Chapter 19: Chapter 19- Loyalty To Desire

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

The sound of hooves echoed through the halls. A small flutter also echoed as the pony happily made his way to the door. The door to where his lover was slumbering. He hesitated as he lifted his hoof, it was still early morning. She might not be awake yet.

But, he continued. Knocking his hoof against the door. Hoping the mare inside would answer.

"Okay, she's not awake let's go!"

"Whoa whoa! Give her a second or two! Sweet Celestia!"

"But she's not-"

His thoughts were interrupted as the door slowly creaked open.

"Told ya."

His emerald eyes gazed down to a set of tired, rose eyes. That flicker of passion and confidence drained away as the mare looked up.

"Soarin? What is it?" She rasped, her throat dry and sore.

"Oh, are you okay? You don't sound very well."

"I'm fine. Just a cold. Now, what do you want?" She yawned, placing a hoof over her mouth. Soarin stared at the sleepy mare. Her scruffy, slightly curly, rainbow mane. Her flopped back ears. Her ruffled cyan coat, that still had it's silky glow. And her half lidded eyes, that still glimmered in the light.

"She's so adorable when she's sleepy."

"Soarin?" She waved a hoof in front of the daydreaming stallion, who quickly jumped up.

"Sorry. Urm, I have something for you."

"Soarin, I don't want any petty gifts. I'm not that type of mare. Tiaras and necklaces aren't my thing." Rainbow mumbled. Feeling incredibly tired and weak. Her wings were numb and her legs were shaking.

"Oh no. I know, Dash. You don't like jewellery. It's not a tacky trinket. It's something special." He opened his wing, and gave the cloth covered object to the pegasus mare. Who looked at him with a bored expression.
She sighed as she began unravelling the cloth.

She stared at the top of the object, confused. But as she finally revealed the item, she gasped in complete surprise.

"Where....where did you find it?" She asked, stuttering as she brushed a hoof on the clean blade. Remembering that she had thrown it at Feather Wing's castle. She threw when she thought she had killed her lover.

"I have my ways." He smiled gently. "I also took it to a special place, to get it cleaned and polished." He pointed at the darkened wood which used to be scratched and worn.

"Thank you....thank you so much. This means so much to me." She moved closer to the stallion, and placed her lips upon his cheek. He blushed as she shone him a smile.

"Your welcome." He grinned, waving as Rainbow Dash closed the door. He skipped down the corridor, unaware of the glaring alicorn further back.

"To win a heart, you strike for the heart." The angry violet mare muttered.

~~~~~~
It was now noon. With the sun hanging high in the sky. Beaming down a golden glow on the inhabitants, who were unaware of the danger coming towards them.
A carriage, hovering with two griffins attached, as it flew closer to the grand castle of Canterlot. The two griffins inside had a mixture of emotions as they approached the Castle of Canterlot. One griffin, the younger, female griffin, had her head down. Ashamed of her father and worried for her pony friend. She glanced at her father every so often, gazing at his wicked smile. And his evil glare.
"The Princesses will be putty in my claws once offer them this." He muttered, pulling out a blue vial. "They'll do anything to keep her alive."
"Why can't we just live happily with ponies, dad?" The young griffin asked.
"Because, Gilda, ponies don't deserve to rule. No alicorn. No unicorn. No pegasus. No earth pony. No pony in general. We deserve this."
"But-"
"Gilda!! You are not to side with these ponies! Do you understand? I'll have you tortured in dungeon for siding with them. Is that what you want?!" He shouted. Making his daughter whimper slightly. She shook her head.
"Good. You'll take my place once I've died, and you will continue to crush ponies." He grinned.
Gilda sighed and looked out of the window. It was such a nice day. Pity it wasn't going to last long.
~~~~~~

She walked up to the door an evil smile upon her face. Before she knocked, placed on a fake concerned expression. Laughing inside.

"Time to put our plan into action."

"No!! Stop!! Please!!"

"Pttf. What can you do? You have no control! I have taken your mind!! It is my duty!!"

"She's my friend!"

"She's dead."

"Please! I beg of you! Stop!!"

"Rainbow Dash, it's me, Twilight." The alicorn called. The door unlocked, and opened. But nopony was by the door. Twilight carefully entered the room, and closed the door.
She saw the cyan pegasus placing on her cloak by the dressing table.

"Hello, Twilight." The pegasus mumbled. Her head down as she buckled her bracers on. Unaware of the alicorn admiring her dagger on the bedside table.

"Listen, I'm sorry. About you and Soarin. It was my fault." She admitted watching the assassin's hope light up. "He's telling the truth. I came onto him."

"So, he was telling the truth....he's telling the truth. Oh my goodness." Rainbow grinned. She was so happy. She could finally trust him. She could finally love him again.

She was just about to trot out until a magical aura pushed her to the ground. She yelped out as her head hit the floor.

Twilight stood by the bed, motionless as she held the pegasus down with hardly any effort. The assassin was already physically weak. It was like stepping on a piece of paper to stop it blowing away.

"Twilight?" Rainbow squeaked, watching as her 'friend' hovered the dagger to her.

"I'm sorry, Rainbow Dash. Your services are no longer needed." She tried stabbing the mare, who quickly turned over. The blade digging into her wing. The alicorn held the pegasus down, in a stronger hold, smiling and cackling as she plunged the dagger into the mare's flesh. Rainbow inhaled deeply as she felt the metal rip her skin and flesh. Unable to fight back, due to her orders and her weak body. What the princess didn't notice, was that as she aimed for the heart, Rainbow managed to move upwards. So the dagger ended up below her heart.

Twilight released her aura from the mare, and began walking to the door. However, as she reached the door, she felt a sharp pain in her back. Followed by a trickling of a warm sticky liquid.
She glared at the smirking pegasus as she pulled out the dagger from her back.

"Sorry, Princess. I went rogue remember." Rainbow coughed, holding a hoof to her bloody wound.

Twilight growled. Her horn lit up as she closed the windows, reinforcing them.
"I don't care. I have a prize to catch. A Soarin grab." The princess grinned as Rainbow's expression fell.

"No! Leave him alone!" She cried.

"Nah. He's mine." The violet mare smirked as she slammed the door, locking it.

Rainbow ran over to the door, madly shaking it and turning the knob. She banged on the door, before she collapsed beside the door.
"No...somepony..." She croaked, feeling her eyes grow heavy and tired. Her cloak draped over her body as she bled beside the door.
"Soarin...." The pegasus whispered, crying into her hooves. She wasn't going to die suddenly. She was going to due slowly and painfully. Alone.

Alone without her special somepony. Without her Soarin.

Author's Notes:

Hi guys! Sorry for the short chapter. I've changed the plot to where there is no argument. Instead, the griffins arrive demanding whatever, the others find out that Rainbow's dying. And where the bloody hell is Luna?!

Does Rainbow live? I think most of you can guess. And sorry that she doesn't put up a big fight. Sorry.
