Meeting Vibes

"Why did everypony seem to ignore me at that party..." Vinyl thought to herself. It seemed to Vinyl that instead of everypony dancing, they were just talking. She would keep playing though. It looked they were having fun, just not because of her. "Maybe I need to step it up..." she thought.

She was up late at night at the party and could think about going to bed. She jumped right in bed and fell to sleep.

The next morning she woke up with a headache, "Maybe I should go easy on the alcohol" she thought. She got up and realized she didn't have any plans. She had a whole day to herself. Maybe she'd visit one of her friends, or go out to eat, or just relax the whole day away. Another thought wandered into her head but she immediately dismissed it. It was a stupid idea. What kind of cute stallion like him would want her?

She walked around Ponyville looking for something to do. She wasn't really paying attention to where she was going. Right after she walked by the library, she walked right into somepony. She was dazed for a second when they hit heads, but after her vision cleared, she wished it didn't. Because right there, sitting on the ground and holding his head, was Vibes. He was obviously also dazed by the impact. She instantly flushed a deep red, embarrassed.

She didn't want to talk to him, she was too nervous! She kept thinking of what to do when she noticed something off about him... His sunglasses! He didn't have them on! They must have flown off when they hit each other.

"Well that's a start, find his sunglasses!" thought Vinyl. She looked around her until she spotted a gleaming object. At this point, Vibes had regained his vision and saw Vinyl picking up his sunglasses.

"How nice!" thought Vibes as she made his way back over to him.

"Sorry about your sunglasses..." said Vinyl a little nervously. The sunglasses had a crack on the right lens, but other than that, they were okay.

"Don't worry about it, it was an accident." said Vibes, taking the sunglasses from her. He noticed a bit of red on her face. "What's your name?" said Vibes, which startled Vinyl a little.

"V-Vinyl Scratch." said Vinyl. She didn't mean to stutter and worried that he might figure out she liked him. But Vibes didn't seem to notice.

"Cool, my name's Vibes." he said, holding out a hoof.

Vinyl reached out a little nervously and shook hooves. She hadn't expected a full conversation.

"Nice to meet you." said Vibes. "I was just headed to the Palace for the upcoming Grand Galloping Gala until we bumped into each other here."

"Well, I'm sorry for bumping into you, I um... wasn't looking where I was going." said Vinyl. A little bit redder.

Vibes chuckled, "Nor was I. Say, do you like music too?" He asked noticing her cutie mark.

Vinyl answered, "Um... Yes, what do you play?"

"Percussion." he said, a little proud.

"Per-wha?" she answered, then realized she may have sounded stupid. A little bit more red.

But Vibes just chuckled, "Percussion, you know, drums?"

Vinyl suddenly realized what it was, "Oh, I don't play that kind of music."

Vibes looked at her, "Then what do you play?" he sounded confused.

"I'm a DJ." she said, blushing harder. Oh no, he's going to notice!

But he payed no attention to her blushing as he said, "Hmmm... I haven't heard of that before. I'd like to see you perform sometime."

She blushed furiously. How can he not tell I like him?! She thought. "Well, um... okay, I guess so."

He chuckled, "Great, well, I'll see you around." He began walking away. "By the way, you have a little red on your face."

She blushed even harder.

She slowly stopped blushing, but couldn't take her mind off of Vibes. He saw her blushing, and probably knew she liked him, but she wondered if he liked her back. He, by far, had a better poker face than any pony she knew. He didn't show any expression, but kept smiling at the same time. Her mind kept racing about how she should meet Vibes again until she noticed she was still standing in the same place she had talked to Vibes. For 10 minutes. She started walking. She then started thinking about what she was going to do the rest of the day.

Vinyl was still walking around town when Pinkie Pie came bouncing in out of nowhere.

"Well hi Vinyl! How are you? Oh wait, I already know the answer to that one. You're happy! You know how I can tell? Because you have a smile on your face! So anyway, where are you going? Oh! oh! you're going to Sugar Cube Corner! No, you're heading to Sweet Apple Farms? No that's not right, maybe you're heading to..."

Vinyl couldn't keep listening beyond that. It was giving her another headache just trying to listen to her fast, never ending talking. She let Pinkie Pie keep talking, but didn't really listen. Vinyl just wanted to figure out a way to let Vibes know she liked him without it being too awkward for the both of them. While she was thinking, Pinkie kept talking.

"Well she seemed nice, not a big surprise though," thought Vibes on his way over to the Palace. So far, he's only met one other pony that was interested in the music he likes. Her name was Octavia. She didn't play the same instrument; she played the cello, but still had the same interests. She seemed like any other pony in Ponyville, nice. They would be playing together during the Grand Galloping Gala along with a few other musical ponies. He'd have a chance to meet them tonight.

Once he got to the Palace and got to the stage where they would perform, Octavia walked up to him.

"Hey, you're here early," she said, a smirk across her face.

"I usually always am early to events like these, and I'd also say the same to you," he said a mirroring smirk on his face.

She giggled, "I guess I'm the same. Hey, you want to warm up real quick?"

"Sure, why not?" he said, walking towards his section.

Practice makes Perfect

You guys wanted it, so you guys got it. This is the second chapter, enjoy.

This is more of a short imformational chapter.

"Hey, you're pretty good!" said Octavia after she heard Vibes play a piece.

"Thanks, but I think I want to hear you play." said Vibes.

"Sure, just a second." she said as she went over to her cello.

She started to play a slow and sad piece to which he did not know the name of. It brought back memories.

When she finished, she smirked, "What do you think?"

"That was beautiful. But why did you pick such a slow song?" he asked.

She shrugged, "I don't know, just seemed like a fun piece to play."

Vibes just chuckled and said, "Well, it was a great selection and all but don't you think it's a little bit too sad?"

Octavia thought for a second and said, "I just like it, okay?"

"Alright, alright, just saying" said Vibes.

Octavia sighed, if only he knew.

Soon, the rest of the ponies arrived, ready to play. It was a normal practice session. They played, they talked, they left. Octavia stayed though.

"You are one good musician if I say so myself." she said.

"Thanks. Well I guess I'll see you at The Gala in a couple days." said Vibes, finally packed up. He started making his way to the door.

"Hey now, not so fast." she said.

"Yeah?" he said. Turning back to her.

"Well, I've got to say two things before you leave..." she said, trailing off at the last word.

"Well, okay. I'm right here." he said.

She sighed, "Okay here goes, nopony knows about this but, I kind of wanted to tell you this." She took a deep breath and continued, "The reason I play that is because I never really had parents, it helps me cope with that fact each day."

Vibes nodded, "I know that feeling."

Octavia's eyes widened, "You mean you never had parents either?!" she half shouted.

"Yep." is all Vibes said.

Octavia was shocked. She thought she was the only pony without parents. To know that Vibes is very similar to her made her feel better, but not entirely of course.

"I've never met another pony who was so much like me..." she said, trailing off again. She started tearing up.

"Don't cry now, I can't stand somepony crying like that." said Vibes.

"There's... there's that other thing I wanted to tell you too." she said, she ignored what Vibes just said.

"Yes, and what is that?" he asked.

"Vibes?"

"Yes?"

"... I like you..."

Vinyl was deep in thought. How was she going to get a ticket? After Vibes left for his practice session, she decided that no matter what, she was going to get a ticket. But how? Not many ponies get to go to the Grand Galloping Gala, which made her chances to go very slim, it's not like she'll find one lying in the streets.

Vinyl then realized she had another problem to deal with. She had to figure out why nopony liked her music anymore. How could she have forgotten? She pondered inside her head thinking of a reason why they wouldn't like it.

Nope, can't find a reason, she thought. It's been the same as always... Wait! Maybe it's because it hasn't changed! She finally figured it out. She couldn't wait to get to work on her new music.

"That might be a problem, Octavia."

She looked worried, "What do you mean?"

"Well, just today I met a pony named Vinyl Scratch, have you heard of her?" Vibes said.

Octavia's eyes widened, "Umm... Y-ya, why?" she responded, expecting the worst to come.

"Well, she kind of likes me too as far I can tell."

She thought he would say that, "Oh... well um... I'll s-see you later then..." She walked around him and went to the door.

Author's Notes: Oh shit, looks like there's gonna be some competition! I'm so evil.

Oh, and go back up to when Octavia plays her piece. There's a url there now.

Accent and Piano

Oh boy! Chapter 3! I made this for D3adfal1's post on Conversion Week. Enjoy!

I was walking home, one thing on my mind, 'What am I going to do?' Deep in thought about this question, I finally began thinking of other things. Now, where am I? I looked around and noticed the library was to my right. I guess I could go with reading a book. It could keep me occupied for a while. I changed my course and began to walk to the library. Wait, what time is it? I asked myself, looking at the big clock in town. 5 o'clock. Okay, it's not closed yet.

I walked into the library and saw that Twilight was the only pony there. As always she reading a book. She didn't seem to notice me, so I walked up to her and said, "Hey, Twilight."

She lifted her head from the book and said, "Hey Vibes, what can I do for you?"

"I just need a book on music," I said, a smile on my face.

Twilight smiled as well, "Sure, just a second." She then went upstairs.

It got quiet as there was nothing else in the room that was making noise but my breathing, {Atleast I have you guys, right?}

[<da DADADA DA DA DUH DA DA! CRASH! da->]

{Accent? Piano?}

[<Huh?>]

{Save the duets for later, ok?}

[Fine.] <Sure thing.>

{Anyways, what do you guys think of my problem here with Vinyl and Octavia?}

[Take them both?]

<Gross.>

{Agreed.}

[Don't knock it until you try it.] Accent then started to make pelvic thrusts in the air on his hind legs.

<Double gross... Wait, you mean that you->

Twilight came back and said with a smile, "Here you go Vibes."

I smiled too, "Thanks Twilight, can't wait to read it."

She beamed with pride, "Well, you enjoy it then, bye!"

"Bye!" I said, and with that, I walked out the door.

*Whew!* I can't wait to get home. That's enough random events for one day.

<You said it.>

{I did didn't I?}

I eventually made my way home. Took a little bit longer than usual, but at least I made it. I got ready and went to bed. I hope another day like that doesn't happen for a while.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Well, I knew this was going to be an annoying day. I woke up to this:

[Come ON Vibes, GET UP!]

<Jeez, you are a very heavy sleeper.>

Accent jumped up and hit my face, {Ow! What?! What do you want?!}

[There's somepony at the door.]

{[<...>]}

{I really hate you.}

[You mad?]

{Very,} I got up, put my shades on, and went to the door. I opened it and noticed nopony was there. I would've walked away if Piano hadn't said:

<Wait! What's that?>

I looked down to see a letter... with a heart? Damn, she must really want me. I picked it up and opened it. A simple piece of parchment lay inside. I unfolded it and read:

Dear Vibes,

Would you like to meet me at that new cafe that just opened by Sugar Cube Corner? I heard it's a really good place to eat! It's called 'Marebucks'. And how about 8 o'clock? Sound good? Hope to see in a bit!

Sincerely,

Vinyl Scratch

The letter was pretty short, but at least it told me where to go.

<What would be the point of a letter then?>

{True.}

I looked out the window to see the time on the big tower, 7:30. Good, just enough time to get ready and go.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

Why did I just do that? Vinyl asked herself, still unsure of herself. I hope I can pull this off, because if I don't... No! I will pull this off! She assured herself, feeling confident. She walked home, getting ready to meet Vibes. Again.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

25 minutes later...

Okay, I'm ready to go. I checked over myself and made sure. Just to double check. I walked out the door, heading towards Sugar Cube Corner, the place where 'Marebucks' was supposed to be next to. Soon I got there, but not before realizing Vinyl was by the door. She didn't seem to notice me. I walked up to her.

"Hey Vinyl," I said, a smile on my face.

She whipped her head around so fast, I swore I heard it crack. She blushed a bit immediately, "Oh hey Vibes, didn't see you there. Glad you could make it."

Hmm... seems she's gotten more comfortable around me, "No problem, I wasn't doing anything today anyway."

"Oh, well, how about we get a table?"

"Sounds like a plan."

We walked over to a table and sat down. Let the conversing commence.

"So, what's new Vinyl?" I said, smirking.

She began to smirk too, but nervously. "Nothing much. How about you?"

"Just somethings at practice. It was going pretty well until Octavia broke some news to me."

"Really? what did she say?"

"Oh nothing much, just that she has feelings for me-"

"Whoa whoa whoa, wait a second. She l-likes you?" Vinyl said, blushing furiously.

<She cracked.>

{Yup.}

"Well yes, is there a problem with that?"

"Well kind of..." Her voice trailed off.

"By all means, tell me then."

<Why are you doing this to her?>

{I want to make sure it's true.}

"Well if you haven't noticed... I kind of like you too..."

{There we go.}

<Still, you had a lot of proof that she likes but you still had to make her tell you?>

{...Yes.}

<Evil, very evil stallion, you are.>

I chuckled, "I know that part. And I'm still trying to decide what to do. If I choose one of you over the other, the other will be depressed. That's as far as I've gotten."

Vinyl said quietly, "You're so considerate..."

I chuckled, "What was that?"

Vinyl then noticed that I could hear things, "Oh! N-nothing..."

Soon the waiter came, "Have you two decided on anything?"

"I'll just have a coffee." I said smiling.

"A daisy sandwich for me." Vinyl said, clearing her mind.

She's definitely getting better at this.

The waiter nodded and said, "Okay then, I'll be back in a few minutes with your food."

Well, the next chapter I do is going to be on this little talk we have going here. Conversion week is still going on,  so get to recording guys!

And yes, I do have some consciences. If you haven't noticed, the calmer one is Piano and the more ecstatic one is Accent. Just sayin'.
