Tens of thousands of years ago, the land of Equestria was ruled by both Princess Celestia and Luna, but there was another ruler Prince Eclipse. He being the first born was the rightful one and only ruler, but seeing things differently he changed that. He declared that the ruler of such a place could not have so much power. He decided to split the power between him and his sisters. Over the years such a system worked well and Equestria prospered.

He later learned of other worlds similar to theirs and after a long amount of thinking, he issued that the power be evenly split between his sisters for the time being and he would travel the universe studying the cultures of the other worlds and see what makes them so special. He would assume the role of a random citizen and attempt to fit in. He would then record his finding and feign his death to severe any ties with the world and slip away to the next.

    Journal entry 4,736.

After many years of living on the world I have come to know as Earth, I have played the role of a simple citizen of the part of the world called America. I’ve spent most of my research studying the melting pot of New York City, as the Humans call it. Funny how they consider it to be an advanced and diverse area even though they are all of the same species. I have experienced the life of what is considered an average person, it’s fascinating really.

I made acquaintances with an illegal narcotics salesman, interacted with a variety of humans in the day to day life of theirs, and performed some less than mentionable actions, I have had the ability to experience. My death was through what is considered an accident, being I was hit by an automobile and my neck vertebrae severed. It’s strange how frail humans really are compared to what they do. Luckily being immortal I can experience all manner of such and remain perfectly fine.

What really struck me as strange is their system of Democracy, they chose who they want to follow but don’t seem to listen to what he has to say. Maybe they simply desire to do as they wish instead.

Out of the few people I meet most were unique to a standpoint. Whether it was their strange philosophy or their questionable morality, they all were different. I remember one who told me of something called “the Dream”, which consisted of a large home; a large amasses of disposable income, and multiple life partners, or at least something along those lines.

He also showed me a syringe containing a strange supplement, that when taken increases muscle content. Though he hadn’t cared, there were many adverse effects, one of which he would often panic about and become very angry when mentioned of. What I really enjoyed was the night life which he and a friend of his showed me. The buildings called Night Clubs were quite interesting. He told me of the great music, beautiful women, and all the alcohol you could want. Though I really wasn’t interested for such reasons as the Human women and the alcohol, I did become curious when I heard of the music that played.

So of course, I went along with it and did enjoy it to an extent. His friend on the other hand I was told was homosexual and only desired to be there for fun with his friends and to ingest a very strange white powder substance, he had carried with him. I refused his offer of it but I did agree to try bottle of the beverage they told me was champagne.

After enjoying the sense of euphoria I received from listening to the music’s pulse, I tried a glass and found it to be bitter with a sweet after taste, enjoying it, I helped myself to more. After a blur of time, I had managed three bottles into me and thought “how could I enjoy such a thing that should kill me?” and the answer swept me, "it feels good." Though I couldn’t notice at the time the drink had caused me to begin to act erratically.

Apparently I had somehow stumbled out of the establishment and fell into the street where I met my demise. At least that’s what they think. So now I am traveling to my next destination being what so ever is in my direction. And from what I can guess may be a world I’m quite familiar with, I feel as though it has been too long. I shall return to my place of beginning and tell of my experiences, I may leave out some for reasons beyond necessity. So to this simple go of retaining sanity from so long experience, I end with a high note. I shall be where I belong, home.

My final entry concluded, I Prince Eclipse, sign-off.

    -----

In the early morning of dawn in the world of equestrian something strange happens. As the Celestia raised the morning sun and Luna set the moon, they saw something in the distance. A small object falling, making a long dark streak in the gray-pink background of the morning.

“What do you think it is, Dear sister?” Luna asked in a curious manner.

“Why, I have no idea. It’s probably only a meteor.”They watched as it flew with great speed down into the open landscape and simply shrugged it off. "someone will look into it."

    -----

He impacted into the Cliff-side and managed to stay at least some distance from the edge. He hit the ground hard enough for a few nearby rocks to shudder, but be unnoticeable from any distance outside of hearing range. As his eyes opened revealing a silver gleam he looked himself over.

He was in his normal form but what he was more worried about was the state it was in. His right foreleg had been dislodged and was twisted in a way that was sickening to say the least. His right wing was bent and crumpled and lay loosely, and his neck felt as though it bent slightly from the stress of the impact. Even though it could never be fatal he still experienced excruciating pain.

“I thought I would get the hang of landing, but I guess not. But sleeping through entering the atmosphere wasn’t smart either.” He said to himself.

With his left leg he popped the bent right one back into place, and a white glow surrounded his horn and his arm as multiple splinter-like cracks came from the appendage, he stretched it. Then moving on to the wing he did the same. Finally he grasped his head in his hooves and twisted it in the opposite direction of the bend straightening it out.

He shuddered at the feeling of his neck as it cracked. He stood, letting the morning breeze flow through his short silvery mane and stretched. Dusting himself off from the mass of dirt he hit, he almost laughed at the length of the skid he left, letting out a "hmmph" of acknowledgment.

He walked over to a small puddle and looked into it examining what else was present. Noting the scratches on the right side of his face, he wiped away the blood that had begun to drip from his nose. He looked at the color his reflection showed, and was content with his original color, a dark gray that highlighted his mane and short tail. What he disliked was the little amount of muscle he retained, Just enough to seem physically normal if not a little more.

“I thought I would have gained some strength, but I never did put effort into doing so.” He thought aloud. Putting such aside he walked to the edge and looked over the castle that he had lived his youth within.

“My Celestia, things have changed.” He said as he looked over the many changes in color and architecture.

He then turned his attention to the large town in the distance. He pondered the idea of guising himself as a normal pony to see just what has changed, and possibly adjust accordingly. He then shifted his gaze back to the castle and thought of how his younger sisters may react to his return.

curiosity got the better of him.“Bollocks to it, I have not seen them in ages and they don’t know I’m back. They could stand to wait a few more hours." he exclaimed. "I wonder if anyone may know who I am. If I go in like this they may not react pleasantly.” He continued as he walked back to the puddle.

The white glow reappeared surrounding his entire body and a bright flash occurred. He looked into the puddle and saw he was now a unicorn pony with similar features, but still fairly tall. What he was certain of was that he retained his mark, an eclipsed moon. He thought of how the townsfolk may think of him when they see it, but he didn’t care. He would wear it proudly no matter what, it was who he was.

going into the farthest reaches of his searching he spoke. “I can’t believe how long ago it was, but I still remember the day clearly” he said as he thought deeply. An image appeared in his mind of the day he earned it.

Both Celestia and Luna were still very young, and he wasn’t far off. Even though they were young they performed their duties. As Celestia lowered the sun and Luna raised the moon, Celestia had made a mistake. She placed the sun in a way that no light was able to reflect off, shadowing the moon of all but the edge which gleamed brilliantly. He stared off into it astounded by its strange beauty, the mark became his.

Returning to the present, he began to travel along the narrow way to the town in the distance wondering what he may experience in such a different Equestria.

    {give your thoughts in the comments and be honest, i don't mind dislikes but i want to know whats wrong to make change. thank you for reading.}

    chapter 2 (edited)

As he walked along the path to the unknown town in the distance he thought deeply. He remembered of the last time he ever saw or spoke to his sisters. He remembered he had ordered his captain of guard to bring them to the balcony of his chamber. he sat there quietly looking at the vast open area in the distance. He heard there hoof steps and turned to them.

"Sisters, I... I have something important for you to know," He managed, a sad look on his face." I'm leaving," He stated. they only looked at him with fear in their eye's. He gestured for them to step forward. "I'm leaving to learn about our universe and I can't say how long it may be but, I promise you both that i will return."

They stepped up to him and hugged him tightly, he spoke once more. "You both must be strong. You two shall rule in my place, and watch over Equestria. Remember your duties and take care of each other. Do you understand?" He only felt their nods, he released them and stepped back.

He then shifted his gaze toward the guard."make sure they stay safe." He ordered as he began to flap his wings. He pushed himself from the ground and flew off. the last thing he saw was a tear form in young Luna's eye, he ascended into the clouds and did his best to ignore it.

    -----

He arrived in the part of the town that seemed to be the market and looked on at the many ponies going on about their business. He let out a breath he'd been holding for what seemed like hours. "well, here we go." he thought as walked into the town, through the market. As he walked he realized just how many ponies noticed him, he heard pieces of conversations begin.

    "Who's that pony?""

    "That is one tall stallion."

    "That's a weird color for a pony."

"What the hay kind of a mark is that?"

"Shh, I think he can hear us."

    "What's he looking at?"

"Think he might be from Canterlot?"

    "Creep."

He kept walking, increasing his pace toward what seemed to be the park and sat on a bench. He looked toward the sky and watched the clouds move along and saw a cyan colored Pegasus fly by and do a few tricks. He then shifted his gaze toward the ponies of the park. Ponies playing, walking, laughing. He continued to overhear comments about his presence but ignored them.

"I never could of imagined feeling so alien on my own kingdom." He thought to himself. "I wonder if it would be any different if they knew who I was?" He got up and kept walking. As he reached somewhere near the center of the park he saw a statue of a familiar figure.

He stepped forward and looked it over. Tall, with a mane that reached it's hooves. A feminine figure with wings unfurled and a long horn pointing toward the sky. A face that seemed familiar. "Celestia?" He thought aloud. Looking around hoping no one heard him he continued looking at the statue, lost in thought. "She looks so different, she's grown up well it seems. I wonder how much Luna has changed as well."

He shook his head and walked back toward the market. To his surprise, a vibrant pink mare hurried to his side with a large grin.

"Oh goody a new pony in Ponyville!" She said aloud.

"Ponyville, that must be what this town is called." He thought deep in his mind.

"Oh, I just love to meet new ponies! I'm Pinkie Pie, but all my friends call me Pinkie. Whats your name?" She asked.

"Oh Buck!" He thought. "I hadn't planned that yet." He quickly shot out the first thing he could think of."Equinox, I'm Equinox." He lied. "Nice to meet you."

"I know your new, because I know everyone in Ponyville but i don't know you. oh it's so nice to meet you!" She continued on .

"Well how do know if I'm not just somepony you've never seen before? I could be living just outside town. what makes you think i'm new?" he asked quizzically.

"Oh, i know everyone in ponyville, even ponies just outside of the town too. Every ity bity one."

"That seems a little hard to believe," he drifted of thinking. "but i guess so." he exhaled, wondering where this was going.

"Well, since i know your new, I'm gonna give you a big Ponyville welcome." She said gleefully.

    "Just how's that?" he asked.

"You'll see!" she said as she bounced into a shop.

He thought curiously for a moment."What's that supposed to mean?" he asked himself. shaking his head he continued walking as the day of his return continued.

    chapter 3 (edited)

As he walked on, the thoughts of what could be waiting for him crossed his mind dozens of times. He kept wondering just what the mare would do.

"A meet and greet maybe, show me around and introduce me to ponies, maybe even a little party. Who knows?" He kept on, curiosity arising.

"I should probably just forget about it. No one would really want to meet me, it was probably just a joke." He let slip from his mind.He kept walking, not caring if anyone heard him.

He walked on, lost in thought. "I guess I do seem strange, but that is still very rude for them to say. thoughts are thoughts, and their private. saying something like that out loud, that's just horrible." He soon arrived on the other side of town, along a dense forest.

He spotted a small cottage with what looked like farm stalls for animals all around it. He stepped toward it looking around. He saw the wide array of animals, birds, pigs, small mammals. He stepped over to a small pond and looked into the water. Listening, he heard frogs croaking and saw a fish swim about. He looked past that and saw his reflection.

He looked over his face, dark muzzle, silvery eyes, short silver-gray mane. He sighed and stepped back looking toward the sky again unblinkingly. He looked on at the birds flying by. Just then something caught his attention, a yellow mare with a long pink mane. She hovered over the ground with her wings and was followed by a small group of rabbits.

She caught his gaze and slunk away toward the house. he looked back toward the water and gave himself a scolding look.

"Be polite, don't make ponies think your some creep."He told himself. He sat down and closed his eye's trying to clear his mind. He felt something soft and warm brush against his hoof. He slowly opened his eyes to see a small white rabbit. The corners of his mouth began to make a smile.

Behind him he could hear soft hoofsteps on the grass and whispering, "Come here Angel bunny, He seems dangerous."

He took a deep breath and turned to see the yellow mare, " Hello," he spoke.

    She spoke softly,"Hello,"

"I'm Equinox, it's nice to meet you." He spoke on.

"Um, I'm Fluttershy, you too."She said shyly, looking away.

"Might be laying it on a little too thick." He thought."I'll have to be careful with this one."

"These are some rather nice animals you have. I like the rabbit, he's... cute." He said trying to seem nice.

the rabbit gave him an angered look and turned away."Thank you, i know. He's my pet."

"Here we go."He thought. "So do you take care of all these animals, or is there someone else here who helps?" He asked.

"Oh no, I take care them all on my own. It's my job to do so." She said.

"Well then, may I see your other animals?" He asked.

"Certainly," She said smiling, walking toward her house.

"Alright, this isn't so tough." He thought, following behind.

"Well these are the bird's" she went on as they flew around her, some landing on Eclipse chirping.

    "Lovely," He said

She walked over to a small den,"And these are the bunnies." she continued, as they surrounded her. Some hopping over to Eclipse and brushing past him, he smiled. Then she walked over to a fenced off wood box. "These are the chickens" she said. "And these are the pigs."

Thinking of all the time he had spent with her he realized how long it had really been. "Alright," He said. "I think I've taken up enough of your time.I should probably go."

"Oh, but I still have one more furry friend for you to meet." She said urgently, she then whistled and a white dog with a long black spot over its right eye came running toward them.

"Who's this?" He asked with a grin.

"This is Leven." she answered. "I call her that because I found her at eleven at night about a week ago. She looked so pretty in the dark."

"Leven, I like it." He said, receiving a dog smile from the her.

I've been trying to find her a good home, but I haven't found anyone who could take care of her. All my friends have pets already, so I didn't tell them about her. She went on.

Thinking it over, "I'll take her for you." He said.

"Really?!, you'll do it, thank you, thank you, thank you!" She said."Oh promise you'll take good care of her, will you"

    "I promise."

    "Swear?"

    "On my mark."

"Oh goody, alright girl, you have a home now." She said to Leven getting a happy bark in reply.

"Come on girl!" Se called as he began to walk away.

"Come back when you want to meet some of the other animals." Fluttershy said.

"Will do!" He replied, walking back into town with a new friend at his side.

    chapter 4 (edited)

"Maybe that pink mare was being serious". He said feeling much better. "Maybe she is gonna surprise me with something nice." He looked at his new canine companion with a content smile as he walked back toward the park. "You wanna go play girl, huh?"

    "bark, bark."

"Alright let's go." He exclaimed heightening his pace toward the park, with Leven happily following suite.

they passed through more urban areas of the town and past an ally hearing a loud cry.

"HELP ME! SOMEBODY! UNHAND ME YOU HEAVEN!"

"Oh boy, that doesn't sound good." He said worriedly. "C'mon girl playtime will have to wait."

He hurried down the ally to see a white unicorn with styled dark purple mane backed against a nearby wall, as a burly earth pony brandished a knife in his mouth, the edges of his muzzle forming a sick smile.

"C'mon little filly, cry for help, no one's gonna save you." He cackled. "When I'm done with you, that pretty little face a yers wont be so pretty."

Eclipse hurried near, noble like seriousness swept his attitude and he angrily spoke. "That is enough, you aren't going to do a thing to her!" Leven stood near him growling, the hair along her back stood out as she bared her teeth.

"What makes you think that, you scrawny little piece a."

"Shut up now," Eclipse interrupted. "I've dealt with enough monsters to deal with the likes of you."

The the dark brown earth pony stepped toward him, a look of fierce anger in his eyes. "I'm gonna have fun guttin you." He galloped at Eclipse in a berserk rush. Eclipse narrowly jump out the way, though receiving a small cut on his side.

"Come here, i want make you scream for death!" The earth pony snarled. Leven lunged at him clamping onto his back leg with strong jaws.

"AAHH!, get off me you little mutt!" he roared, kicking Leven off of him.

She hit the ground and yelped, but got back up and growled circling around him, keeping his attention.

"Oi! suzy, forget me?" Eclipse intervened swinging his right foreleg making contact with the earth pony's jaw, knocking the knife out of his grasp.

"Tough little bugger aren't you? let's see how tough you really are!" He snarled swinging wildly with rage.

Eclipse, just moving out of the way, looked around to see if he could use anything. he spotted something, the knife. A faint glow surrounded his horn and and the knife, but he couldn't completely focus, trying to avoid the many swings.

Trying quickly to focus on the knife, the glow became brighter, and the knife jumped toward him but dropped as he was tackled to ground by the larger pony. The pony pressed his stronger legs onto Eclipses chest and picked the knife up in his teeth and attempted to bring it down on Eclipse.

Finding it harder to breath Eclipse strained to keep the earth pony head held back. He struggled, his hooves holding back the larger stallion. His fore legs locked in a bent position, ain and exertion on his face.

He let his right leg fall back and the earth pony pressed harder bringing the sharp blade closer to Eclipse's face, the leg wound back and he swung, hitting the pony in his jaw, knocking the knife out of his grip onto the ground. Winded, the pony was easily pushed off and Eclipse delivered another blow, knocking the earth pony down.

Leven then pounced onto him, snapping at his neck. The pony pushed her off, but was caught off guard by Eclipse rushing to him trying to pin him. Eclipse wound back again and made contact, blow after blow, watching blood pour from the pony's nose as he felt the same on his muzzle.

He pushed him off and began scrambling for the knife, but was knocked back down. Desperate to end it, Eclipse wound his head back and brought it forth, connection made with a sickening crack as he felt the blow follow down his neck and back.

He stood up, dizzied by the headbutt, and staggered for a moment breathing heavily. He looked around to see the white unicorn mare stood back not too far, fear in her eye's. He looked back down at the now unconscious earth pony, his forehead bloodied. Eclipse felt blood run down his cheek, and wiped it with his left hoof, smearing the blood along his dark coat.

"Are you okay?" He called out to the white mare.

"Yes, thank you so much. you came just at the right time, and saved me." She replied stepping forward. "I don't even know who you are and i am indebted to you."

"Don't...worry about it." he breathed. "Call a guard to get him." He winced as he felt the scrapped mark left after the fierce blow to his head.

"Are you okay? we should get you a doctor, your hurt." She said worriedly.

"No, I'll be fine. Why was he even attacking you?" He asked.

"I don't know, but he surely would of done grizzly things if you hadn't come to my aid. Thank you. What pray tell is your name sir?" She asked.

"Equinox," He said keeping to his lie.

"Thank you, my name is Rarity." she said. "I own the boutique not far from here, i was taking a short cut and he showed up."

He sat down, resting. "Well you'll be fine now. Go get a guard." He finished.

"Right, I'll find someway to repay you i swear." She said hurrying away.

When she was out of sight Eclipse called for Leven who ran to his side and sat panting next to him, he patted her head with with his left hoof gently and stood back up. "Come on girl, a questioning by the guards won't be favorable." He said starting to walk away. "Not how i expected my day to turn out, but it's something memorable at least." He smiled looking back at his companion. "let's go play."
