Chapter 21: Chapter 21- Paying For Love

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

Two ponies walked through the corridors. Talking to each other as they searched the castle. They looked and scanned every crook and cranny of the grand castle. To find nothing.

"Where is she?" The mint unicorn asked again. The blue alicorn beside her, shrugging her shoulders.

"We have searched. She must have left Canterlot." The Princess replied.

"She wouldn't. She knew that the Griffins were coming here to discuss negotiations. So why leave?" Lyra questioned. It was unheard of that her leader would run away from battle. It was the only thing that kept her sane. So where was she?

The two ponies were brought to a stop as bright golden light appeared before them, revealing a draconnequus as the light faded.

"Ah-ha! There you are! I've been looking for you for absolutely ages!" He complained.

"Really? Why?"

Discord clicked his claws, and was suddenly wearing postpony uniform. With a hat and bag. He pulled a scroll out of the bag, handing it to the two mares.
"From Celestia."

Luna gave the spirit a suspicious look, wondering whether it was a trick or not. However, as she saw her sister's mark on the ribbon, she quickly opened it.

"Dear Luna.....blah blah...deceased leader of the creed....assigned new leader...?" She read aloud, Lyra screwed up her face and grabbed the scroll.

'Soarin Skies as the new leader of the Creed? Rainbow Miriam Dash deceased? Impossible!!"

"Apparently, Commander Feather Tail had her injected with an unknown substance. With no cure. She had five days, today was her last." Discord explained what the white alicorn had told him. Watching the shocked face of the unicorn.

"No. Nonono. She can't be dead." She yelled.

"Also, they may have hypnotised Twilight Sparkle. She also murdered Rainbow Dash."

"How?!"

"Stabbing her, I think." Discord held a claw up to his chin, the uniform and bag disappearing. His eyes wondering off to a door behind the mares. And the peculiar puddle under it.
"Erm, I might be mistaken, but, is that blood?" He pointed to the puddle. The two mares turned around and gasped, trotting over to it.

"The door is locked." Luna stated, she didn't know any lock spells. They were mainly Celestia's forte.

"I can't unlock Canterlot doors. They're resistant to unicorn pick lock spells." Lyra clarified, not noticing the golden glow around the handle, and the door creaking open.

"Pttf. Piece of cake." Discord smirked. The two ponies stared at him before opening the door. Gasping at the sight.

Lyra rushed over to the bleeding pegasus' side, her ear against the bloodied blue chest. The cyan mare lay in a puddle of her blood. Her black cloak covering her, and tinted red.
"It's still beating! She's still alive!!" The unicorn shouted. The cyan pegasus was lifted up with a light blue arua.

"Discord, here's a scroll for my sister. Give it to her instantly." Luna ordered, a blue scroll appeared out of a gret poof of smoke. The draconnequus picked up the scroll and saluted as the two mares galloped off.

"Discord Delivery Service....yay." He muttered sarcastically as he disappeared in his golden aura.

"Griffins do have their fair say in Equestria. Just because the majority of the land's inhabitants are ponies, doesn't mean that we do not care for the other creatures living here." The grand white alicorn stated. But the Griffin had none of it.

"I don't care. It's time for the Griffins to rise. And ponies will fall. Fall into chains." He growled. Growing sick of the alicorn mare.
"I have outnumbered your army by thousands. You have no chance of winning against us."

"It's not about quantity. It's more for quality." The white unicorn shouted.

"Quality? You make me laugh. All my soldiers are not only trained to highest, but hypnotised to follow orders. They do not remember their names. Or family. All they know is to fight."

"Hypnotise? That's low."

"It's the only thing I can use against you. You ponies can't hypnotise for anything!! I have Lucille with me, she's the best I know." Feather said rather smugly.
"Gilda, dear, fetch Lucille. She's only outside."

The female Griffin nodded slowly as she walked outside. The four elements of harmony finally recognising where they had seen her before.

Gilda the Griffin. Rainbow's school friend. Well, ex-friend.

The ponies watched as the young Griffin walked back in. Followed by an older female Griffin.

"Lucille can read souls and hypnotise. All she does look through your eyes." Feather smirked. "Anyone want to try-"

He was interrupted as a golden blast appeared in the room. Followed by the spirit of chaos.
"Celestia. A message from your sister-"

"You must be Discord, then." Feather pointed out. Discord was about to hand the scroll over.

"Yes, why? What is it to you?"

"Well, back in my lands, you are known for destroying Equestria. It's such a shame that you have joined these feeble creatures."

"Actually, I didn't destroy Equestria. I made it more to my liking. No one was hurt or injured. No one died. Nothing was crushed or destroyed. Get your facts right." He snorted.

"Still a shame. A creature with your power, reduced to what? Sending messages?"

"If you are trying to get into my mind, then good luck. It's a labyrinth of random and twists." He grinned.

"Well, let's test that, shall we? You came just in time, Discord. We need a volunteer for Lucille. So she can read your mind." Feather pointed to the elder Griffin.

Discord rolled his eyes.
"Fine, whatever." He sat down on the pearl white marble floor. Lucille ealked over to him, attaching a black bracelet around his wrist.
"Whatever is this? A trinket from the gift shop?"

"No, actually. Try performing magic." Feather smirked at the draconnequus, as he yelped out. Discord felt a surge of stinging pain following through is body. He winced as it did so. Slowly, his nose started bleeding. Dripping onto the clean white floor.
"A magic restricter. Try to any tricks and it will cause immense pain."

"Would have been helpful earlier." Discord muttered, holding a paw to his nose.

"Yes, whatever. Come on, Lucille." He ordered the Griffin as she walked over to the spirit. She stared into his yellow and red eyes.

"Hmm...indeed a labyrinth. Yet, I see...anger...a lot of anger...withheld from your youth." She commented. Making the draconnequus feel uncomfortable. "...what is this...?...A great dismay....A darkness within...not of evil....but sorrow."

"Very nice. Can I now-"

"A heartbreak...you suffered a lot in your youth....now, you're stuck in mental torture."

"I have no idea what you are talking about." Discord lied. But the Griffin continued.

"...hmm...I see happiness....yet, it is secluded within your dismay and anger....I can see love....continued from youth..."

"Listen, here, I came here to deliver this scroll to Celestia. That's it."

"Ah-ha. That name. The name of the sun is within your mind. Fallen for her, have you?" She asked. The draconnequus just stared, blankly.

"I've got a go. Get this thing off now." He demanded.

"You can only hide so much. Not forever. It's love after all."

"Get this damn trinket off me or so help me, I'll make your life a living hell." He shouted. Stunning the ponies. Slowly, Lucille removed the bracelet. Discord threw the scroll at the white alicorn, and disappeared instantly.

Everyone in the room, stood in silence. The pink alicorn beside her aunt, opened her eyes wide. Understanding what the Griffin had just said. She glanced at the white mare beside her, who sighed and hovered the closed scroll.

"Did you know?" Cadence asked quietly as the Griffins and the ponies bickered.

"...yes...since we were young." She croaked. "I have no time for such a thing..." Celestia muttered, ignoring her heart. She opened the scroll, and gasped as she read it.

"What is it?" Cadence inquired.

"Do not utter a word to anyone else. She's at great risk. But Rainbow is still alive. Luna found her." Celestia explained.

"Fantastic. Soarin will be happy to hear-"

"No. He mustn't know. Their lives are too much at risk."

"I understand. I just hope that he does." The two alicorns looked down at the pegasus stallion. Who just sat quietly with his head down.

"Dashie..." He croaked, holding a hoof to his chest. His heart aching. "They will pay, Dashie." He glared evilly at the Griffins and the violet mare. Anger rising within him.

"They will all pay."
