Chocolates and Flowers
Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Picnic Preparations
Load Full Story Next ChapterThe morning in Ponyville was like any other, quiet and calm. Nothing was happening to disturb the repose of the inhabitants of the town. Not since Cerberus came to visit, anyway. Twilight Sparkle, a lavender coloured mare, was stirring from her restful and well deserved slumber. But, she couldn’t sleep for much longer. She had way too much to do on this day. She let out a yawn as she started adjusting to the daylight. She smelt a delicious aroma coming from the kitchen. She knew who was cooking it, and as to be polite she decided to have some, which wasn’t her original plan. She walked into the kitchen and saw her temporary roommate, a white unicorn with a beautiful mane, standing at the stove. It was none other than Rarity, designer and owner of Carousel boutique, a place that was shut down for the moment due to renovations. ‘Good morning Twilight.’ Rarity said as Twilight stepped into the kitchen. ‘Good morning Rarity! Wow, that Smells delicious.’ The Lavender mare replied.
‘Oh, just some Toast. You didn’t eat last night did you?’
‘No, I must have gotten too engrossed in my studies. Again.’ She said as she let out a little laugh.
‘Oh Darling, you should try and pace yourself. IT’s no good trying to do it all and falling at the last hurdle, because you’re fatigued!’ The white mare said. ‘I guess you’re right. Say, is Spike awake yet?’ she asked.
Spike was Twilights assistant and a dragon she hatched from an egg. He also had a large crush on Rarity, which Twilight thought would be bad when she moved in but nothing has happened, not yet anyway. ‘No. I do believe he is trying to sleep off the liquor he stole last night.’ Rarity said.
‘WHAT?!?!?!?’ Exclaimed Twilight, at such a volume people started to wake up.
‘He somehow found where we hid the hard cider and decided to have a glass. Or ten.’ She said to Twilight, still in a state of shock. This wasn’t like Spike, she thought. She knew something was up, but decided to let Rarity punish him.
‘I hope you punish him severely Rarity. It’s about time he learnt a lesson.’ She said.
‘I shall. I just hope your picnic goes well this afternoon. You’ve been so excited about it for weeks now! I don’t know who the Stallion or Mare is that you’re taking out for a wonderful picnic, but they must be somepony special!’ Rarity said joyously.
‘Oh they are.’ Twilight Replied.
‘I still don’t get why you haven’t introduced us to this pony you talk so much about. You haven’t even told us their name.’
‘I can assure you there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for that and the reason i- OH would you look at the time! I simply must be going if I’m going to meet them. Bye Rarity!’ She said as she rushed out the door, like a Schoolfilly on her first day of school. ‘Something is not right here…’ Rarity said. ‘
Is she gone?’ said a voice from under the table.
‘Yes she has Spike. Now, we better tell the others that she’s gone. We will be able to find out who this illusive friend of Twilights is with their help.’
‘You bet! After that, can we, y’know have some more Cider?’ Spike said.
‘Maybe, depending on how things go my little Spikey-wikey!’ Rarity replied as she rubbed his head with her hoof.
They then dashed outside, towards Sweet Apple acres, to let Applejack know of the Situation

Twilight stood at the Ponyville train station waiting patiently for the train to Canterlot to arrive. It arrived strictly at 11:00 am, as the schedule said. She boarded the train; little did she know her friends were on the train as well, waiting to get to the bottom of Twilights mysterious lover. She would always speak of their time together in such a positive light so they thought it was someone she met on one of her many trips to see Princess Celestia. The train arrived at Canterlot not too long after and Twilight began running incredibly fast towards the Orchard. Her friends, however, thought she went somewhere else; the hedge maze. Twilight raced through her former home town, but stopped on the way to pick up flowers and a box of Chocolates, for her beloved. On her way to the Orchard, she was stopped by Princess Luna, her teacher’s younger sister. ‘Hello Twilight! What brings you to Canterlot today?’ The Alicorn asked.
‘I’m here to see a friend.’ She replied, briskly. At this rate she was going to be late, but, being the courteous mare she was, she would not leave Luna when she started a conversation.
‘Oh, that’s great! Say, what are the Flowers and chocolates for?’
‘They are for that friend. Now, if you’ll excuse me Princess, I must be going. I would not like to hold my friend up!’ She said, galloping off towards the Orchard. Luna waved to her; however she couldn’t see Lunas kind gesture. The wind felt great as she ran towards the orchard at her top speed. She arrived at the entrance to the orchard 10 minutes after her conversation with the Princess.
‘Whew. Better straighten my mane. I don’t want her seeing me with a bad looking mane. She does like my mane.’ She said to herself. She had soon arrived at the clearing in the Orchard, their usual picnic spot. She saw her companion sitting underneath the Biggest tree in the orchard.
‘Twilight! How dare you keep me waiting!’ The blue Unicorn mare said.
‘I’m very sorry Trixie. Princess Luna stopped me in my tracks, and when I saw these Flowers I instantly thought you’d love them. And I know you love Chocolate.’ She said to her beautiful Companion. The Unicorn mare was none other than “The Great and Powerful” Trixie. Trixie learnt many a lesson after her first meeting of Twilight, where she was shown up by Twilight. Months after, Trixie went back, in the dead of the night, to try and show Twilight who is the real master of Magic whilst she was sleeping. But something made Trixie inexplicably change; it was the sight of Twilight sleeping, a sight so beautiful and peaceful, that reduced her to tears. Trixie just couldn’t understand why it infatuated her right there and then, but she didn't care. She had since become a bigger person, and stopped referring to herself in the royal third pony, and also decided she was “Trixie” and not “The great and powerful Trixie”. She had become modest.
‘It’s fine! But you’ll have to make it up to me later…’ She said, with a seductive tone in her voice.
‘Oh I will!’ Twilight said, in the same mannerism. The two then began eating the food that Twilight had packed. They were enjoying their beautiful Afternoon.
But, would it last?
