existence in front of him. Celestia grabbing it out of the air and opening it up to read it. She gave a groan as she tossed it to Charles and walked out of the room.
"What the?" He trailed off as he read the letter.
Dear Charles/Midnight Flame
I look forward to our little boxing match, as well as many of the other God's. We have all taken a number as to which one will be fighting you first when you cross over to meet us from now on. Just remember to keep the boasting to yourself at times if it involves us. Since you are an illegitimate member of the court now, we can hear your words as well as see most of your actions. But don't worry, anything that happens in the bedroom is out of our vision. Looking forward to seeing you again.
God
"Great, now I've got God himself trolling my ass." Charles groaned as he crushed the letter up and tossed it over his shoulder.
