It was dark. So very dark. Wherever he looked, it was only darker. He tried blinking repeatedly to see if it was an illusion. But nothing changed. He clambered up to his hooves. Only to be met with screeching pain.

"Aaahhhhh!" He wailed as he clutched his chest. He felt a screaming hot pain shot through him. Especially in his heart.
"What is this?!" He fluttered his wings as he began to lose his balance.

"Baabbbyyy Bluuuueee!!"

"Huh?"

"Baabbbyyy Bluueeee!!"

"Wait...mum? Mother? Is that you?"

"Oh Baby Blue! Where are you?"

"I'm here!! I think. Wait, where am I?" The light blue pegasus stallion whizzed around in a circle. Hoping to glance at the pony calling him.

"Soarin. Don't fret. I'm right here, sweetie." A gentle blue pegasus mare stood before the younger stallion. Smiling gently ar the stallion. Who just simply stared back.

"M-mother? Is that really you?"

"Of course it is, sweetie pie. It's me. Now give your mama a big hug." She hovered up slightly as she outspread her arms. The stallion galloped towards the mare without thinking, and leapt into her arms.

"But you're dead. You died. Along with dad. Why are you here? Am I dead?"

"Oh Soarin." She hushed as she stroked his windswept mane. "You always ask so many questions. Such a curious little titch."

"So where am I? I mean, where are we?"

"We're nowhere, sugar. And you're not alive, but you're not dead either."

"I'm not dead. Wait...what happened...." The stallion pushed himself away. Trying to remember the previous events before the darkness. He remembered....lots of ponies. Fighting. He remembered flying with two alicorns. And he remembered a strange tall creature beside a couple of tall, bulky pegasi. But then he remembered seeing a glimmering blade lodged in his chest. The feeling of warm, sticky blood streaming down his fur. He felt the cold hardness of the ground as fell from the sky. But most of all, what hurt him most, was the crying of a young mare. The young mare that loved him.
"I...I-I...."

"Don't worry, honey. After you passed out, you were teleported to the hospital. You're in bed, in a coma as we speak."

"So...I'm not dead?"

"No, you silly stallion. You're not dead. Not yet anyway."

"So why can't I wake up? Waking up is easy. Well not on a weekend, but can't I just get up?"

The mare giggled to herself. Closing her light green eyes.
"You're very weak, dearie. Very weak. You won't last very long. I'm surprised you lived this far."

"I'm going to die?!" Soarin gulped. He had so much to look forward to in his life. He was still young. He wanted to party and spend time with friends. Help others out. Relax and chat with mates. Get drunk and forget the night before. But most of all, fall in love. Which had done. But unfortunately, he won't be able to see his loved one.
"I can't die. I've fallen in love. I can't just leave her."

Soarin's mother growled.
"Of course you can leave her. She's just a filthy, bitchy assassin. She should be dead, and not you."

"No. Don't say th-wait...how do you know that she's an assassin?" Soarin turned to his mother. Who's eyes snapped open wide. He glared at the elder mare.

"W-Well...I-I...errr..." She stuttered. Soarin stamped his hoof.

"I am not leaving Rainbow. She is not a filthy assassin. She's a lovely mare. With a sunny personality."

"Soarin. Honey." She gritted through her teeth. "Her pathetic father killed me and your father."

"That was her father. Not her. And anyway, you were smuggling terrorists into Equestria." Soarin snapped.

"How the bloody hell did you find out?! You were too young to know!!....oh shit."

Soarin glared at his mother. Anger rising through him.
"So it's true?! You were smuggling terrorists into Equestria?! And I was only a cover up story?!"

"Of course not, Soarin. We loved you."

"Loved?! Loved?! So you don't love me now?!" He shouted. Tears brimming his eyes.

"We....we...."

"You what?!"

"We love you...but we don't."

"Hey-hu-whaa?" Soarin grew confused over the statement his mother shouted. It made no sense.

"We love you so much, sugar. It's just that....you're with that rainbow mare."

"So."

"So, if you don't leave her, we won't love you. We'll leave you." She snorted.

"You sick twisted cow. I'll never leave, Dash."

"What?!"

"If you really loved me, you wouldn't care if I dated anypony. If it was somepony evil like...like Nightmare Moon. Or even if I dated Princess Twilight. You wouldn't care. But you obviously don't love me enough. I'm in love with Rainbow Dash. I love her with all my heart."

The mare just stared at the Wonderbolt. Who just stood confidently before her. He stood in a protective, ready-to-attack stance. His wings were spread out. Ready for any attack. But the stallion was in immense pain. He tried to push the pain away, but it was starting to show.

His mother looked down at him. With a dirty, evil look. She smirked to herself as she saw her son's pain.
"My, my, my Soarin. Grown quite a mind, haven't you? But, dear, you look like you're a lot of pain. Let your mother care for you." She edged closer to the stallion.

"No! Stay away from me! You are not my mother!! You are not my family!" He growled at her. But the pain grew and grew. His stance grew weaker as pain began to control him. His 'mother' walked closer to the weak pegasus. With a devilish grin growing.

"Come on, son. Don't you want mama to kiss you better?" Her voice was now distorted. Less angelic. She trotted closer. "Where's your Rainbow now?"

Soarin gasped as he staggered back. Dark flames began to flicker behind the pale mare. Her soft green eyes turned deep red. She opened her mouth. Revealing her new pointed, sharp fangs. Her hoof-steps echoed as she got closer to the Wonderbolt. Now she towered over her own son. Her eyes hungry. Her mouth twisted into a sick grin.

"Give me hug, sugar." It roared. Soarin stumbled back and stared at the demon before him. He couldn't move. Frozen by both fear and pain. He winced as as the thing before him roared again.

"Soarin!!"

He yelped out as more pain was inflicted upon him. He felt a warm liquid dribble down from his chest and head. The roars got louder as he covered his ears.

"Soarin!! Over here!!"

Soarin moved one hoof away from his ear. He was sure he heard her voice. But where? He tried look up but was only met with the sickening demon before him.

"Soarin!! Turn around!!" The voice called again. Soarin slowly turned his head. To see the mare he loved behind him. Beckoning him over.

"Rainbow?! Rainbow run!" He shouted at the cyan mare. He noticed the demon was now staring at the mare with the rainbow mane. Soarin began to panic. He couldn't let Rainbow get hurt. Not again. He will not be helpless. He shakily rose to his hooves. Pain swallowing him up. But he proceeded to go forwards. The demon ignored the stallion and leapt towards the unexpecting Rainbow Dash. The injured pegasus screamed out the mare's name. But it was too late. She was gone. Nowhere to be seen. His panicked green eyes frantically searched the area. Looking for either his loved one or the demon. He couldn't see any. However, he felt something cold behind him. He heard a horrible sound from behind. He gulped as he slowly turned his head.

Towering over him was a large black figure. Still pony shaped, but it was dripping black ooze. There were no eyes on this frightening figure. Only a set of dagger sharp teeth. Blood dribbled down the fangs of the creature.

"She tasted good." The disorientated voice growled.

"N-no. Stay away....leave me alone...no..." Soarin wailed as the oozing creature leapt towards him. The last thing he saw was absolute darkness, and the crying of a mare.

~~~~~~
"Quick! He's going into shock! Get the defibrillator! Stat!!" A brown unicorn yelled. The stallion in the bed jerked in sharp, quick motions. The machine beside the bed he was laying in was beeping manically. Three doctors surrounded the bed, doing whatever to save the stallion. Another pony came rushing in with an unusual machine.
"Come, Soarin! You can make it!" The unicorn hovered two of the defibrillators paddles and placed them onto the pale blue stallions chest. "Somepony out there is needing you! And you cannot leave her!" He shouted as the machine fizzed. Making the stallion's body jerk upwards. Before falling back onto the bed.
The only sound left in the room was the long high pitched beep. Echoing throughout the room.
