Rainbow Dash woke to see Twilight's horribly grinning face, staring at her. Rainbow resisted the urge to shriek and asked "What's up with your face Twilight? Hell, why am I in some lab?"

"You're taking this surprisingly well. Good, it'll make what's to come easier" Twilight said, noting down something on a clipboard.

"Well, this is just a prank, right?" Rainbow laughed. Her laugh disappeared the instant Twilight gave her a quizzical look. "Right?" Rainbow said, the hope in her slowly dying as she did.

"Nope. You see, I need a way to preserve the Elements for the future. After a bit of study, I found that the Elements are very likely a biological reaction. I'm just going to crack your brain open and see what's inside" Twilight said, looking through the scalpels on her lab coat until she found one that pleased her. She walked over to Rainbow, grinning madly.

"Dear Celestia, I'm so sorry

please forgive my sins"

Rainbow despaired, knowing she was going to die. Tears began to flow from her eyes but she did not struggle. It would be pointless to try. She might as well die with dignity. Twilight wasn't going to let her though.

"Not the sports pony with the hungry bowels

Hear my prognosis, will you live?

Twilight laughed while bringing the scalpel to Rainbow's head. Rainbow's look of stoic fear was replaced by confusion. Hungry bowels? What did that mean?

"Doubtful"

Twilight sang delightedly before digging the scalpel into Rainbow's head. What little composure Rainbow had dissolved as the pegasus began crying in agony. Twilight slashed through skin and flesh before stopping at the bone. The respite was brief though, as Twilight cut through the bone with little trouble, exposing Rainbow's brain. Rainbow vomited on Twilight's hooves during the trauma. Twilight frowned at the waste then picked it up with a swab and put it into a jar.

"Remember the street physicians

carving flesh sculptures"

Twilight sang cheerfully while she walked to a computer. She could now begin the next step. Rainbow managed one thought through her pain: What was Twilight talking about? She found out as Twilight blasted her brain with images of Pinkie,Twilight, Rarity, AJ, and Fluttershy all brutally attacking her like dogs. Twilight laughed as the Rainbow squirmed. The images weren't real but the pain was. That would be all she needed to create false memories.

"They painted your flank like a Rembrandt

Ha! They liked it a lot"

Twilight sang, intensifying the dosage of imagery. Now instead of attacking her, the images tortured her in all the ways possible.

Twilight sang, unable to resist giving herself a little praise. After all, who else could make Rainbow think of abandoning her friends? Twilight looked at the monitor and saw that Rainbow's psyche now had her chasing her friends and taking vengeance.

"I remember

I remember"

Rainbow growled, spittle dripping from her mouth. Who needed friends? They were nothing to her that was for sure. Twilight wrote down the results, the shades cheering her on while she did. Incredible, it had been so easy to break Rainbow's loyalty. That proved to Twilight that she was doing the right thing. What would have happened if Loyalty broke against Chrysalis? Of course there was still some loyalty to Cloudsdale. That needed to be remedied.

"See my knife

See it glide

See it slice"

Twilight sang, beginning a new vision. It involved Rainbow being forced to slaughter innocent fillies because Cloudsdale had a Darwinian policy. Twilight had come up with the story after reading some of Fluttershy's horror stories(who would've guessed that she was a horror writer?)

"Oh, who's the Night Surgeon"

Twilight said, patting herself on the back yet again. Her self praise stopped when she realized her results weren't going as fast as she expected. Time to crank it up again. She showed the Cloudsdale people demanding money from Rainbow Dash and killing her when she didn't.

"Hope you have their money

Or it's Bon Voyagee!"

Twilight sang, taking in the good-natured laughter from the wraiths. Ever since she had started the experiment, the ghostly creatures had been so nice and supportive. She had to do this for her own sake as well, lest the ghosts become evil again.

They did my flank like dishes

Rainbow roared in an attempt to stop the pain and imagery. Pegasi branding her with cutie marks, cutting of her ears, and gutting her ran through her mind in a maddening vortex. Twilight grinned almost as widely as the ghosts. Rainbow was almost done.

"I remember

I remember!"

Rainbow chanted frantically, foam flying from her jowls. Everypony would pay! They would burn in the pits of Tartarus, Hell, Irkalla, Niflhel, Narak, or whatever horrible punishment awaited them in the next world. Finally, Twilight saw the spark of Loyalty pop out and caught it with her magic. Twilight then cut Rainbow loose. It would be interesting to see her reaction.

"I remember every dying whisper,

Every desperate murmur

I remember when I gaze upon her,

Rainbow babbled deliriously, quite clearly having lost her mind. Then she looked at her cutie marks with hatred. Even she was not exempt from punishment! Everyone will burn!

"I remember marking every victim with acute precision"

Rainbow growled, now looking at the marks almost hungrily. She sunk her teeth into one savagely.

Rainbow grunted through clenched teeth while Twilight clapped her hooves with joy. This was better than she could have ever dreamed.

"I remember, I dismember!

Rainbow roared before tearing a hunk of flesh off her on flank. She licked her lips, enjoying the taste. Her grin was filled with blood as she punched into her body again, brutally ripping it.

"No medic will give me anasthetic

Stupid marks get the teeth treatment"

Rainbow screamed in between bites. Her flank completely ravaged, she moved onto her wings. Feathers were ripped out and tossed about while the blood drunk pegasus ate. Twilight flinched back with a look of shock. She was happy about this but, woah, this was brutal!

"I'll be the horror on your street corner

make your momma mourn you"

Rainbow said, finally beginning to let up on the bites. Not out of her own volition, just because she was loosing blood. She had convinced herself that she would kill everypony in the world followed by herself. Twilight couldn't let her credit be stolen.

" I'm the Night Surgeon!

Twilight interrupted before beginning to pack up her equipment. She needed it out of the way to properly preserve Rainbow. Rainbow looked shocked as if she had just realized what she'd done.

"I remember"

Rainbow mumbled weakly while giving Twilight a look of pure hatred. Finally, she coughed up blood and fell to the ground, dead from the shock.
