Meeting Vibes

"Why did everypony seem to ignore me at that party..." Vinyl thought to herself. It seemed to Vinyl that instead of everypony dancing, they were just talking. She would keep playing though. It looked they were having fun, just not because of her. "Maybe I need to step it up..." she thought.

She was up late at night at the party and could think about going to bed. She jumped right in bed and fell to sleep.

The next morning she woke up with a headache, "Maybe I should go easy on the alcohol" she thought. She got up and realized she didn't have any plans. She had a whole day to herself. Maybe she'd visit one of her friends, or go out to eat, or just relax the whole day away. Another thought wandered into her head but she immediately dismissed it. It was a stupid idea. What kind of cute stallion like him would want her?

She walked around Ponyville looking for something to do. She wasn't really paying attention to where she was going. Right after she walked by the library, she walked right into somepony. She was dazed for a second when they hit heads, but after her vision cleared, she wished it didn't. Because right there, sitting on the ground and holding his head, was Vibes. He was obviously also dazed by the impact. She instantly flushed a deep red, embarrassed.

She didn't want to talk to him, she was too nervous! She kept thinking of what to do when she noticed something off about him... His sunglasses! He didn't have them on! They must have flown off when they hit each other.

"Well that's a start, find his sunglasses!" thought Vinyl. She looked around her until she spotted a gleaming object. At this point, Vibes had regained his vision and saw Vinyl picking up his sunglasses.

"How nice!" thought Vibes as she made his way back over to him.

"Sorry about your sunglasses..." said Vinyl a little nervously. The sunglasses had a crack on the right lens, but other than that, they were okay.

"Don't worry about it, it was an accident." said Vibes, taking the sunglasses from her. He noticed a bit of red on her face. "What's your name?" said Vibes, which startled Vinyl a little.

"V-Vinyl Scratch." said Vinyl. She didn't mean to stutter and worried that he might figure out she liked him. But Vibes didn't seem to notice.

"Cool, my name's Vibes." he said, holding out a hoof.

Vinyl reached out a little nervously and shook hooves. She hadn't expected a full conversation.

"Nice to meet you." said Vibes. "I was just headed to the Palace for the upcoming Grand Galloping Gala until we bumped into each other here."

"Well, I'm sorry for bumping into you, I um... wasn't looking where I was going." said Vinyl. A little bit redder.

Vibes chuckled, "Nor was I. Say, do you like music too?" He asked noticing her cutie mark.

Vinyl answered, "Um... Yes, what do you play?"

"Percussion." he said, a little proud.

"Per-wha?" she answered, then realized she may have sounded stupid. A little bit more red.

But Vibes just chuckled, "Percussion, you know, drums?"

Vinyl suddenly realized what it was, "Oh, I don't play that kind of music."

Vibes looked at her, "Then what do you play?" he sounded confused.

"I'm a DJ." she said, blushing harder. Oh no, he's going to notice!

But he payed no attention to her blushing as he said, "Hmmm... I haven't heard of that before. I'd like to see you perform sometime."

She blushed furiously. How can he not tell I like him?! She thought. "Well, um... okay, I guess so."

He chuckled, "Great, well, I'll see you around." He began walking away. "By the way, you have a little red on your face."

She blushed even harder.

She slowly stopped blushing, but couldn't take her mind off of Vibes. He saw her blushing, and probably knew she liked him, but she wondered if he liked her back. He, by far, had a better poker face than any pony she knew. He didn't show any expression, but kept smiling at the same time. Her mind kept racing about how she should meet Vibes again until she noticed she was still standing in the same place she had talked to Vibes. For 10 minutes. She started walking. She then started thinking about what she was going to do the rest of the day.

Vinyl was still walking around town when Pinkie Pie came bouncing in out of nowhere.

"Well hi Vinyl! How are you? Oh wait, I already know the answer to that one. You're happy! You know how I can tell? Because you have a smile on your face! So anyway, where are you going? Oh! oh! you're going to Sugar Cube Corner! No, you're heading to Sweet Apple Farms? No that's not right, maybe you're heading to..."

Vinyl couldn't keep listening beyond that. It was giving her another headache just trying to listen to her fast, never ending talking. She let Pinkie Pie keep talking, but didn't really listen. Vinyl just wanted to figure out a way to let Vibes know she liked him without it being too awkward for the both of them. While she was thinking, Pinkie kept talking.

"Well she seemed nice, not a big surprise though," thought Vibes on his way over to the Palace. So far, he's only met one other pony that was interested in the music he likes. Her name was Octavia. She didn't play the same instrument; she played the cello, but still had the same interests. She seemed like any other pony in Ponyville, nice. They would be playing together during the Grand Galloping Gala along with a few other musical ponies. He'd have a chance to meet them tonight.

Once he got to the Palace and got to the stage where they would perform, Octavia walked up to him.

"Hey, you're here early," she said, a smirk across her face.

"I usually always am early to events like these, and I'd also say the same to you," he said a mirroring smirk on his face.

She giggled, "I guess I'm the same. Hey, you want to warm up real quick?"

"Sure, why not?" he said, walking towards his section.
