(SiC) Part 4 - A Rarity Of A Situation
Chapter 7: The Great Lie
Previous Chapter Next ChapterRarity found herself back home after her breakfast, or more like brunch with her friends. She went back to the counter and looked through the rest of her mail. There was a special letter that was sent to her from her parents. Rarity quickly opened up the letter and a piece of paper and something metal fell to the counter. Rarity looked down and realized it was a necklace. This wasn't just any old necklace. This was her very first favorite piece of jewelry that she had worn when she was growing up. The necklace was gold and had a cross on it. In the center of the cross was a gemstone that represented the month she was born. Rarity looked at the piece of paper and it was a check for one thousand bits. Rarity went back to reading the letter.
The letter read, "Dear Rarity, we want to wish you the very best and happiest birthday ever this year. We miss you so much and we pray for you every night. We hope you still thirst for the Word of God and that you have been having devotionals with Sweetie Belle as well. We raised you up in the truth and we hope that you're continuing that with Sweetie Belle. We sent you a very old and personal piece of jewelry that you used to love to wear when you were just a little filly. Do you remember this? We bought this for you after you gave your life to Christ and confessed your love for Him at your Baptism. I hope you will be inspired to wear it again. We miss you so much and we can't wait to see you again. Remember, if you ever need any additional help with supporting your business, we would be more than willing to put in some extra money for you. We sent you a little money to help you out. We know it isn't much, but if you need more, just please write to us. We love you so much! Yours truly, Mom and Dad.
Rarity slowly put the message down and then looked at herself in the mirror. She was not the same mare that she once was, and even though she may be one of the prettiest mares in Equestria, she felt totally ugly and she couldn't bear to look at herself in the mirror. Rarity looked down at the necklace. There would be no way she could wear this and represent Christ after what she had gotten herself into. Rarity opened up the drawer and placed it inside. She closed the drawer and sighed. She was being plagued with conviction by the Holy Spirit, but she was doing her best to ignore it. Whenever she would face conviction from the truth, she would tell herself a lie over and over to the point where she started believing the lies over the truth.
Rarity headed back over to her room. She took out that pay check she got and looked at the figure again. She decided to take a trip to the bank to deposit her pay check from the strip club, as well as the pay check from her parents. After her trip to the bank, Rarity did some shopping and came home with bags full of groceries.
Sweetie Belle instantly raced over and threw her front legs around Rarity's front leg. "Happy Birthday big sis! I was thinking about you all day at school, and I just couldn't wait for you to get home! Can we do something special together?"
Rarity put down the bags of groceries and said, "Thank you so very much Sweetie Belle, but right now I have to cook dinner for the both of us. I don't think I have time right now."
Sweetie Belle frowned and asked, "Can I help you cook dinner, Rarity?"
Rarity shook her head no and said, "I'd like for you to do your homework now, Sweetie Belle. You know how you procrastinate so much when it comes to school work. I'll be fine making dinner on my own. Thanks."
Sweetie Belle moaned out loud and walked over to her back pack to pull out her home work.
Rarity went back into the kitchen and began to prepare their meal.
Rarity spent a few hours preparing the meal. She hadn't eaten real food in a while, and she was often gnawing on protein bars and snacks that probably weren't the best when it came to healthy eating. It was her birthday today, and she wanted to eat well. She also felt guilty for all of the frozen dinners she would heat up for Sweetie Belle to save more time for herself.
Sweetie Belle came into the kitchen and put the tea kettle on. When the tea was ready, she left the kitchen with it.
After a little while longer, Rarity placed the meal on the kitchen table. "Dinner is ready!" Rarity called out, but there was no answer. Rarity's eyes opened wide in horror. She had left her door to her room open and she had pictures of herself laying on her desk. She would be terrified if her little sister went inside her room and found them. She knew that she had admonished Sweetie Belle multiple times not to go into her room, especially if the door is shut, but Sweetie Belle was often curious and could get herself in trouble sometimes. Rarity ran out of the kitchen and called out for Sweetie Belle, but there was no answer. Suddenly, she heard some giggling and looked across the living room.
There on the floor, was Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom, and Scootlaoo. They had a small table set up and were sitting around it.
Sweetie Belle waved her hoof at Rarity and said, "I invited my friends over to throw you a small tea party! Come sit down and have some tea with us, Rarity."
"Oh, why that is so very generous of you, Sweetie Belle, but we have to eat dinner now." Rarity looked at Scootaloo and Apple Bloom. "Girls? Did you eat dinner?" she asked.
Scootaloo and Apple Bloom shook their heads no.
"Sweetie Belle told us that we could come over here for dinner after school and then we could have a big party," Apple Bloom said.
"Oh dear," Rarity said. "Well, it looks like I have made plenty of food for all of you."
"Can we have our tea party first, Rarity?" Sweetie Belle asked.
Rarity looked at the time and felt her stomach grumble. "I'm afraid not, Sweetie Belle. We need to eat first. It's getting rather late."
Sweetie Belle frowned and went into the kitchen.
Scootaloo and Apple Bloom followed closely behind her.
Rarity took her time eating her food, even though Sweetie Belle and her friends had already devoured their meals and tried to get Rarity to hurry up so she could have a tea party with them. After that, Sweetie Belle wanted to do something extra special with her sister. It could be anything that tickles her fancy. Even if it meant that she would end up sitting at a clothing store and waiting five hours for Rarity to try on new outfits. Sweetie Belle sat patiently watching Rarity nibble on every little bit of food. She had a rather big grin on her face because she couldn't wait for Rarity to finish eating her meal.
"Sweetie Belle, do you know that it's not very lady-like to stare at others, especially when they are eating?" Rarity asked.
"I just want you to hurry up so we can do some fun things together!" Sweetie Belle said. Sweetie Belle looked out of the kitchen and noticed that Scootaloo and Apple Bloom were bored, so they found a game of checkers and decided to play that while they waited for Rarity.
Rarity gently scraped the last bit of food off her plate and ate it. She got up and put all of the dishes and silverware into the sink.
Sweetie Belle grabbed her big sister by the hoof and said, "Come on! Let's have our tea party!" Sweetie Belle practically dragged Rarity into the living room.
"Well, I guess I can stay and have a tea party for a little while, but I do have other things to do and I...." Rarity paused for a moment and gasped when she looked at the time. "Oh, Sweetie Belle! I'm late! I don't have time to do anything with you tonight!"
Sweetie Belle's mouth hung open in shock. "But, but, but, I waited all day and made special plans to do things with you. Where are you going? You never used to leave the house at this time before, and now all of the sudden you have been going out at night."
Rarity tried to think of an excuse to cover her tracks. "I-I-I'm just going back to Twilight Sparkle's Bible study with the other girls tonight."
Sweetie Belle perked up and said, "Really? That's great! We want to come too! Right girls?"
Scootaloo and Apple Bloom began agreeing that they wanted to tag along .
Rarity felt a drop of sweat trickle down her forehead. "I can't let you do that," Rarity said.
"Why not?" Sweetie Belle asked in a pouty tone of voice.
"Because I think they are studying things that are a bit too mature for you and your friends to hear. Mommy and Daddy gave you many books that were intended for fillies and colts to read when it comes to understanding the Bible. You can go read those with your friends if you'd like to."
"But we're all big girls now, and we want to understand more about the Bible. Those books Mom and Dad gave me are too simple and boring," Sweetie Belle said.
"Sweetie Belle, I am not going to argue with you. I can not allow you to come with me. If I get back in time, then maybe we could do something together, but I have to go now. I'm already late. Remember to stay out of my room. Have fun girls."
Before Sweetie Belle could even say another word, Rarity had left the three fillies alone. Sweetie Belle's eyes welled up with tears and she broke down crying.
Scootaloo and Apple Bloom came closer to comfort her.
