Living As An Equestrian
Chapter 1: A Rather Strange Day At The Office
Load Full Story Next ChapterAs you threw yourself into the chair and booted up your PC, you took a tired look at the huge pile of paperwork on your desk. Luckily for you it was Friday and you only had to work until 4:00 p.m., even though you've been at the office since 6:00 a.m. While the PC was booting up you went to the kitchen, where the employees could grab a snack and relax from time to time.
From what it looked like you were the only one working, even though it was nearly noon, the entire place was empty. You liked the silence, it had a rather hypnotic feel to it, which you were not used to. Working at an office like this in downtown Manhattan you were used to people constantly talking, telephones ringing and the loud noise of the traffic outside. But not at this time, it was like everyone was sleeping now, well... Besides you. You had some work to finish before you could get to sleep.
A loud beeping noise came from the coffee machine, as it finished up your warm refreshing drink. You took the coffee with you along with a few biscuits, which was the least you could do for your hunger, because you had to skip breakfast since you overslept.
Once again back at your desk with that dusty PC that you've been working on for almost a year now. Each month hoping for something to change in your boring life, which was basically like a hamster running around in its wheel.
Wake up
Go to work
Go home
Sleep
Repeating this procedure every day till the day you die, no... You were already dead, you felt like all you were was a walking corpse that kept repeating the same thing every day. The only thing you wanted was something to change, even some random stranger walking into the office and talking to me would be a change. You thought to yourself.
"Speaking of the devil are we now?" A voice said from behind, scaring the living crap out of you and nearly making you spill your coffee.
When you turned around you were greeted by a rather tall person in a brown raincoat, a pair of green golf shorts and a pink top hat. After taking a quick look at his appearance you looked up towards his face, a pair of red eyes were looking back at you. Long goat like beard was making its way down his chin, and he had a smug look on his face.
"Sorry but, may I ask who you are and what you're doing here?" You said with a suspicious feeling for this stranger.
"Who I am is none of your concern, but what I can offer you may be." He said, walking towards a chair while pulling out an apple from one of his inner pockets.
"What do you mean?"
He didn't answer your question, but instead leaned back in his chair while admiring the apple in his hands. You were not sure what most concerned you, the fact that you didn't know this man, or his weird look. Either way you wanted some answers and you wanted them NOW.
"Look man, I am fine with you not telling me who you are, but at least tell me what you want. I've got some important work ahead of me." You said, this time with a more serious tone in your voice.
"Oh, important really? Yeah, I highly doubt that it can be more important than what I've got for you." The man said, holding back a laugh at you calling your work important.
You didn't know how but he was kinda right, the pile of paperwork you had on your table was nowhere near important, not for your life nor your career. The longer you were with this man, the more worried you got for what he might do.
"So, what is it that YOU can offer me that is more important than my work right now?" You asked.
"Well, to make a long story short. A friend of mine told me that you needed a chance for a fresh start at life, a chance for a better life than the one you have now. So she sent me to this world to give you this ONE chance to change everything." He said with a serious tone, while handing you what looked like a golden coin.
You took the coin out of his hand and inspected it for a minute, it wasn't a form of currency that you were familiar with, but there was one thing that struck you as interesting about the shining coin. on the top of the coin, it said Equestria, whatever that was? You thought to yourself.
"And what exactly do I use this for?" You said, still looking at the coin in your hand.
"Oh nothing really, it’s just for good luck. Now, I will give you 24 hours to make up your mind. When the 24 hours have passed I will meet with you once more, but as I said you will only get this ONE chance, spend your hours wisely." The man said, finishing his apple and tossing it into a trashcan.
After a few seconds of silence he finally stood up and walked towards the exit, looking back at you with a weird smile while waving his hand.
"I will see you soon my dear friend!" He yelled fairly loud while making a turn at the hallway. As he disappeared you quickly ran after him, but by the time you turned the corner he was already gone. Confused and tired you returned to your desk to begin the long day of work ahead of you.
