                                                             Chapter 2

I woke up to hear the surprising sound of, birds chirping. Man why in the whole sane world would there be birds chirping in the middle of the desert? I, however, hadn’t opened my eyes yet. When I did, I saw forest. Forest, wow, just wow. Forest in the middle of the desert as well. I got up, and saw the whole thing just vanish. It was a mirage.

“Thunderstorm, I’m seeing things” I told Thunderstorm. But he was nowhere to be found.

“Dang, just left me here? Left here by the only other friendly pony in the desert, Harsh” I told myself, outloud.

I started to trot, then suddenly a random Pegasus in a gas mask, turban, and cloak landed in front of me. And I was unarmed. Dang, I was unarmed and in no state to fight at the time.

“We all do in the desert Aut’mn” The masked Pegasus said.

I was so pleased to hear this. It was Thunderstorm behind those clothes.

“Here, take this” he said as he tossed me a gun.

“Whats this for?” I asked with a very very confused tone.

“We aw’ goin’ intew a geo city, I carried you behind this dune here and went to get some supplies. We’ll act as new city folk” he told me in a rather offensive voice.

“Thunderstorm, you ok bro?” I asked him in a calmed voice.

He stamped on the sand and kicked some into the air. He had a deep sadness in his eyes, which he looked at me with. Then I knew why he was so mad and saddened.

“ah should’ve been thur Aut’mn, I should have seen those artillery batteries. If I had then I probably could’ve saved ya’ll” he told me in a voice that was full of regret and sorrow.

“Bro, to be honest. I thought the captain’s orders were to destroy the base, not the batteries” I told him in a tone that I would hope to lighten him up.

“Ayeup, but am’ purtty shur’ that that would follow along the captain’s first orders” he said right back at me. Seeing that he won, I turned our attention to something else, to get off that subject. I turned our attention to our supplies, but I really didn’t want to get into that. I asked anyways though.

“Ammo, food, and medicine” he told me in a plain tone.

“Where is your gun?” I asked to switch the subject, again.

“I hid it in this here duffle bag I found” he told me in an upbeat tone.

I told Thunderstorm that we should be heading into the city. He agreed and tossed me a duffle bag, the same color as his. I smiled lightly and threw it over my shoulder. But then a sharp pain spread throughout my body. I had forgotten about my wing, how the hay do you forget about your most likely broken wing and just start throwing stuff on it? I didn’t quite ignore the pain, because apparently Thunderstorm noticed my expression. He tried to hold in his laugh, he almost did. He snickered, which made him laugh, which made him end up in the sand, rolling around like a colt. I ignored him and continued to trot onto the dune itself. Eventually, Thunderstorm got up from his puddle of tears and actually decided to start following me.

“Well gaaalee Thunder, if you would’ve cried into our water bottlers, then that would’ve kept us from dehydration for half a year” I told him in a ticked off voice.

This didn’t make him stop laughing, it made him fall into the sand, guffawing. I face hoofed and kept trotting. But then I saw a few guards, I ducked back down and told Thunderstorm to shut up for a sec. He closed his muzzle and galloped up to me, like he knew what was going on. I slowly poked my head up to see where these guards were headed. They were headed right for us, as if they knew we were here.

“Dang, ok Thunderstorm they are headed our wa-” I stopped and saw them heading towards a road headed into the desert.

“ok never mind, they are heading somewhere else” I explained to Thunderstorm.

Thunderstorm nodded and started climbing over the dune, heading to the city. I followed him, trying to keep up with him as much as I could. I couldn’t however, he was galloping like he was trying to get away from me. HE EVENTUALLY DID!! WHY THE HAY WOULD YOU LEAVE SOMEPONY OUT IN THE DESERT WHO WAS YOUR ONLY COMPANION? This was nerve-racking, I was in the middle of bucking nowhere. With nopony to guide me through it. Then, lucky for me, a whole buckload of guards came around the corner. I turned around and started to make a gallop for it, then a little colt came up to me and asked me a question in a Canterlot voice. A Canterlot voice, why was a geomanian colt speaking in my language?

“Why are you killing us?” he asked in a soft voice.

“I uhh-, look kid, I don’t like killing you guys. I’m just following orders” I told him.

I gave him a light smile and galloped up some stairs I found leading to some random rooftop. While I was galloping up those stairs though, I felt a sharp pain to my wing again. This time it was throbbing and hurting like I don’t know what. I got to the top of the stairs and sat there, waiting for it to stop. It seemed to never stop, that’s when I started scooting towards the center of the rooftop. I did this to try and stay hidden and give time for me to heal. I started wincing, this was pain I had never felt before, this worse than getting shot! Mother of buck this hurt. It hurt so much that I couldn’t move, so I lie there. Hoping that Princess Luna or Celestia would give me the strength to keep moving. They didn’t give me any strength, but they did give me a miracle. A Equestrian dropship, it looked like it came to pick Thunderstorm and I up. But Thunderstorm was nowhere to be found, so I lie there, waiting for the medics to hoist me up. They did eventually, due to the fact that they were under heavy fire from all around. After they got me in, they started off back towards a base. I went to sleep after that, and I didn’t wake up until the next morning.

I awoke to the sound of birds chirping, again. This was getting weird. Was the desert reminding me of home? Or was it just doing its hallucinations? I didn’t want to know at all, but when I tried to get up, I couldn’t. I looked down and saw I was strapped down on a bed that wasn’t even that comfortable. I knew wings wouldn’t help, but I tried anyways. I couldn’t even feel them move, and when I looked over, to my horror they weren’t there!!

“Holy shi-” I said before a doctor came in.

“hello Autumn! How are you feeling today?” he asked me in a tone that was supposed to “help” me feel better.

“Just fine, despite the fact that 1. I’m strapped to a bed, and 2. My wings are gone. Now other than this, I just want you to know I’m completely fine!!” I told him in a sarcastic tone.

“Umm, yeah. We strapped you down because you were about to die. You had shrapnel in your gut and heart. We took those out but we didn’t want you trying to get out if you ever woke up” he told me in an innocent voice.

“Yeah? Reeeaaally? What about my wings? I was a Pegasus I’m sure. Now I’ve had my wings for twenty-one years. So they are or were perhaps, VERY important to me” I told him in a worried tone.

“Well your wings were completely broken and of no further use to you, so we amputated them. Now we know that you needed these wings to obviously you know, fly. But where your going and what your going to be doing. I’m afraid you wont need them anymore.” he told me in another innocent tone.

I thought about this for a sec, and remembered Thunderstorm. I owed him ,at the least, a knock over the head. I asked permission to get up and the doctor gave it to me. I told him I was sorry (even though I wasn’t) if I was being cross with him, and galloped out. I trotted out and saw a whole group of nurses and doctors tending to wounded ponies and such, but I had never been here before. Heck I didn’t even know if we were on a base. Then I heard Thunderstorm’s voice and some other pony’s voice. I followed the sound and rounded a corner where I accidentaly bumped into the nurse Sparkleworks, causing her medicine and tranquilizers to fly everywhere.

“Oh my Luna, I’m so sorry, here let me get that” I told her.

“No its fine hun, I got it” she responded in a forgiving tone.

“Are you sure? I’m a big help and I’m willing to help anypony out” I told here again.

She put her hoof over my mouth and told me “Its ok hun, ive got this” in a reassuring tone and smirked.

“O-Oh ok” I told her with a blush.

She continued to pick up her medicine bottles and I trotted on, lovestruck. I heard Thunderstorm’s voice again and rounded yet another corner. There he was just standing there, with regret on his face. I trotted up and gave him what he deserved, a knock over the head.

“Ow!!” Thunderstorm said with shock in his voice.

“That’s what you get mother bucker” I told him in a cross tone.

“Look Aut’mn, I’m deepleh sawry ‘bout that and all but it was orders! Ah wouldn’tve dun that if I didn‘ have to!!” he told me in a honest voice full of more regret.

“What Orders? Who gave them to you?” I asked eagerly.

“Captain Proto Aut’mn” he said.

This hurt me to know that the country I was fighting for was already turning its back on me. So I took a walk around the place and then some random military clerk came up to me.

“Autumn?” he asked

“Yeees?” I asked back.

“Your needed on the deck” he told me.

“What? Where are we, I don’t even know where this deck is!!” I shouted.

“Oooohhhh, sorry! Here follow me!” he said with an excited tone.

I followed him around for a bit until finally(after about 15 minutes), we got to a window with an odd shutter.

“Pull that switch, then you can have an idea of where we are” he told me excitedly.

I pulled the Switch and the shutter continued to open horizontally. Upon its first little bit of opening, saw a whole sky full of stars and saw a huge planet. It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

“This is what you don’t see down on Equestria Autumn, unless your on the moon” A voice from behind told me.

“Princess Luna” the Clerk and I said in unison as we bowed at her hooves.

Princess Luna told us to be at ease and we got up, with an awkward look on my face, I thought to myself.

“What was the Princess doing here?” I thought to myself.

“If your wondering why I’m here Autumn, it is due to this war. Its killing Equestria and Geomania. I’m afraid we are facing an apocalyptic threat if this continues, which it will. However, it’s not just Geomania. In a few years, after its all over, Extra-Terrestrials will invade both Equestria and Geomania. Our defenses will be too weak and I’m afraid our only resolve will be time-machines” Princess Luna said in a sorrowful tone.

“Will I be the one going Princess?” I asked cautiously.

“I’m afraid so my dear Autumn” Princess Luna said.

“Well, I’m ready when you are Princess. If this event Is Inevitable then I’ll still do my best to rewrite it.” I told the Princess in a ready tone.

“Are you sure you want to go now? I mean, at least you would want to say bye to Thunderstorm, maybe?” Princess Luna asked in a surprised tone.

“I know I probably should but let him know for sure but ill be back wont I?” I asked cautiously.

“Well, you wont be going alone, Thunderstorm will be there beside you, I wanted you to go and tell him just so you could trot all the way back here to tell me you told him” Princess Luna said.

“You were trying to trick me?” I asked with a pitiful tone.

“Trying to troll you, yeah” Princess Luna said.

I shrugged, not really paying any attention to Princess Luna’s fail attempt at trying to troll me. But what did surprise me was that Thunderstorm would be coming with me.

“When will we be leaving?” I asked politely.

“We?” Princess Luna asked.

“Yeah, you said Thunderstorm and I didn’t you?” In a confused tone.

“Nah, just you” Princess Luna said after thinking about it.

“But you just sai-” I told her in protest tone.

“Problem?” Princess Luna said.

I laughed and said “Nope, no problem at all Princess”. Princess Luna grinned ear to ear as she turned to the opposite direction of me.

“If you are ready, then follow me” Princess Luna said cautiously.

I followed willingly as ever and tried to look like I deserved this mission, I did this by not prancing and dancing around like a little school filly. After about a few minutes of silence and trotting, we got to a door. It looked like the odd window the clerk lead me to, it opened the same, looked the same. Heck it even had the same features. Princess Luna pulled the lever this time and I say, when the door opened completely, I was scared half to death.
