chapter 1 (edited)

Tens of thousands of years ago, the land of Equestria was ruled by both Princess Celestia and Luna, but there was another ruler Prince Eclipse. He being the first born was the rightful one and only ruler, but seeing things differently he changed that. He declared that the ruler of such a place could not have so much power. He decided to split the power between him and his sisters. Over the years such a system worked well and Equestria prospered.

He later learned of other worlds similar to theirs and after a long amount of thinking, he issued that the power be evenly split between his sisters for the time being and he would travel the universe studying the cultures of the other worlds and see what makes them so special. He would assume the role of a random citizen and attempt to fit in. He would then record his finding and feign his death to severe any ties with the world and slip away to the next.

Journal entry 4,736.

After many years of living on the world I have come to know as Earth, I have played the role of a simple citizen of the part of the world called America. I’ve spent most of my research studying the melting pot of New York City, as the Humans call it. Funny how they consider it to be an advanced and diverse area even though they are all of the same species. I have experienced the life of what is considered an average person, it’s fascinating really.

I made acquaintances with an illegal narcotics salesman, interacted with a variety of humans in the day to day life of theirs, and performed some less than mentionable actions, I have had the ability to experience. My death was through what is considered an accident, being I was hit by an automobile and my neck vertebrae severed. It’s strange how frail humans really are compared to what they do. Luckily being immortal I can experience all manner of such and remain perfectly fine.

What really struck me as strange is their system of Democracy, they chose who they want to follow but don’t seem to listen to what he has to say. Maybe they simply desire to do as they wish instead.

Out of the few people I meet most were unique to a standpoint. Whether it was their strange philosophy or their questionable morality, they all were different. I remember one who told me of something called “the Dream”, which consisted of a large home; a large amasses of disposable income, and multiple life partners, or at least something along those lines.

He also showed me a syringe containing a strange supplement, that when taken increases muscle content. Though he hadn’t cared, there were many adverse effects, one of which he would often panic about and become very angry when mentioned of. What I really enjoyed was the night life which he and a friend of his showed me. The buildings called Night Clubs were quite interesting. He told me of the great music, beautiful women, and all the alcohol you could want. Though I really wasn’t interested for such reasons as the Human women and the alcohol, I did become curious when I heard of the music that played.

So of course, I went along with it and did enjoy it to an extent. His friend on the other hand I was told was homosexual and only desired to be there for fun with his friends and to ingest a very strange white powder substance, he had carried with him. I refused his offer of it but I did agree to try bottle of the beverage they told me was champagne.

After enjoying the sense of euphoria I received from listening to the music’s pulse, I tried a glass and found it to be bitter with a sweet after taste, enjoying it, I helped myself to more. After a blur of time, I had managed three bottles into me and thought “how could I enjoy such a thing that should kill me?” and the answer swept me, "it feels good." Though I couldn’t notice at the time the drink had caused me to begin to act erratically.

Apparently I had somehow stumbled out of the establishment and fell into the street where I met my demise. At least that’s what they think. So now I am traveling to my next destination being what so ever is in my direction. And from what I can guess may be a world I’m quite familiar with, I feel as though it has been too long. I shall return to my place of beginning and tell of my experiences, I may leave out some for reasons beyond necessity. So to this simple go of retaining sanity from so long experience, I end with a high note. I shall be where I belong, home.

My final entry concluded, I Prince Eclipse, sign-off.

-----

In the early morning of dawn in the world of equestrian something strange happens. As the Celestia raised the morning sun and Luna set the moon, they saw something in the distance. A small object falling, making a long dark streak in the gray-pink background of the morning.

“What do you think it is, Dear sister?” Luna asked in a curious manner.

“Why, I have no idea. It’s probably only a meteor.”They watched as it flew with great speed down into the open landscape and simply shrugged it off. "someone will look into it."

-----

He impacted into the Cliff-side and managed to stay at least some distance from the edge. He hit the ground hard enough for a few nearby rocks to shudder, but be unnoticeable from any distance outside of hearing range. As his eyes opened revealing a silver gleam he looked himself over.

He was in his normal form but what he was more worried about was the state it was in. His right foreleg had been dislodged and was twisted in a way that was sickening to say the least. His right wing was bent and crumpled and lay loosely, and his neck felt as though it bent slightly from the stress of the impact. Even though it could never be fatal he still experienced excruciating pain.

“I thought I would get the hang of landing, but I guess not. But sleeping through entering the atmosphere wasn’t smart either.” He said to himself.

With his left leg he popped the bent right one back into place, and a white glow surrounded his horn and his arm as multiple splinter-like cracks came from the appendage, he stretched it. Then moving on to the wing he did the same. Finally he grasped his head in his hooves and twisted it in the opposite direction of the bend straightening it out.

He shuddered at the feeling of his neck as it cracked. He stood, letting the morning breeze flow through his short silvery mane and stretched. Dusting himself off from the mass of dirt he hit, he almost laughed at the length of the skid he left, letting out a "hmmph" of acknowledgment.

He walked over to a small puddle and looked into it examining what else was present. Noting the scratches on the right side of his face, he wiped away the blood that had begun to drip from his nose. He looked at the color his reflection showed, and was content with his original color, a dark gray that highlighted his mane and short tail. What he disliked was the little amount of muscle he retained, Just enough to seem physically normal if not a little more.

“I thought I would have gained some strength, but I never did put effort into doing so.” He thought aloud. Putting such aside he walked to the edge and looked over the castle that he had lived his youth within.

“My Celestia, things have changed.” He said as he looked over the many changes in color and architecture.

He then turned his attention to the large town in the distance. He pondered the idea of guising himself as a normal pony to see just what has changed, and possibly adjust accordingly. He then shifted his gaze back to the castle and thought of how his younger sisters may react to his return.

curiosity got the better of him.“Bollocks to it, I have not seen them in ages and they don’t know I’m back. They could stand to wait a few more hours." he exclaimed. "I wonder if anyone may know who I am. If I go in like this they may not react pleasantly.” He continued as he walked back to the puddle.

The white glow reappeared surrounding his entire body and a bright flash occurred. He looked into the puddle and saw he was now a unicorn pony with similar features, but still fairly tall. What he was certain of was that he retained his mark, an eclipsed moon. He thought of how the townsfolk may think of him when they see it, but he didn’t care. He would wear it proudly no matter what, it was who he was.

going into the farthest reaches of his searching he spoke. “I can’t believe how long ago it was, but I still remember the day clearly” he said as he thought deeply. An image appeared in his mind of the day he earned it.

Both Celestia and Luna were still very young, and he wasn’t far off. Even though they were young they performed their duties. As Celestia lowered the sun and Luna raised the moon, Celestia had made a mistake. She placed the sun in a way that no light was able to reflect off, shadowing the moon of all but the edge which gleamed brilliantly. He stared off into it astounded by its strange beauty, the mark became his.

Returning to the present, he began to travel along the narrow way to the town in the distance wondering what he may experience in such a different Equestria.
