Living As An Equestrian
Chapter 4: Getting Settled In Ponyville
Previous Chapter Next Chapter"Rise and shine sleepy head, time to get up we've got a long day ahead of us." Twilight's soft voice pierced through your ears, waking you up in an instance.
"Uh... What? What time is it?" You asked, still a little drowsy from your sleep.
"Well it around 7, which mean that we got plenty of time getting you settled around here." She said, as she walked into the bathroom and locked the door.
Well, now that I'm up I might as well go downstairs and make some breakfast. You thought to yourself, while putting on your cloth.
As you walked downstairs and into the kitchen, you were greeted by Spike fully working on the food problem. You hadn't really talked much with Spike last day, so maybe now would be a good time to learn your fellow "House mates" a bit.
"Morning Spike, you slept well?" You said, taking a seat on one of the wooden chairs near the table.
"Like a rock, I see Twilight gave you a bit of extra sleep. You're lucky that you could sleep till 7, she usually wakes me up around 6 each day to make me go downstairs and cook something up." He led out a quick yawn, as he started to cut the various types of greens on the cutting board.
"Wow sound like hard work, are you like a slave or something to her?"
"Naah, not really... Ever since I was an egg I've been with Twilight, she like a sister to me and i would do anything for her. In the beginning it was hard sure, but now it's just a routine. Now, you hungry?" Spike finished up the salad and dropped it all in a bowl and placed it one the table.
"Am I? I'm starving, I can't wait to get something to eat" You screamed out as your stomach let out a small growl. But you were quickly disappointed by what was before you, stacks upon stacks of different kinds of cabbage, tomatoes, apples, pears even bits of what looked like hay could be seen within the salad.
"Uh Spike, not to criticize you cooking skills but. Is this suppose to be breakfast?" You tried to sound as polite as possible, but Spike seemed more confused rather than offended by your comment.
"What do mean? This is what i make every day for Twilight... Oh wait, yeah sorry man. Totally forgot to ask what you ate, so i thought that you'd just have the same as Twilight."
"It cool Spike, sure it'll be no problem eating this. Just never really been a fan of hay, but I guess i'll just leave it on the plate." You said, as you filled your plate.
A few minutes later Twilight came down the stairs, her fur and mane was still a bit wet from the shower. She sat next to you and levitated a plate towards her. You noticed that she was sitting awfully close to you, her fur slowly tickling your skin, but you didn't even bother.
"Morning Twilight, so, what's the plan for today?" you asked as you munched your salad.
"Well, I figured since you were going to stay here in Ponyville for a while, it would be a good idea to learn some of the residence here. Oh and don't even worry about your letter, I got some of the royal guards to look for it. They'll find it eventually." She said, also starting on her food.
"Wait, what? Look Twilight I'm not sure if that's a good idea, Discord told that it was an important letter."
"Don't worry, I told them to give it to Princess Celestia as soon as they found it. Now, finish up your food, we've got a long day ahead of us." Twilight said while finishing her plate.
"Uhhm, okay... But, where are we going again?" You gave Spike your plate, as he was washing up the dishes.
"I'll go upstairs and ready up, why don't you wait outside, see if you can find some friendly faces." Twilight went up the stairs, giving you yet another warm smile
Despite the fact that you only knew her and Applejack, you thought going outside seemed like a good idea. Catching a bit of fresh air wouldn't hurt, right?
As you walked outside, the warmth of the sunlight quickly greeted your body, and the cloudless sky made this day in particular very beautiful. But someone, or somepony as Twilight said would be a better term, had noticing you and was heading straight towards you.
A pink figure, jumping at the speed of light and bumped right into you, knocking you down to the ground with her on top of you. Her huge eyes staring right into yours and the tip of her bobble like pink mane touching your forehead.
"ARRR, YOU MUST BE THIS NEW FRIEND THAT APPLEJACK TALKED ABOUT. OH MY GOSH I CAN'T WAIT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT YOU, BUT YOU DON'T EXACTLY LOOK PONY, WHAT ARE YOU? NO! LET ME GUESS, UHH, I LOVE GUESSING GAMES..." The pink pony continued on her never ending killstreak of words, even though it turned more into mumble rather than actual words.
"Pinkie! Get off of him, give the man some air will ya?" Applejack's voice could be heard behind them, as she pushed Pinkie away and helped you up on your feet.
"Thanks Applejack. Now, how about a proper introduction? I'm (your name), what's your name?" You said while giving her a friendly handshake.
"Hi, I'm Pinkie Pie... The best party planner in all of Ponyville! Oh, that reminds me, we should totally throw you a "Welcome to Ponyville" party! Yes, I'll see you soon... Got some planning to do!" Pinkie then screamed, as she jumped off into the town center.
"Uhh, don't mind Pinkie Pie... She's simply just being herself. So? How's your first night in Ponyville been?" Applejack said while nuzzling you on your left hand. Probably some sort of greeting here in Equestria You thought to yourself.
"Oh morning Applejack, what brings you here on this fine day?" Twilight came out of the library door.
"Well... Pinkie and I were on our way to the market, but after she discovered him, she suddenly had to prepare some party in honor for him. So it wouldn't surprise me if find invitations when we come home. " Applejack said, as she started walking down the street with you and Twilight right next to her.
"Just like when I first came to town, that's so sweet of her. Then you'll get a chance to meet all of us!" Twilight screamed in excitement.
Walking down the streets of Ponyville was quite the view, since you were used to large skyscrapers, streetlamps everywhere and the never ending noise of traffic. But Ponyville was more like a medieval type of town, with old village houses, gravel streets and a more calming atmosphere to it.
Of course some of the town ponies who lived here looked at you once or twice, but you didn't bother at all since you were getting pretty used to this new world filled with ponies. The only thing you found funny about these ponies, was that there were three types of them... Well, more like races. Thanks to Applejack, for you knowing all this.
First there was the Unicorns, masters of magic. Applejack had told you that they were most common in Equestrias capital town, Canterlot. Then there was the Pegasus, masters of sky and weather. In this magical world they were the reason why the weather is at it is, yeah, they actually have a schedule of how the weather is going to be.
And last was the Earth ponies, masters of pretty much everything going on, on the ground. Earth ponies didn't really have a certain power, just like the unicorns or the pegasus. Oh yeah, and then there is Alicorns. God like or just merely princesses of Equestria, just like Twilight.

As time went by, all three of you finally made it to Applejack's stand in the market. You wished her good luck on the sale and started heading towards Sugarcube Corner, the bakery of Ponyville and also Pinkie Pie's home.
"Wait, why are we going to Sugarcube Corner? I thought you said that we should meet some more ponies?" You asked quickly.
"You'll get plenty of time to meet some new ponies. That's what we have Pinkie Pie for, she know everypony in Ponyville. But for now, all we have to do is tell her only to invite me, you, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and of course herself."
"But? Why exactly them, not that I have problem with it. Just, why?"
"Well, since Equestria is going to be your new home and that you aren't really that familiar with the Elements of Harmony, meeting them first would be the best idea." Twilight spoke as you saw, what most likely would have been Sugarcube Corner, judging by its look.
"What? The elements of what now?" You scratched the back of your head, as if you it had sounded familiar to you.
"See. Don't worry, you can get plenty of time with each and one of them at the party. Now, let's just settle down with Pinkie Pie, how the party is going to be, okay?" Twilight said, giving you one of her warm smiles that you've slowly grown to like more and more.
As you walked into the colorful candy shop, the lovely smell of sweets filled your nose. The shop was full of shelves with different kinds of candy, cookies, cupcakes and other various treats. Behind the counter was Pinkie Pie, quickly smiling at you and waving incredibly fast.
"Hey Twilight and hey new guy! What brings you here?" Pinkie walked up to you, hugging Twilight and then gently nuzzling your hand, just like Applejack did.
"Why hello Pinkie, actually we're here to talk to you about your little welcome party for our new friend here."
"Oh yeah, totally forgot that. I was too busy keeping the shop while the Cakes are in Canterlot, I'll get to it soon." Pinkie then went back into the kitchen to start baking.
Both you and Twilight followed her, taking seat by a small table.
"Pinkie, all we wanted was to tell you that you should just invite us six, instead of the entire town. Since this is going to be his new home, I'm sure he'll get plenty of time meeting everyone around." Twilight levitated two muffins standing on the desk and onto your table, after a quick nod from Pinkie to make sure it was okay to take them.
"It's not that it's a problem inviting everyone, I just don't make anything big out of it." You quickly added while taking a bit at the muffin. Rather a bit of heaven! you thought to yourself.
"Sure thing you two, save me some time to prepare other stuff. Don't you worry, I'll make sure that it'll be us six, including him of course." Pinkie randomly giggled after putting the tray of cupcakes into the oven.
"Great, thanks Pinkie. Well then we'll be on our way again, oh and good luck with the shop." Twilight told her friend as you both waved her goodbye and walked outside.

Since the day was still young, you both decided to walk a bit around the marked. Twilight had convinced you into making the dinner for tonight, with a bit of her help of course. The market was full of all kinds of stands with various items to buy, things such as vegetables, furniture, jewelry and more.
After picking up a few things, you finally came to Applejack's stand, where she had been selling apples all day. Twilight greeted her as you were gonna need some apples for tonight.
"Well howdy Twilight, and howdy to you too. So what brings you two here at the marked?" Applejack quickly asked, as she took off her hat and wiped some sweat from her forehead, in a rather intimate way you noticed.
"Evening Applejack, we we're coming along to buy some apples for tonight, I convinced him to make the dinner." Twilight giggled a bit, smiling at you.
"Well now, putting his cooking skills to a test i see. Don't ya' worry Twi, you can get ten for free. Just, don't scream it out loud will ya?" Applejack found a small sack full of juicy looking red apples.
"Of course not Applejack, but I do have to pay you some day. After all this is the fifth time you're giving me free apples." Twilight levitated the sack and handed it towards you, since your hands would have no problem lifting it.
"Now please, we've been friends for a long time now. No need for payment, go along and enjoy the day!" Applejack waved both of you off, as costumers was slowly coming towards her stand.
You both waved her goodbye and agreed that you should return to the library, since there was nothing more you needed at the market.
One the way home the sun had slowly begun to set and the wind had gotten more chilly, and something caught your attention. This was your only set of clothing that you had.
"Uhhm, Twilight? Any idea what I should do when i run out of cloth?" you asked, opening the door into the library for her.
"Oh yeah, don't you worry about that. Rarity knows how to handle clothing and such, I'm sure she'll fix something for you. Actually , you can pay her a visit tomorrow, I'm sure she'll be more than happy to help you." Twilight levitated the different kinds of bags onto the kitchen table, and slowly started to sort the items in small piles.
"Hmmm... I feel like these five ponies are your best friends or something?" You asked while starting on the meal.
"You have no idea, I've been through a lot with them. After all, we're the Elements of Harmony. Anyway, I'm gonna go upstairs for a quick shower. I'll sent Spike down to help you." Twilight smiled at you before heading up the stairs.
After fiddling around with the ingredients, Spike came down and gave you a quick Yo! in a very stereotypical bro way before finding a stool, so that he could help you.
"Sooo... You do realize that Twilight is wild for you right?" Spike suddenly said.
"WHAT? Whatca mean?" You nearly cut yourself from the unexpected news.
"Yeah dude, it's pretty obvious that she's after you. The way she look at you, no doubt that she wan't you as her special "somepony"." Spike was pretty chill, even though you found the subject very awkward.
"I mean, she great and all but... Wouldn't it be wrong? It's not that I'm a pony like her."
"Don't worry, it's pretty normal around her not to date the same race as you. If I were you, I wouldn't let this opportunity pass by." Spike took the final remains of the nearly finished meal and stuffed it in the oven.
"Hmm... I'm not sure, I think I'll need some more time accepting that. But I'm sure that some day I'll give it a try... By the way Spike, thanks for telling me." You washed your hands and started to put plates onto the table.
"No problem dude, but I wouldn't wait too long. Anyway, I'm gonna go upstairs till dinners done." Spike went upstairs once again, most likely for a quick nap before dinner.

A bit of time went by before Twilight came done, just in time for dinner. Spike had of course taking his plate upstairs so that you and Twilight you eat alone, something you knew would be quite awkward after what he said.
"So, how does it taste?" You asked. Waiting for her rating before trying it yourself.
The dinner you had prepared for her, was some sort of apple pie mixed with various ingredients and some salad next to it. Of course not your best creation, but you didn't really have other ideas.
"It's... Surprisingly good, and I thought you would've burn the tree down. Hehe... The foods great, you did a good job." She giggled at her joke. Of course you couldn't help but to laugh with her.
Some minutes went by as both of you were eating, small talking. After both of you finished up you went into kitchen, dropping near the sink and then returned to Twilight, who was sitting on the couch near the fire place. You took seat next to her, wondering what would happen now.
