Twilight sees Colgate and her forces setting sail for Equestria and gets a smile on her face. She realizes that her enemies are not going to have time to get their forces trained while her's will. That night after supper she held a meeting with her Alicorn allies and her officers. She stood at the front of the room and started, "Alright everypony, Colgate and her minions departed Alicorn Island this morning. They should reach the coast in approximately four days, so what we need to do is have two days of high intensity military exercises and then relax and remain alert until our enemy arrives."

LaurFa asked, "So Twilight, what are your plans for the enemies if we are able to defeat them?"

Twilight, like she always answers to questions like this shouted, "What do you mean IF we are able to defeat them. Don't you mean WHEN we defeat them?" She sighed and continued, "You know LaurFa, sometimes I really wonder about you. First you claim that I was too harsh on Flash Sentry and now here you are questioning our ability to win this battle? Maybe I should just banish you to the void right now."

Celestia jumped in front of LaurFa and said, "Twilight, please stop threatening to banish everypony to the void when they say something that angers you. It isn't good for morale."

Twilight was angered that Celestia would dare question her actions but knew that she was right, so she decided to calm down. Twilight grunted, "Yeah, you're right Celestia. Maybe I do get a bit out of control every now and then."

Colonel Black Mist asked, "Twilight, what time do you want to start the exercises tomorrow? I will get them up as early as possible if need be."

Twilight smiled and replied, "Just start them after breakfast. Making them start before breakfast would be a bad idea, it would really hurt their morale."

Galaxia asked, "What about the rest of us? Those that are not regular soldiers?"

Twilight replied, "All of us, including myself, shall work with the soldiers. We all need to have our skills honed to perfection, and of course I will monitor the enemy as well."

While Twilight was holding her post-supper meeting Colgate and her forces were sailing east. Brevity and Colgate were standing at the front of the main carrier. Brevity asked, "Colgate, aren't you even the tiniest bit worried about this? You know that with them being re-made that they will be far more powerful than before."

Colgate glared at her and replied, "Brevity, you are by far the most powerful pony in existence. I don't understand why you would have an ounce of fear and why you would have a plan of action if it looks like we are going to lose."

Brevity said, "Well Brevity knows that any good leader always has a backup plan. She paused for a few seconds and continued, "Brevity is beginning to wonder if it would be better for us to start fresh on a new planet anyway."

Colgate asked, "Why is that?"

Brevity glared at the Supreme Commander and growled, "Because of your reckless behavior, part of this planet has been rendered uninhabitable." She then asked, "Colgate, if we do have to go to a new world, you can refrain from splitting uranium atoms can't you?"

Colgate replied, "Yes Brevity, I can. Hopefully there won't be any battles or wars on that planet IF we have to go there. Proper leadership over each nation will prevent that."

Brevity just rolled her eyes because she knew that eventually if a war erupted, that since she already knows the spell, that Colgate would not hesitate to use the deadliest form of warfare possible. She also knew that Scootaloo is a carbon copy of Colgate when it comes to war and would most likely use the same tactics.

The following morning arrives in Ponyville and after breakfast everypony had gathered at the base. Like she was in the past, Rarity was reluctant to take part in the exercises. She raised her hoof and asked, "Twilight, do those of us who aren't soldiers really have to take part in these? Can't we just fire energy at them?"

Rarity asking this brought back so many memories for Twilight, ones that were not very pleasing to her. She shouted, "Rarity, DO NOT start this crap again. I feel like it is four thousand years ago all over again."

Rainbow Dash added, "You know what Rarity, we need to be on the top of our game. We need to be as agile as possible and we may have to engage in old fashioned battle tactics, the type that earth ponies and pegasi engaged in long before magic was used in warfare."

Twilight was smiling over Rainbow's comment. She said, "Thank you Rainbow. I'm beginning to think that with that mentality, you should be my second in command."

This slightly upset her other allies, especially LaurFa, who is more qualified than Rainbow yet not as loyal. Twilight looked at Rainbow and asked, "So Rainbow, what would you think? Would you want to be my second in command and first in line to the throne?"

Rainbow was ecstatic. She never imagined that she would be elevated to that position. She replied, "You bet I would! Anything for you Twi."

Twilight asked, "With that being the case Rainbow, your first task will be leading every military exercise. Think you could get them started?"

Rainbow nodded and enthusiastically replied, "You got it boss!"

Something strange was beginning to happen to LaurFa. She didn't know why but she just couldn't shake this nagging voice in her head telling her that Twilight was not a true friend of her's, that she had done something horrible to her in the past, but she continued to be loyal to Twilight.

Time seemed to pass by slowly for both Twilight and Colgate as both were just itching to get this final battle out of the way. Finally four long days had passed and Colgate's ships made landfall. Just like with every other ship that had ever made landfall along that part of the Equestrian coast, those on board feasted on the apples that grow there. In Ponyville Twilight was watching their every move and decided that the time had come to warn her forces.

She flew down to the base where everypony else was resting. Twilight landed on her platform which caused everypony to stand at attention. Twilight saw this and said, "At ease."

Captain Black Ice asked, "Twilight, is the time near?"

Twilight replied, "Yes Captain, the time is near. They have just arrived at the coast. Whether they will attack today or wait until tomorrow is beyond me."

Rainbow asked, "Twilight, why would they wait until tomorrow? I would think that they would head in as soon as possible."

Twilight replied, "Well by the time they would arrive here it would be dark and I'm not sure how Colgate and Brevity feel about attacking at night."

Galaxia said, "Well if Colgate is as bloodthirsty as you say she is, I'm sure she would attack at night when we would be more vulnerable."

Twilight smiled and replied, "Good point Galaxia. Troops, we do not go to bed tonight, we remain alert and keep our eyes fixed on the western horizon."

Rarity asked, "Twilight, when are you going to duplicate the soldiers? After all, I don't think we have as many as Colgate will be bringing in with her."

Twilight rolled her eyes and replied, "I will do it an hour or so after sunset since our enemies will likely attack at night."

At the coast Colgate's forces were finishing their meal getting ready for the upcoming battle. Standing next to Colgate, who thirsted for Twilight's blood, were Fluttershy and Scootaloo, who both were equally as bloodthirsty, along with the unsure Brevity Thrash. Scootaloo knew that Brevity was rarely like this and asked, "Brevity, why are you so nervous? You are so powerful you could wipe them out easily."

Brevity replied, "Brevity is not sure Scootaloo. You know how we have our sixth sense?"

Scootaloo said, "Yes."

Brevity continued, "Well it keeps on telling us that since our enemies were remade, that they may not be able to be unmade again and that we could be cast in chains."

Fluttershy scoffed at this comment. She growled, "What? Precious little Twily defeat us? Well Fluttershy doesn't think so! We shall feast on Twily's lifeless corpse!"

It was bothering Brevity because everypony else seemed so confident, almost overly confident in her opinion. Fluttershy's comment about feasting on Twilight's corpse especially bothered her. She began to realize that she was becoming more like Scootaloo and Colgate in developing a taste for blood.

Finally everything is all set. Colgate and her forces are ready to fly east while Twilight and her forces had their eyes glued to the western horizon but one of Colgate's officers had a plan that could very well catch their foes off guard.
