Chapter Twelve:

Rude Awakening

Axe and Spark both woke up to the yelling that came from something at the end of the bed.

Axe slowly woke up at the same time Spark did and when he lifted his back off the bed, he noticed five Nazis at the foot of the bed pointing Kar 98 Ks at the two ponies.

The Nazis had their Kar 98 Ks aimed at their heads and they kept on yelling something at them that the two ponies couldn't understand but they knew what the Nazis were going with this.

The Nazis pushed their captured prisoners outside where they were to be executed.

They put the guns to their faces and one Nazi that was in command of the squad yelled out “Execute on my mark! One! Two! Thr...”

All of the Nazis looked into the sky to see that about hundreds of Reavers  were flying over them towards Stalliongrad where the Nazi headquarters was stationed. Some of the Reavers started firing at the Nazis where they were going to execute the two ponies.

Missiles fell from the sky and hit the Nazis causing them to explode on contact or get critically injured from the force of the impact that hit near them.

The two ponies fled from the battle and into the forest running at a full gallop as they saw some German soldiers crawling towards them bleeding eternally. The two ponies didn't know where to go to avoid getting killed by the Locusts so Spark ran to a random direction into the forest.

“Come On Axe! Follow Me!” Yelled out Spark as Axe was running right behind Spark following her orders.

Axe followed Spark into the forest and he followed her out of the forest and onto a hill looking over Stalliongrad that was engulfed in flames from the battle of Locusts V.S. the Nazis.

E-holes quickly were formed in and around the city where Grenadiers, Grenadier Elite, Theron Sentinels, and Theron Guards climbed out from them and shot their guns at the Nazis.

Many Nazis were terrified as to what these creatures were but still stood their ground and tried to defend their command posts. Soon enough the Nazis were driven out of their assigned area by being overrun or by being simply running out of ammunition and scared to do a melee fight with a locust that had a chainsaw attachment.

When they were driven out of their position, they were sometimes surrounded by Grinders in front of them and the Locust Drones behind them and as they tried to take another route to try and avoid the the two forces closing in on them, Flame Boomers would be there too and there was nowhere to try and escape but an alley with no outlets. Then when they were cornered, Butchers would come in and just basically butcher them with their big knives. Sometimes the Butchers would toy with the cornered Nazis and just toss them around by hitting them with their big knives not as hard but still laugh at the fact that they were torturing humans in the middle of a battle.

Himmler without hesitation, ordered most of his units to retreat.

Panzer and Elephant tank units attempted to evacuate the ruins of the city since their weapons seemed useless against the Locusts while the Tiger Tank units, snipers, and mortar units stayed behind in the city to try and fend off the Locusts but the other forces tried to evacuate but were soon pummeled by bullets and bombs from the Reavers. The Germans that refused to fight off the enemy were quickly killed by their own.

The snipers were hiding into apartment buildings with their Scoped Kar 98 Ks.  They tried to shoot the Locusts below them in the streets but every time they shot their scoped rifle, it gave a loud of enough sound to attract a horde of Locusts as if the horde level was at number eight.

As soon as the Locusts came, the Nazis left but when they were retreating, the Locusts surrounded them with hundreds of Reavers, Grenadiers, Theron Guards, and Beast Riders. The Nazis couldn't run anymore and all of the Locusts just killed them mercilessly even when they accepted to surrender to the Locusts.

After a minute of constant firing at the surrounded Germans that were screaming, they laughed viciously as they watched the huge cloud of smoke in front of them disappear after time. When the dark clouds of smoke disappeared, the Locusts laughed even louder at the sight of German blood splattered all over the ground, tanks, and half-tracks.

The Locusts didn't even bother to secure the city of Stalliongrad since there was almost nothing of it but rubble from the buildings and streets. It was almost certain that nothing could survive in that city from the point of when the Germans arrived, to the point of after the Locusts butchered the Germans.

The Locusts just walked to the outskirts of the city and disappeared into the forest.

Spark started running towards the city of Stalliongrad with tears running down her face. Axe was so frightened from the battle that he didn't realize that Spark has run towards the city of Stalliongrad until when Spark was half way there.

Axe immediately ran after Spark as fast as he could wondering what was her hurry. He never knew that Spark could run that fast over nothing.

When Axe finally stopped behind Spark that was crying and laying down into the pebbles and dust. She had some parts of bricks in her hooves and tried to piece them back together but when she tried, it exploded into dust that flew down to the ground in front of her.

“What's wrong Spark? It's just a city,” Axe asked carelessly.

“What's wrong?! Stalliongrad is whats wrong! It's been completely demolished from monsters that come from underground is whats wrong! MY FUCKING HOME IS GONE THAT IS WHATS WRONG!” Spark yelled out towards Axe in anger with more tears coming down her face.

“Your home? I thought your home was in Canterlot or Ponyville or something,”

replied Axe with a calm voice.

“I was born in Stalliongrad and I was raised in Stalliongrad. My parents have lived their entire lives in Stalliongrad. It was once a beautiful city filled with the correct order that anypony could live by. It was very peaceful all year round thats why I never left. Plus with the stallions around I thought I could get married by one but somehow it never happened. They were all taken and I was so bored living alone so I joined the Military to find the stallion of my dreams and not be bored with life. I wanted to one day, live back in Stalliongrad to start a family of my own,” Spark replied calming down.

“I never knew. I was born in Canterlot along with three brothers. We lived in the poorest section. Ma, she was alright, she did as much as she could to  keep us well fed and support us as much as she could. We didn't have much money since dad ran away. He used to bring us the money back home  until one day he never returned. Ma did as much as she could to protect us and keep us alive.”

“That sounds so sad. Who's your other brother?” Spark asked.

“My other brother was Hatchet. He got himself seriously hurt one day  and we didn't have enough money for the hospital to fix him so we had to do the worst thing we could ever do; we had to put him down. My brother died when he was ten. He was the youngest of us all and probably the most stupidest out  of all of us. But we still loved him the same. We did have a sister but she  left us all. She was the oldest and I never saw her again. Last time I saw her was when I was about maybe eight.”

“Oh my god you poor poor pony.”

“Don't be sad about your life, be sad about your future being ruined. My past is nothing just forget what ever I said about my life in the past. It doesn't matter anymore.”

“If you say so. It's still sad.”

“It's not sad, I don't care about my past anymore. Nor my family,” Axe said looking away from her with a frown on his face.

“You want to walk through the city? Your tensing up,” Spark asked.

“Sure I guess. Tell me more about this place”

Spark and Axe walked through a street with the buildings on fire that survived bombardment. The ones that didn't survive, left ashes and rubble pouring into the street. There were some buildings in the city that wasn't on fire but were rarely found by the two ponies. The ones that weren't had their windows shattered, cracks on the walls, bullet holes in random places, blood spilled all over the wall, and chipped wall pieces that were scattered across the ground or all over the floor inside. Nothing was untouched by the Nazis or the Locusts.

Axe followed Spark to someplace she was leading him into the city and kept looking around him at the burning buildings. He carefully watched where he stepped since their were dead bodies of Germans and Locusts. He saw pieces of wood and metal explode out of windows and fall into the sidewalks and streets that were encased in flames. They passed damaged tanks and half-tracks that were on fire. He heard nothing but the fires around him and the sound of Spark sniffling with tears still coming down her face.

“Spark?” Axe asked. “Are you okay?”

“I'm surviving but very very sad. I feel like a piece of my heart is missing. Everything hurts but...I ignore the pain,” replied Spark still walking and not looking back at him.

After five minutes of dead silence (besides the fires) and walking through many different streets and intersections, they came across a plaza with a fountain that didn't pour out anymore water and was practically demolished.

Spark stopped in front of the fountain looking down into it with not a sign of a positive expression coming on. She looked back up and around the plaza where she saw more buildings on fire and crumbling. Spark looked at Axe and she said to him “This was the exact spot where my mother and father first met. This was the exact spot where my father proposed to her for when they would get married. That church over there,” Spark said as she looked away and pointed to another part of the plaza. “Thats where my parents were married.”

Spark sat down on the fountain edge and started to cry some more but she covered her eyes with her hooves. She was mentally scarred inside her and it was going to take a lot for her to heal.

Axe was confused for a minute about what to do until he thought of something. He sat down next to Spark and he put his left front leg around Spark's back. Spark wanting to be comforted, leaned her head and rested it on Axe's left shoulder. Axe whispered very softly and comforting to Spark into her ear “Listen Spark. I know that you are very upset and a little scared still, I'm still that too. Everything that has happened today to make you like this, I will make up for it. Just for you and nopony else. If it takes me from now until my last breathe of living, then fine I will still do it. I don't want to see you upset for something that is not your fault. I promise you, I will do everything in my power to make it up to you.”

“You'd really do that for me or are you just saying that to stop my crying?” Spark asked looking into his eyes not convinced.

“I really do mean it because...I love you,” replied Axe.

“Tell me the truth of why that you love me to convince me that you're not lying to me.”

“I love you because well you saved my life maybe a couple of times, your so sexy and hot, the way you walk out of a bathroom after you take a shower makes me want to drool, you're so warm when you hug me, and I think that you are the pony for me. Plus you make a good turkey sandwich,” Axe replied  smiling at her.

“Spark was blushed at the point when Axe told her that she was sexy and hot and he believed him when he said that about her. She kissed him in the cheek, got up, and said to Axe “Thanks, I needed somepony to lift me back on my feet.”

Axe sat frozen amazed at what she did to him after his response.

Spark looked back at him and smiled with a even more brighter blush and she said “Oh come on, all I've did this week to you was practically sexually harass you and that kiss is nothing for what I have in storage.

Axe came back to the real world and said back “You mean...”

“No were not into it that far understand me? I decide when we get to got it?,” Spark rudely interrupted with an attitude.

“I forgot to add one more thing to the list of why I love you.”

“And what's that?” Spark asked as she cocked an eyebrow.

“I love how you almost always get an attitude. Makes you even more irresistible to me,” Axe added as Spark's remark was smiling at him with a chuckle.

“Keep going, you're doing great. Just don't mess up and end up getting kicked in the face,” Spark replied impressed in how much he really loved her.

“But I can't think of anymore!”

“All well, knew it was too good to be true,” Spark said lying.

After an hour of a tour through Stalliongrad, they both were tired and Spark laid down on a big rock as she rested her head on her front legs while Axe sat in a chair keep on trying to level it with only two legs instead of four.

Spark had her eyes closed and acted like she was getting a suntan that the sunlight glistened against her coat. She liked how the wind would rarely and randomly come pass her as her coat brushed up against the short lived breeze.

She listened and felt everything that was on the dead street and loved how peaceful and warm it was around her. Axe thought that Spark was taking a nap in the sunlight to soothe her sorrowfulness so he decided to just take a random stroll through the city alone and hopefully find his way back to Spark.

When Axe left and got to the end of the street, Spark opened her eyes and looked at Axe not surprised that he is there.

“Hey Axe what are you doing?” Spark asked trying to get Axe to come back and stay with her.

“Ohhh uhhh I don't know. Just waiting for what you think about to do next I guess,” Axe replied to her startled.

“Is that you're answer to everything? I guess?”

“I guess so. Hey do you hear something? Axe asked.

“What do you hear?” Spark said with an annoyed expression as she got off the rock and she walked towards Axe.

“Well I hear a faint crying from some where around here.”

“What do you mean crying?”

“I mean I hear crying. It's faint but I can still hear it and it's close.”

“What could it be?”

“I don't know but what ever it is, I think it's good, not like those creatures that stand and walk on two legs.”

“Well then find where it is coming from,” insisted Spark.

The two ponies searched the area for where the faint crying noise was coming from for about three minutes. Axe had no luck of finding where the noise was coming from and gave up because he was probably being tricked by his own mind.

Spark looked into a broken store window and she saw a dark gray filly that is a pegasus. Spark was worried about the filly and she got into the store and tried to comfort her.

“I want MY MOMMY AND DADDY BACK!” The little filly cried out.

“Oh sweetie calm down, it's okay, it's okay, you are safe now,” said Spark as she tried to comfort the crying filly with her words and by hugging it.

“Why...did my mommy and (sniffle) daddy...die Miss?” The little filly asked Spark still crying.

“Well sweetie, you see there are very bad monsters out there that don't like us and want to hurt us,” Spark said to try and answer the filly's question.

“But why do they want to hurt us?”

“Because the monsters don't know any better and are too dumb to leave us alone. What's your name kid?”

“My name is Tornado miss.”

Spark thought she comforted Tornado enough since she stopped crying but when she let go of hugging Tornado, the filly wouldn't let go of her. Spark put her legs back around Tornado and started rubbing her back.

Axe looked into the store window and saw Spark comforting the filly. He was getting a little jealous of Tornado so he backed off and acted like he didn't see them or the filly yet.

“Hey Tornado, can you please get off of me please. Theres some pony I want you to meet,” requested Spark and Tornado obeyed.

Tornado stopped hugging Spark and got off of her. The two ponies jumped out of the store and Spark said to Tornado “Tornado, meet Axe. Axe, meet Tornado.”

“Yes thats very nice well I think we should be going. Very soon in fact I think we should be going now or we will be regretting to ever come here in the first place,” said Axe not impressed by Tornado.

“Well what do you mean by that Axe?” Spark asked curiously.

“I mean I think something something bad is going to happen if we don't get out of the city right now.” Axe insisted urgently.

The three ponies looked up into the sky where a noise interrupted their conversation.

Spark's face lit up into a big smile when she saw three helicopters circling their position.

“Well what could be bad about our own army?!” Spark asked while sounding excited that she would be rescued.

The ground started shaking underneath them and Axe yelled out “Not the Army. THAT!”

A Corpser broke through the ground and shrieked at the three ponies. The Corpser was going to bury the three ponies under the ground alive and by doing this it lifted it's two front legs and quickly tried to stab it's legs into the ground. One of the legs that was going to hit the ground to sink them was going to hit Tornado directly from above.

“TORNADO!!!!” Spark yelled out as she jumped and pushed the filly out of the way from the incoming leg. Spark hugged the filly close to her as she did a barrel roll in the air to dodge the leg.

As soon as the leg hit the ground, the ground underneath the three ponies sank quickly underground. The three ponies fell about ten to fifteen feet into the ground into the Corpser made cave. Rocks fell from above the three ponies splitting the group up into twos.
