Chapter 1: The Flare That Rewrote The Rulers

The Flare That Rewrote The Rulers

It was just another day for the Crystal Empire and its' inhabitants. The town was glistening in the sunlight as it always does on a Sunday morning, the Crystal Ponies were going about their daily business and all was thought to be well and good, until today that is, but I'll get to that in a moment.

In the centre of the empire, stood a massive structure that looked a lot like the earth monument "The Eiffel Tower" With 4 leg like pylons keeping it upright and stable and the all-powerful Crystal Heart working its' magic in the generator spikes beneath. Inside the castle, on the balcony, Shining Armour and Cadence were overlooking their glorious empire flourishing in the daylight. Besides them, were their sister, Princess Twilight Sparkle, and their commander of the crystal palace guard, Flash Sentry.

"Do you always have to hold me like that?" Flash said as he noticed Twilight was holding his hoof as they gazed down onto the empire town.

"Oh, sorry about that." Twilight blushed as she slightly loosened her grip, "It's just that you remind me of him. The other Flash Sentry, I mean."

"It's alright, Your Highness." He raised a hoof over her shoulder, causing the purple alicorn to blush some more, "It's a common mistake to make."

"Hey, Twily." Shining turned to face Twilight, causing Flash to keep his distance, "May I ask you something?"

"Sure, Shiny. What do you want to know?" Twilight asked as she knew it was always something interesting that spilled out of Shining's lips as he asked her questions.

"If there is another world with weird beings that perfectly portray us but in a different form, was there the off chance that there was a copy of me and Cadence in this other world?"

"Sorry, Shiny." Twilight sighed, "I didn't really see you or Cadence in Canterlot High. For some weird reason."

He sighed, "I just want to know if there's someone who can match me in the field of battle. Everypony I fought was wiped out in a second when they challenged me for the throne."

"Oh lighten up, Shining Armour." Cadence retracted from the balcony and nuzzled him on the neck, "Why should you let life get you down on a beautiful day like this?"

"It's just that I've just been so bored lately." He said as he started to make his way back inside the castle, "Running an entire empire with your wife can get very stressful and repetitive sometimes."

"Yes but, why let it get in the way of your life?" Cadence started to follow him back inside, "Come on, I know just what to do to get you out of this rut of repetition."

After the two monarchs went back inside for some R&R, Twilight and Flash continued to gaze down on the empire with a smile growing.

"Twilight. Do you think everything's gonna be alright?" Flash asked her with a little worry and concern, "What if the Changelings mount a retaliation for what Shining and Cadence did to Chrysalis?"

"Trust me, Flash." Twilight said with confidence, "If the Changelings wanted to exact their revenge, they would have done it by now."

"I guess you're right on that note."

"Trust me, With Cadence and Shining Armour's forcefield running over the kingdom, nothing could possibly go wro-"

Suddenly, a deafening explosion was heard, and there was a red ball of archaic magic suddenly expanding in the sky of the empire. The ball had red lightning around the base and some just floating around the ever-growing ball as its' magic came closer and closer towards the castle.

"Oh boy." Flash said as he heard the sounds of thunder mash with the red ball of magic.

"What is it?" Twilight asked, as she had never seen this occurance before in her life.

"We need to move, NOW!" Flash took her hoof and galloped into the castle, yanking Twilight all the while.

Before Twilight could even say anything, she heard another noise. The shatter of glass informed her that the forcefield had been breached and the empire was being enveloped in the red ball of archaic magic.

"What's going on?" Twilight asked as she and Flash were now running from a stream of red energy.

"The empire has been breached by a Class 7 Temporal Fracture!" Flash told her as they were leaping over another stream coming from the walls, "We need to find shelter so that-"

They were quickly wrapped in the magical force, but quickly scrambled to their feet as they discovered that they were unchanged. They got back up onto their feet and ran through the red energy through the castle once more.

"What's our plan?" Twilight said as they stumbled aimlessly through the red tinted castle.

"Don't you always hate being belittled and pushed around?" A feminine disembodied voice said as they ran through the redness, "I can fix that in mere seconds!"

"Who are you? And what are you doing to the Crystal Empire?" Twilight demanded from the voice as they kept running.

"I have made you the eldest sister now. You should be thanking me." The voice said before vanishing into nothingness.

The red energy that they were running through was now violently shaking and disorientating itself before it completely faded away in a poof of red energy. This knocked Flash and Twilight to the ground for roughly 20-30 seconds before getting back up again.

"What was that?" Twilight asked.

"A Class 7 Temporal Fracture." Flash Sentry told her, "A rare occurance that only happens once in a blue moon."

"Yes, other than its' name and time of year. WHAT is it?"

"A high concentration of magical power, caused by no unicorn or alicorn. It just flares up all on its' own." Flash started explaining, "Class 7 Temporal Fractures are always made of archaic magic from another existance. If ponies stay in the energy too long, or intake too much of it, who knows what could happen?"

"How do you know about this?" Twilight said with a raised eyebrow.

"Celestia and Luna gave me an intelligence and physical fitness examination before sending me off to co-ordinate the Crystal Empire troops." Flash said, "It took me 8 weeks of studying to perfect it but nonetheless I was ready to go and not about to let anything stop it."

"How is everypony in the castle? I hope nothing happened to Cadence and Shiny." Twilight said as they made their way towards the bedroom of her brother and sister.

"As long as those two are unaffected, we should be fine." Flash said as they stopped at the door of the bedroom.

Flash and Twilight were about to open the door, until they heard foal whines and crying on the other side.

"Do you hear that?" Twilight asked as they listened closely, "It sounds like foals on the other side."

"But, Shining Armour and Cadence never gave birth or adopted a child." Flash said with a confused and worried tone.

"Uh-oh." Twilight said as she pieced Flash's analogy in her mind, "If they never had kids, then, who's in there?"

"I've got a bad feeling about this."

As the two ponies opened the door, they saw a very weird sight. Shining and Cadence had been reduced to foals and their bedroom had been changed into a nursery to fit their new state. There was a range of foalish toys and whatnot and a crib wide enough for two foals.

"We're in pretty hot water, Flash!" Twilight said as she gazed at the two foals that were once her brother and sister.

"We sure are, Your Highness!" He said as he followed suit and kept looking at the two foals with his jaw dropped.
