Chapter 2: The Die is Cast

The Die is Cast

Jayei turned looking back at the Sun goddess with a neutral look.

“You got a lot of guts to say my name after all these years Celestia. You got some guts taking me from my home. What do you want? It better be important for you to kidnap me.”

Celestia lets out a sigh, “Twilight, you know why i've brought you here, I need your help. This war is getting out of control, I fear I might have to resort to more...Drastic measures to win. Id rather not if I can avoid it.”

“What do you mean drastic measures? And remind me on why you kidnapped me. It’s been a few years Celestia.” The other alicorn crossed her arms while her wings twitched a little agitation.

“These ‘Drastic measures’ I speak of involve using some….Experimental science and magic. And I kidnapped you because i'm fairly sure that you if I had tried to get your attention any other way, you would have either ignored me or threatened me. Your agitation towards me is justifiable. Looking back I did over react to what you tried to do.”

“You think? Beside I did what was right besides you’re fucking insane as it is. You would seriously release those things?” She looked at her in disbelief.

“I would do whatever is necessary to protect my nation Twilight. Even creating ‘Them’ ” Celestia had a strange look on her face for a second. “I will admit that your actions have resulted in the the project being damaged and things…..not going as planned. But the past has its ways of affecting the future. I'm not asking you to return to Equestria for good. Im asking you to fight this war with me, not for me. If necessary ill pay you whatever you wish.”

“And why should I do that? I got my own problems Celestia….. You can't control them can you?” She cocked her head to the side.

“I wouldn't say that I can't control them, more that….They aren't what I expected to get out of the project. I've learned from the mistakes I made with them, I'd rather not have to resort to trying to resurrect the old project Twilight. Besides that, do you really think that I want to do this? Any of this?”

“Besides the fact that you’re bat shit crazy? Yes. I think you want to test out your little toys. And as for the the project what makes you think you can do it? When the only reason you got as far as you did was because of me. And remember I destroyed or leaked enough that your allies wouldn’t help you for using biological weapons. And you still haven’t convinced me on why I should give a damn about this place. I told you I have my own problems in my own country.” She raised a eyebrow at her watching her emotions

Celestia again had a strange look on her face, not quite confident, not arrogant. But strangely comfortable. It was odd, “My allies don't know anything but what you've told them. And regardless of your own personal feeling on it, it was not your place to even attempt to expose it. What you did was treason Twilight, plain and simple. Regardless of that, the project was severely damaged by what you did Twilight, those soldiers could have saved the lives of many Equestrian soldiers. We were at war then and we are now. We do what me must.”

“As a princess of this land at the time I saw a threat to our people. It may be treason but I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Those ‘Things’ couldn’t be controlled and were extremely violent they would have cause more deaths than saved them. So that should be your answer on helping you now if you will excuse me I’m going home. I have my own people to lead.” She turned and started to walk away

“Tell me something before you go. What made you so sure that they would have been uncontrollable or violent? I will give you violent, but uncontrollable? The project never reached the cultivation period. We never even got close to successfully creating one, and yet...You acted because you believed that they might have been uncountable or violent? If we had successfully created one and it had been out of control, I agree you would have been justified in your actions. But acting on a theory, without any evidence to back it up...How is that a logical choice? And let me ask you this, if you had been wrong and one was created and it wasn't uncontrollable or violent...Would you have done what you did?”

“Yes. Are you kidding me? It was wrong and you freaking know it. Those volunteers were lied to. We cut them apart and drugged them. Not only that you remember the lab accidents and and their tests. They weren't there anymore they were more animal than anything else. I did what I did because it was the right thing to do. Even if you got one that was controllable the things that had to be done was savage. It wasn’t right and you know it. Maybe if you didn’t start wars you wouldn’t need bioweapons.” Twilight growled as she threw her arms up.

“I never said what I was doing was right. Only necessary. But I can see that I would have an easier time convincing a dragon to give up its hoard then convincing you to assist me. So be it, go back to your new home then. I shall let you leave unmolested.” Twilight frowned at that. “Just like that? You're not going to fight me? Or try to force me?” Celestia had a neutral look on her face as well now. “ No i'm not, if you want to leave. Leave. I won't try to stop or force you, I tried to ask you for help. Not demand it.” Twilight knew something was very wrong here. Celestia was far too calm and willing to let her go.

“Alright. Well then I need transport back home. Seeing as you like to body snatch people. I’ll be sure to charge you.” She still had a weary look on her face.

“Now how exactly would I do that? The griffons control the airways and the changelings are patrolling the seas. Any planes or ships I send will always get shot down or attacked on sight. You surely have the means to get yourself home, I will compensate you for the trouble, but I can't supply you with the means myself. Unless you'd like to make enemies of some of your associates by slaughtering their soldiers.” She still had that calm look on her face something that was unnerving the younger alicorn.

“My associates? What would you know about my associates anyway” She narrowed her eyes at her fellow alicorn.

“Less and more than you might think Twilight. You're very good at what you do Twilight. But don't underestimate what one can accomplish when you've lived as long as I have. You tend to get connections that can’t be acquired in a...Conventional or unconventional way. Sometimes, history is everything, and bloodlines remember favors. For a very, very long time. If it helps, I haven't attempted to harm or infiltrate you in any way and you can check if you want to confirm i'm not lying.” Celestia said putting her hands behind her back.

“All except for bringing me here huh? Looks like I’ll have to look into my own organization. Alright I’ll find my own way. Oh and a word of advice princess. accept your defeat or get on the battlefield yourself. Be the leader you are or at least were in my eyes.” With that she turned and started to head towards the doors.

“Heartsbane.”

Twilight turned around, “ What?”

“Heartsbane, that's the traitor in your ranks, along with his soldiers, all expect for his lieutenant, he is loyal to you. But Heartsbane and his soldiers are plotting to betray you in a rather cunning way. Their trap will be sprung when next you leave your home based upon your return.” Celestia said as the soldiers she knocked out earlier came out of the room she was in.

Twilight raised an eyebrow at Celestia, “Why tell me this?”

Celestia only smiled. ” Consider this a….Sign of good faith. I have no wish to fight any more than I have to.”

“Why? I find it hard to believe that you do this out of the kindness of your heart.” She sighed running her fingers through her mane.

“Call me old fashion, but if there is one thing in this world I despise its honorless traitors, perhaps my own can be called into question. But never doubted.” The white alicorn stated as she crossed her arms and put her weight on her right leg.

“Only your sanity princess….. Thanks.. Can I go now?” Twilight asked pointing to the doors. “And you’re sure that your guards around going to stop me..”

“Yes. I've given explicit orders that you are not to be harmed in any way, regardless of how our meeting turned out. But, you know how young, stupid soldiers get, charging in headfirst and ignoring orders. If they do so, deal with them as you see fit.” Celestia waved her hand at the other mare.

“Alright…” She turned and left as a soldier came up to her side.

“Ma’am? Orders?” He saluted her.

“Watch her soldier, if she attacks any of our soldiers without provocation, report it to me. If she acts in self defense do not interfere. I'd rather she think something is off here, than suspect the truth. My plan is nearly complete, all that's left is for things to fall into place.” The soldier nodded and walked off following Twilight. Celestia then turned around and walked towards her study. Once inside she sat down in a luxurious chair and allowed a satisfied smile to cross her face.

‘All is going according to plan. I must be cautious, one slip up and it all falls apart. But at least i'm sure that Twilight will become very curious about what exactly im doing here. By the time she figures it out, it will be too late.’ She frowned for a second and looked at a picture of her and Twilight from a few years ago. A saddened look crossed her face

‘The die is cast...I have to see this through now...I have to. For Equestria.’
