Chapter 6: 6. Chapter 6

As they walked down the yellow brick road, completely unaware that Queen Chrysalis was watching them from behind a tree, Apple Bloom looked up at the apple orchard that reminded her of the one back in Sweet Apple Acres, and said "Oh, apples! Oh, look! Oh. Oh. Just like the ones back in Sweet Apple Acres!" She went up to one of the trees, and tried to take an apple, but the tall tree came to life, and slapped her hoof away as it took the apple back. "Ouch!" Apple Bloom said rubbing her slapped hoof to sooth the pain. "What do you think you're doing?!" The tall tree asked. "We've been walking a long ways, and Ah was hungry, and-!" Apple Bloom tried to say, but then she stopped talking as she looked at the tree in shock, and said "Did you say-?" The tall tree looked at the medium tree, and said "She was hungry!" He glared at Apple Bloom, and said "Well, how would you like to have somepony come along and pick something off of you?!" "Oh, dear." Apple Bloom said. "Ah keep forgetting Ah'm not in Equestria." "Come along, Apple Bloom." Pinkie Pie said. "You don't want any of those apples." "What do you mean she doesn't want any of those apples?!" The tall tree asked. "Are you hinting my apples aren't what they ought to be?!" "Oh, no!" Pinkie Pie said. "It's just that she doesn't like little green worms."

The tall tree growled, and tried to grab at Apple Bloom and Pinkie Pie, but they and Winona moved away from the tall tree as he said "Oh, you-!!" "Go, go!" Pinkie Pie said moving Apple Bloom and Winona away from the rude trees. "Oh! Help! Let me out!" The tall trees said. "I'll give you little green worms!" Pinkie Pie looked at Apple Bloom, and said "I'll show you how to get apples." She started making faces at the tall and medium tree, making them growl in anger, and throwing apples at them. "You can't do that to me!" The tall tree said. "I'll show you!" Apple Bloom and Pinkie Pie dodged many apples that were thrown at them as the trees said "You can't do that! You can't do that! Hey!" The tall tree laughed as he threw apples at Apple Bloom and Pinkie Pie. "Hooray!" Pinkie Pie said. "Hooray! I guess that did it! Help yourself." Apple Bloom took one of the apples that the trees threw, and ate it. After eating a few more apples, Apple Bloom came across a tin unicorn that looks like a female version of Elusive, and said "Why, it's a unicorn! A unicorn made out of tin!" The tin unicorn said something, but the rust on her made it difficult to talk. "What?" Pinkie Pie asked. The tin unicorn tried to talk, but they still couldn't understand her. "Yes. Oh, look." Apple Bloom said. "Oil can...oil can." The tin unicorn tried to say through her rust. "Did ya'll say something?" Apple Bloom said. "Oil can..." The tin unicorn tried to say. "Oil can what?" Pinkie Pie asked.

"Oil can?" Apple Bloom asked looking around for an oil can. "Oh. Oh, here it is!" She found an oli can near the tin unicorn's hooves. She took the oil can as the tin unicorn tried to say something. "Where do you want to be oiled first?" Apple Bloom asked. "My mouth...my mouth!" The tin unicorn said. "She said her mouth." Pinkie Pie said, Apple Bloom then oiled the tin unicorn's left part of her mouth as she said "Here...here." "The other side." Pinkie Pie said. "Yes, there." Apple Bloom said oiling the right part of the tin unicorn's mouth. The tin unicorn moved her mouth around as she tried making a few sounds, and said "M...M...My, My, My goodness, I can talk again. Oh, please oil my hooves, my horn, and my tail, darling." "Oh." Apple Bloom said as she oiled the tin unicorn's hooves, horn, and tail. The tin unicorn moved around as she said "Oh." "Oh, did that hurt?" Apple Bloom asked. "No, it feels wonderful." The tin unicorn said. "I've been stuck like this for ages, darling. Oh, I'm Rarity, by the way." "I'm Pinkie Pie!" Pinkie Pie said smiling. "Ah'm Apple Bloom. And this is mah dog, Winona." Apple Bloom said as Winona happily barked. "How did ya'll ever get like this, anyway?" "Oh, well, about a year ago, I was chopping a tree, minding my own buisness, when suddenly it started to rain." Rarity said as she started to grow weak, and Apple Bloom quickly oiled her neck. "And right in the middle of a chop, I-I rusted solid, and dropped my axe. And I've been stuck like this ever since. "Well, ya'll are perfect now." Apple Bloom said.

Rarity looked at Apple Bloom, and said "My...my neck. My...my neck. Perfect? Oh, bang on my chestif you think I'm perfect. Go ahead, bang on it." Apple Bloom looked at Rarity's chest, and tapped on it as she said "Oh!" "Beautiful!" Pinkie Pie said listening to the echo from the tapping that Apple Bloom did. "What an echo!" Rarity sighed sadly, and said "It's empty. The tinsmith pony forgot to give me a heart." "No heart?" Apple Bloom and Pinkie Pie asked at the same time. "No heart." Rarity said. "Oh." Apple Bloom said. "All hollow." Rarity said as she nearly fell over, but Apple Bloom and Pinkie Pie caught her in time. "When a pony is an empty kettle, she should be on her mettle. And yet, I'm torn apart. If I only had a heart, I'd be gentle, and awful sentimental regarding love and art. I'd be friends with the sparrows, and the colt who shoots arrows if I only had a heart." She almost fell over, but Apple Bloom and Pinkie Pie caught her as Apple Bloom said "Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, are you all right?" "I'm afraid I'm a little rusty yet, darling." Rarity said. "Oh dear." Apple Bloom said. "That was wonderful! You know, we were just wondering why you couldn't come to Emerald Canterlot with us to as the Unicorn of Discorded Equestria for a heart." "Emerald Canterlot?" Rarity asked. "Why, that's a long and dangerous journey. And it might rain on the way." "But you've just been saying how much you want a heart." Pinkie Pie said. "And I'll keep the oil-can handy." Apple Bloom said placing the oil can in Pinkie Pie's mane. "Well, suppose the Unicorn wouldn't get me one when we got there?" Rarity asked.

"Oh, but she will!" Apple Bloom said. "She must! We've come such a long way already." Suddenly they heard an evil cackle nearby. "Ohh, what's that?!" Rarity asked in fear. They looked up to see Queen Chrysalis who was sitting on a tree branch, and said "You call that long? Why you've just begun! Forgotten about me?! Well, I haven't forgotten about you!" She looked at Pinkie Pie and Rarity, and said "Helping the little filly along, are you, my fine mares?" She pointed at Pinkie Pie, and said "Well, stay away from her! Or I'll stuff a mattress with you!" She then pointed at the trembling Rarity, and said "And you! I'll use you for a bee hive!" She then conjured a fireball with her magic, and said "Here, Pinkie! Want to play ball?!" She cackled as she threw the fireball at Pinkie Pie who screamed in terror. Apple Bloom and Rarity helped Pinkie Pie put out the fire. Queen Chrysalis then looked at Apple Bloom, and said "And as for you, my little Apple Bloom, I wish you luck with the Unicorn of Discorded Equestria, and a happy journey back to Equestria!" She cackled, and disappeared in a puff of green smoke. "I'm not scared of her!" Pinkie Pie said. "I'll see you get safely to the Unicorn now, whether I get a brain or not! Stuff a mattress with me! Hah!" "I'll see you reach the Unicorn, whether I get a heart or not." Rarity said. "Bee-hive. Bah! Let her try and make a bee-hive out of me! You know...hmm? What's that?!"

Apple Bloom looked at her tail to see a bee, and she screamed as Rarity took the bee off of the filly's tail, and said "Oh! They're-They're gone now." "Oh, goodness!" Apple Bloom said. "Did any of them sting you?" "I-I guess they tried to, but they bent their stingers." Rarity said. "Oh, dear." Apple Bloom said. "Ah don't know what Ah'd do if a whole swarm kept-!" Suddenly, another bee landed on her tail as she said "Oh! Oh! Oh, there's one on me!" "Oh, I'll get it!" Rarity said as she got the bee, and then accidently killed it. "Oh! Oh!" Apple Bloom said. Rarity looked at the dead bee sadly as Apple Bloom said "Oh." "Oh, see. I killed it." Rarity said. "Oh, I killed that poor little honey bee!" "Oh, oh." Apple Bloom said as Rarity started tearing up in the eyes, and said "It's only a pony without a head who could do a thing like that. Poor little bee." "Oh, there, there." Apple Bloom said trying to comfort Rarity as she wiped her tears with a cloth. "Don't cry. There. As a matter of fact, that's just an old drone bee, and it would have died anyway." "Yes?" Rarity asked. Apple Bloom nodded as she said "You put it out of its misery." "Oh." Rarity said. "It's just that the changeling queen is so wicked. Ah don't think you two ought to come with me because you'll get into trouble." "Oh, you don't think we're going to stand by, and let her get away with fireballs and bees, do you?" Pinkie Pie asked. "No way!" Rarity said. "No way!" Pinkie Pie said. Apple Bloom smiled, and said "Oh, you're the best friends anypony ever had! And it's funny, but Ah feel as if Ah've known you all the time. But I couldn't have, could Ah?"

"I don't see how." Pinkie Pie said. "You weren't around when I was stuffed and sewn together, were you?" "And I was standing over there rusting for the longest time." Rarity said. "Still, Ah wish Ah could remember." Apple Bloom said. "But, Ah guess it doesn't matter anyway. We know each other now, don't we?" "That's right!" Pinkie Pie said. "We do." Rarity said. "To the Unicorn of Discorded Equestria?" Pinkie Pie asked. "To the Unicorn of Discorded Equestria!" Rarity said. Then, Apple Bloom, Winona, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity continued to walk down the yellow brick road to see the Unicorn of Discorded Equestria.
