“Alright Squirt,” Firefly decided, rolling up her sleeves. “I’ll make this easy for ya.” She got up from the chair and stood in front of Rainbow Dash.

“Oh like you made my teenage years so easy for me?” Rainbow bit, grinding her teeth in agitation. She was seriously going to kill Pinkie once she broke free. She couldn’t believe that idiot had the nerve to tell her mother that she had a crush on Soarin!

“Now, now, no one likes a bitter virgin.” Her mother quipped. She smirked when she heard Dash thrashing against the chair. “Anyway, you don’t have to tell me about your little crush, but you are going to explain to me why you’re wearing a bra all of a sudden. Or is he really the reason?”

Rainbow blushed. “N-No! They convinced me!” She jerked her head towards her friends. If she was going down, they were going down with her.

“Hmm? Is that true, Twilight?” Firefly asked.

Twilight sheepishly nodded, a chill running down her back from remembering the woman’s touch. “Y-Yes ma’am. We convinced her. But only cause she wanted to be sexy for once.”

Rainbow’s eyes nearly bulged out of her head. She’d rather take her mom knowing about her crush on Soarin than her knowing about that! Her head whipped in Twilight’s direction, giving her a glare that could rival Fluttershy’s Stare.

“Well it’s the truth!” Twilight protested, her hands up in surrender.

“You? You wanted to be sexy?” Firefly laughed. “For who? all throughout high school you were so busy focusing on your track career you didn’t even want to so much as look at a boy. And now all of a sudden you want to be Ms. Victoria’s Secret?” The business woman put her foot up on the chair. “Spill the beans, Dash. You’re surrounded.”

Rainbow snorted. “And why should I tell you anything?” She sneered. “You’ve done nothing but make fun of me my entire life. How can you even call yourself a mother when all you act like is a teenager?!”

Firefly rolled her eyes. “Oh please! Name one time I acted like a teenager!”

“Sixth grade, Parent Teacher Night.” Dash stated, frowning.

“As if I can remember something as far back as that.” Her mother scoffed.

Rainbow snarled. “Alright. Then let me refresh your mind for you.”

Dash stood outside her teacher’s classroom tapping her foot in agitation. She kept periodically looking down the hall, and sighed when she finally saw who she was waiting for. “You’re late.” She grunted, shoving the door open, not even waiting for her mother to step through.

“I had to work late, sue me. It puts a roof over your fuckin’ head.” Firefly responded, taking off her sunglasses. She followed Rainbow inside the classroom and sat in front of the teacher’s desk in a student’s desk. Being the busty woman that she was, she couldn't actually fit all the way in without some trouble. Dash groaned.

“Good evening, Ms. Firefly. I’m very familiar with your work. My son loves the Wonderbolts.” Her teacher greeted with a smile that looked like she had practiced for the past twenty minutes.

Firefly shook her head. “Oh, thank you, that’s very nice and all, but I’m no longer apart of the team. I may have started it, but it’s hard to run when you’re nine months pregnant with your first child.” Dash groaned again. “I own a sporting agency now that works with the team and other sports teams from Hoofington, Manehattan, Ponyville and most importantly, Canterlot.”

Rainbow was impressed. Her mother actually sounded professional for once! That pride was soon doused, though. “Though to be honest, the best talent usually lies here, within Cloudsdale.” Firefly gave the woman a lascivious grin, implying a double meaning.

“Yes, well, that’s nice to hear.” Rainbow’s teacher replied awkwardly. She cleared her throat and began to give her report on Rainbow. “Your daughter is very distracted. She usually spaces out during class and does not participate in the class activities. Is there something going on at home?” She asked, concerned.

“No, no. Absolutely not. What gave you that idea?” Firefly asked, almost appalled. Almost. By the way Dash could see her mother side glancing her, she knew she was embarrassed that their relationship problems had leaked into her schoolwork.

“Well,” Her teacher folded her hands. “At the beginning of the year she was getting excellent grades in all her subjects. Now, she barely does any homework, almost never shows up to class, and bullies the other students.”

Dash slid down a little in her seat, partially covering her face.

Firefly glared at her. “Well, when we get home I will be sure to have a stern talk with her.” She assured the teacher.

Rainbow snorted. Stern talk her ass. All she was going to do was give her a ‘Don't do that again’ lecture and be on her merry way. She was only acting out because her mother’s new job caused her to work late hours and be away from home. Dash only saw her in the mornings, if that. And if she had to see another take out menu, she was going to puke.

“Have you ever taken into consideration that your long work nights may be affecting your relationship with your daughter?” Her teacher suggested. “And causing her to act out in school for your attention?”

Dash’s ears perked up at this. Maybe she was just trying to get her mother’s attention. After all, when her father left, the only parent she really had was her mother. And now that she was working late and taking business trips it was just her by herself in that big mansion. She was lonely. And that was the only thing Dash hated more than losing.

“Are you saying that I don’t care for my child?!” Firefly barked protectively. Dash sat up. She hadn’t heard her mother speak in a tone like that in a long time.

Dash’s teacher was taken aback by her sudden hostility. “No, not at all. But I do think it would benefit you both if you spent more time with her. It would show both at home and in her school work.”

“Well I think-”

“She’s right.” Dash spoke up for the first time, not looking at her mother or her teacher. “You’re never home. I never see you. You don’t even come to my track meets anymore!” She shouted angrily, tears beginning to sting in her eyes. “You don’t even treat me like your daughter! You just treat me like I’m just, just there! Like I'm some freaking heavy burden or some unwanted responsibility!”

“Is that how you feel?” Firefly asked softly. Dash nodded. “After all that I’ve done for you?! That’s how you fucking feel?! Who buys you those hundred dollar shoes for you to go to those track meets, huh?! Who clothes you, feeds you, gives you things?! Who is the only person still here for you?! Because it sure as hell isn’t your father!”

Dash angrily rose from her seat and stormed out the classroom, the door slamming roughly behind her.

“Dashie had a really good relationship with her father.” Firefly explained, seeing the incredulous looks on the girls’ faces when Rainbow was done with her story. “I guess I was always jealous of that. And it made me feel like shit. So I guess, in turn, I made her feel like shit.”

Applejack whistled. “Wow. Talk about a wayward family.” She then turned to Rainbow. “No wonder you turned out the way you did.”

“Watch it, Applesmack.” Dash warned.

Pinkie giggled. “Hehe! She called you Applesmack!”

Twilight hummed in thought. “Actually, statistically, you turned out better than you should have. My readings on children from troubled families say that you should have been a convict or a crack whore by now.” The others stared at her. “I said statistically. I never said it was completely accurate.” She added with a dull look.

“Anyway, I think that your problem with your sexual self esteem stems from your relationship with your mother. You believe your self worth is less than it really is, mainly because you had someone as high positioned and frankly attractive-” Twilight blushed- “-as your mother, bringing you down constantly.”

“Thanks for that in depth analysis, Dr. Phil.” Rainbow told her sarcastically. “If I wanted a broken home diagnosis, I would have gone on the show myself!”

“Well she’s not wrong.” Fluttershy piped. “You were so nervous that day Thunderlane asked you to prom because you were afraid to tell your mother. You turned him down because you thought she would laugh in your face.”

Firefly let out a loud laugh. “She’s right, I would have!”

Everyone glared at her.

“What?!” She barked.

“I think the best thing to do is for you two to do is to talk it out- Alone.” Twilight said with finality. “The only way your relationship can at last start to get better is if you both are willing to talk to each other.”

“Isn’t that how we got here?” Applejack asked. “Ah mean, Dash didn’t wanna talk to her, we kinda tied her up, and now they’re still fightin’.” She scratched her ear. They really didn’t leave square one yet, huh?

“Kinda?!” Dash echoed, glaring at her incredulously. “You tied me up like I was one of your rodeo pigs!” She wiggled around for emphasis.

“Well it ain’t like you were willin’ to sit! We had to damn near drag you out the bathroom!” Applejack responded pointedly, folding her arms. “An’ we don’t tie pigs, we tie hogs! Learn before you start insultin’ people!”

Twilight pinched the bridge of her nose. “Dash if I give you twenty dollars will you please go with your mother and work this out? I don’t think I can listen to you all squabble like infants anymore!”

“Deal!” Rainbow exclaimed, as Applejack untied her. Twilight sighed in relief before digging in her pocket and handing her the bill.

Rainbow held up the dollar to the light and snickered, turning to Firefly. “What do you say Ma?" She asked her, smirking. "Wanna go grab some drinks?”
