CHAPTER TWENTY TWO: Lost Love

After sneaking out of Canterlot Castle, I used my magic to attempt to find The Darkness, or at least Mr. Bleak so he could lead to to them. I was the reason they had returned, I was the reason for the return of Richard, and Spark's innocence. I was going to redeem myself, no matter what it takes. I transformed into Fall Angel, and began to search for The Darkness. It wasn't long until I found a group of them heading towards the ruins of my old house back at The Ever Free Forest. I landed on the ground.

"Lookin' for me?" I challenged, yelling at the group of Darkness. They turned around, three pegasus, with a much larger unicorn leading them.

"So, Dorchester. You have finally figured out it out, we were expecting this turn of events."

Before he could finish, I began to throw my spear like arms, formed from the feathers of my wings at the group. How did they block them, I had no idea.

"This... Fallen Angel that you speak of, it is the part of Lace Danneggiato that is inside of you!" One of The Darkness said.

"If that is so, I will use it's power for good!" I blasted a wave of darkness at the group. Taking three of them out, but leaving the unicorn alone.

"Just me and you, do you really think she still cares for you? She feels sorry for you! Your 'friends' are nothing more then sympathetic fools that think they can save themselves, and you." The unicorn challenged, stomping his hoof onto the ground, sending a unexpected shockwave at me, blasted me back a few feet. I was able to catch the ground.

"Look at you! A failed attempt of love, do you think it can help you? I know what you think. The Lunar Events only guaranteed his return, and your corruption."

"I AM NOT A FAILURE!" I roared, I fired bolts of magic at the unicorn, only a few hit him. He didn't seem phased.

"Your anger makes you a failure! Love is a four letter lie! This "paradise" that you live in, is nothing more then a dream!"

"Luna never cared for you. She never did."

"SHE CARES FOR ME!" I charged at the unicorn, catching him off guard, sending him back a few feet. He laughed.

"She feels sorry for you!"

"SHE IS MY FAMILY!" I couldn't contain it any longer. I fired my Arms of Darkness at the unicorn, blasting him back. This time he looked wounded, but not enough.

"Family? What family?"

"SHUT UP!" I roared with rage, I felt all my energy leave my body. I fell into his trap, I really was a fool... I collapsed on the ground, and saw a pitch black smoke mixed with dark purple swirl out of my chest, and connected with the unicorn. Right then I realized, he was the last of them. I felt weak, I tried to get up. I felt an intense pain from my head, and my sides. My wings... my horn... they where vanishing! My coat began to lighten, soon I was my old, regular Dorchester. I was no longer an alicorn.

This can't be happening!

We've doomed Equestria!

"No... not yet..." I hissed, I forced myself up.

"Such power! From such a weak little source of life. Is this love that I am witnessing? Or is this pure foolishness?" The unicorn's horn began to grow, soon it began to swirl around him, incasing him inside a hard shell, the dark matter sank into the husk, and everything went pitch black. The last thing I saw was Luna, Frederic, Celestia, Lance, and Mr. Bleak rushing towards me.

Dorchester! Ryan! Stay... strong...

No... this... is... the end...

I blacked out...

I awoke next to Luna, Frederic, Celestia, Lance, and Mr. Bleak. What I saw before me shocked me, it was Lace Danneggiato! It had my head, yet it was in the form of a snake. A large scar masked it's right cheek, a king cobra's body was what I saw, massive, sharp tooth like plates spiked out from it's back, while demonic, torn wings spread from it's sides. You know that dinosaur that has loose skin, and when it feels challenged, it spreads it out and shoots this type of blinding ink at you? Lace Danneggiato had something like that, but on both sides of it's face.

"I AM LACE DANNEGGIATO! I AM CORRUPTED LIGHT! I AM THE SPIRIT OF DORCHESTER'S ANGER! THAT OF WHICH CANNOT BE CONTAINED! I AM THAT OF DORCHESTERS LUST, HIS PAIN AND HIS ANGER! A COMBINATION TO BE RECKONED WITH, THE DARKNESS IS THE NEW GENERATION! I WILL BRING UPON WHAT LUNA COULD NOT, ETERNAL DARKNESS! THE HEAVENS WILL BLEED, THE EARTH ITSELF WILL SHATTER!"

Lace's snake like eyes fixed upon us, and it roared with insane laughter.

"EVERY SOUL HAS IT'S OWN SPIRIT OF ANGER, I AM RYAN'S."

"I will not... let... them die..." I whispered. Luna held me in her hooves, she was sobbing. Lace's snake body rose from The Great Whirlpool, against the cliff's, next to the ruins of my old house. Once again, it roared with laughter.

"Luna never cared for you! Her power corrupted her views! Love is nothing, love is less then the dirt that you tread upon!"

"Don't listen to him Luna! We can defeat him!" Lance yelled. Twilight Sparkle had appeared with The Mane Six.

"Ryan..." Luna still held me, I was barley awake. I felt myself slipping away, Lace drained the life out of me, to fuel his own.

"Gaze upon the new world! And despair!"

"I will not... let things end like this." I shoved myself out of Luna's grasp. I felt like WALL-E when he was looking for the plant after nearly being thrown out to space. Weak, and almost out of light. I looked up at Lace, and he stared back at me.

"You are nothing but a monster Ryan... can't you see that?"

I stared into it's eyes. Cracks formed around it's eyes, like earth breaking.

"I am anything... but a monster..." I yelled out with the last of my strength. I collapsed. I heard an ear piercing roar of agony.

"NO!"

Was it over? Did I do it? Was it that easy? I heard a massive splash, and everything went silent. I heard hoof steps. My body was lifted up, I heard crying, and tears splashed against my shoulder. Luna was crying, hard. Everypony else had gathered around and watched as Luna held me close to her chest and wept. I felt myself slowly slipping away, more and more.

"Luna..." I managed to get out.

"Ryan?" Luna gasped, she held me closer.

"Luna... I... forgive you..." My world went black. My breathing slowed, until my body ran cold...

Ryan... Dorchester... was dead.

"RYAN! NOO!" Luna screamed out, Twilight burrowed herself into Lance's side and began to weep. Mr. Bleak looked down, tears streaming from his face. Rarity and Peter held each other close, Rainbow Dash floated above the ground, completely speechless. Frederic walked over and put his hoof on Luna's shoulder. Luna continued to cry.

"Ryan... please... come back..." Luna sniffled. Tears ran down Celestia's face as she watched her younger sister mourned over the death of Ryan.

"He was... like a brother to me." Frederic said, he wiped his tears away with his hoof.

"Dorchester... please! Come back! I miss you! I love you!"

"He did so much..."

"Why did it have to end like this?" Applejack moaned.

"He was a great pony. I will never forget him." Lance said. Celestia looked over at Luna.

"We will have a proper burial, burn his body into ashes, and spread them across these ruins as a sign of respect for his sacrifice." Celestia whispered into Luna's ear. She barley heard her.

"PLEASE! DON'T LEAVE ME! DORCHESTER! I ACCEPT YOUR APOLOGY! COME BACK! PLEASE!" Luna wept. Waves crashed upon the cliff side, it was all over... The Darkness was truly defeated, but at a great cost.

The Next Day...

Everypony had gathered that knew Dorchester, Mr. Bleak, Fawn, Greg, David, Rarity, Fluttershy, everypony had gathered for this day. Luna and Frederic held in their hooves Dorchester's ashes, as themselves had known him best. Celestia approached the stand and began to speak.

"Here in our hooves, last night, as many of you have heard, we lost a great friend, one of our family. Ryan, many of you knew him as Dorchester, god-father of Luna and Frederic's two children, Star Chaser and Nova. His heroic final moments will not be forgotten, as he stood up to his own corruption, his own anger, and defeated it. Please join us as we spread his ashes upon the ruins of his home, as a sign of respect, and a rememberance of the great sacrifice he made." Celestia nodded to Luna and Frederic, who opened the jar, and spread the ashes upon the ground. When the jar was empty, Celestia said prayers in Ryan's name.

Everypony finished with their speeches. But Luna's, was the most saddening.

"I grew lustfull, I wanted somepony to be with me... I took Ryan away from his family, his friends, his own universe for my own pleasure. I learned my lesson, and I knew that Ryan would return to seek his revenge on me. I prepared for the worst, but what I received, was the best pony I had ever met. Ryan changed my entire life, he gave me a new hope, a new meaning to life. He was... different then others I have met, but that's what made him special. That's what made him... Dorchester."

Everypony returned to their homes, filled with grief. Luna went to the scene of Dorchester's death that night, and looked upon the ruins of his home.

"I'll miss you Ryan. I'll always remember you, that is... a promise I will never break."
