Prologue - When She Comes [Revised - Edited]

Trixie was dwelling in her feelings. She ran into a forest, not Everfree Forest, but a forest that once stood in Ponyville environs. The tears on her face were mixing with the rain, making her cry even more and thinking about what had happened. The problem was that she didn't remember anything. She had woken up in the middle of nowhere with bruises on her face and without her cape and hat. She was sure she had lost her dignity, as usual. If she refused to accept the fact that she was not the best unicorn of all Equestria, she would continue to live in the shadow of an idiot.

That idiot is Twilight Sparkle. Chosen by Princess Celestia and graced by great power to be the bearer of the Element of Magic, Trixie did not like her. She never stopped thinking about her since the day of their first duel.

Obviously, this was not the best time to think of an enemy. Trixie knew, that in some way, shape, or form, Twilight could help her. Trixie was scared and too weak to go back to that hurtful town. She was so weak that she was already losing strength in her legs and her sight was blurred by the tears coming out of her eyes uncontrollably.

The mare decided to rest and forget all that had happened. Rather, remember and then forget. Try as she might, Trixie could not remember anything that happened. She remembers going to Baltimare and did a show there, which surely was a total fiasco. After that, her mind drew a blank.

Even if Trixie wanted to stay awake and try to remember, she could not due to too much fatigue. She then fell asleep under a tree in the forest, amidst the rain, which was becoming weak. Soon after, the mare plunged into a deep sleep; still beneath the tree, she tried to travel through her dreams and, possibly, remember something of what had occurred.

Nearby, Twilight Sparkle, the Element of Magic, had gone with her favorite sidekick, Spike, into the forest to pick some blackberries. Spike was eery of that forest, but it sure was better than the Everfree.

"Oh, there they are!” Twilight exclaimed when see the blackberries in a nearby bush. “Spike, pick the berries and place them in this basket.” Said when she made a basket magically appear in the claw of her assistant. Twilight smiled and sat on the ground, waiting for the dragon to finish his work.

While Spike hummed and worked, Twilight took the opportunity to take a brief walk in the woods. Departing from her assistant, Twilight walked along the grass and saw blood stains in the grass and mud. 'Now, what in Equestria happened here?', she thought. Trotting a little more, she realizes where and who it came from.

Trixie.

It was her enemy, but why she was on the ground with bruises. It seems like she fell asleep and then fainted. After all Twilight would help the boastful show-mare. Possibly, she could teach the magic of friendship to Trixie and show that the ponies could learn to accept her back in Ponyville.

"Spike!" Twilight called. Some seconds later, the dragon came running up with basket full of blackberries. “Help me with her,” Twilight commanded.

"Trixie?!"

“Yes, this is Trixie. Now help me! Go ahead to check that there is no danger ahead, I'll take her on my back.” Twilight said and  levitated the unconscious mare to her back. Spike, however, gave her a disapproving look and then swallowed his pride and took off ahead.

Twilight laid Trixie on her new couch and waited patiently for the mare to wake up from her sleep. Eventually, she got bored and read a book. Read this, read that, read up who she had read and fell asleep too.

The next morning…

The chirping of birds woke Twilight. And a surprise: Trixie was moving. She let out a soft moan and then yawned, opening her eyes ever so slowly. Opening her eyes, Trixie got a shock and, thanks to it, she fell off the couch. 'Who was that next to me?' She thought and then looked up at the couch. 'TWILIGHT SPARKLE!?' She thought and got up.  “Where is Trixie?” she asked Twilight in the third person, as usual.

“Finally! Your awake, now I can learn what happened," Twilight said.

“The problem is one that even Trixie doesn't know…” Trixie trailed off.

“What? But… You… Oh, Sweet Celestia!”, Twilight did not understand. 'How could Trixie not know what happened? She was there and she should have remembered! Unless, she has memory loss and cannot remember the night before last.' Twilight thought. Twilight only knew she should help her. “You are in my house, and please, do not use third person, at least to me.”

“Oh well, Tri… I mean, I really don’t remember anything. I think somepony hurt me or… I just don’t know, but I woke up in the forest when it was raining,” Trixie took a deep breath and continued, “You see, I don’t have my cape or hat and my bruises are putting me in a state of pain.”

“Ok, hmm… Let me see…”, Twilight thought of something that could help her. The best thing to do was to clean the scratches with soap and warm water; that's what she did. Soon after, she led to Trixie, who gave her a suspicious look and didn't seem to know what laid ahead.

“Are you going to clean me?” Trixie asked.

“Yes. For your bodily health.” Twilight assured.

“No, I refuse this.” Trixie fought back.

“Trixie…” Twilight argued.

“All right, but because you asked with way, Sparkle”, said Trixie when she sit on the sofa and held out her hoof, showing the first cut. When Twilight put the hot and sterile cloth on the wound, Trixie instantly pulled her hoof away. Due to that, she received a nasty grimace from her caregiver.

“Trixie, I need you to let me do this if you want to walk without a limp!” she scolded.

“But it hurts!” Trixie whined

“I know, hang on a moment if you don't want to deal with this pain any longer than you should.” Twilight tried to calm the mare.

“Fine…” Trixie admitted in defeat.

“After that I will ask you some questions,” said Twilight.

Trixie did not respond. She just kept complaining about the pain. Twilight knew there would be a long day ahead. Especially when Trixie kept complained, and the Element of Magic was half repentant for bringing Trixie there. But she had to think that soon enough it would be worthwhile, right?
