She sat by a cold, lifeless bed. Her eyes closed. Her head down. She sat in absolute silence. She couldn't cry. Her tears were all gone. Sucked dry. She cried them all out as she watched the blood of the pony she loved, create a sickly red puddle on the floor. Her usually prismatic mane, now dull as it drooped over her closed eyelids. Her whole body seemed grey. As if everything was sucked out of her. Which it was. All her happiness. All her confidence. Everything. The mare looked exactly like she was when a certain God of Chaos corrupted her. Her damaged wings hung limply by her sides. Loosely covered with grey bandages. Cuts and bruises marked on her dullened cyan coat. Especially slash marks. The mare gave up covering them. The world saw her pain. Emotionally and physically. She sat by a white hospital bed. Which held a certain pony. A certain stallion. Who was clinging on to dear life. Pumps and beeping of the machines connected to him filled the empty silence in the large white room. The pegasus mare held on to the stallion's hoof. As he struggled to live. His dark navy blue mane scuffled and messy. His pale blue coat grubby with dirt and dried blood. His wings outstretched. His eyes gently shut. As if he was sleeping soundly.

"If only you were quicker. You could have saved him."

"I know."

"I told you."

"Huh?"

"I told you."

"Told me what?"

"I told you that he would leave you. I told you that you would get hurt."

"...we all take risks for things and ponies we love."

"You idiot, Rainbow."

"I did what I had to do!! I need Soarin in my life!! I love him!!"

"You loved your parents! You loved your brother! You loved Thunderlane!!"

"Where you going with this?"

"And they all left you. Your parents were murdered. Your brother betrayed you. And Thunder was snatched away from you."

"...I know."

"And now Soarin will leave you."

"No. He won't."

"Admit it, Rainbow!! You stupid mare!! History keeps repeating itself!! He will die!!"

"History won't repeat! He'll live! He'll live."

"How do you know that?"

"Because...because...I've stopped living in the past. Yes it still hurts, but I can't live if I stay behind. Soarin showed me I can live forwards. And I will. That's how history will not repeat itself. Because Soarin will live."

"Oh Rainbow. You stupid, stupid-"

"Please....just...just go."

"...."

"I need...I need to be alone with him."

"...okay then. But, Rainbow,"

"Yes."

"Don't let go of him."

"I won't."

"And...sing to him."

"What?"

"The song. That song you and your mother came up with on Hearts and Hooves Day. When you were little. Your mother felt upset when your father had to leave for a mission. And it was their anniversary. Which was on Hearts and Hooves Day. Your brother left with some friends, and you wanted to cheer your mother up. So you came up with a song with her, and wrote it all in Latin."

"And she told me to say to the pony who you loved the most."

"So sing. Sing it to Soarin."

Rainbow looked up at the unconscious stallion. Her eyes dull and lifeless. That bright rose hue gone. But, she felt a spark. A spark of passion and love. She moved closer to Soarin and stroked his hair. She coughed before she began her song. Her song for her special somepony.

"The first time we ever met,
Your name was all I knew.
But as we got to know each other,
Daydreaming was all I could ever do.

Thinking about us taking long walks,
Holding hooves as we would talk.
All these things I would miss,
When all I wanted was a simple kiss.

Thinking about you holding me tight,
Wondering and hoping you just might.
Those cute eyes staring down at me,
That it was meant to be.

I just want you by my side again."
At this point, Rainbow broke down into more tears. Crying her sorrow into her loved one's side.

~~~~~~
"Poor Rainbow."
"That song was beautiful. And she meant it so much." A pretty pink alicorn wept. Her candy coloured curly mane covering her face. Everyone cried. Whether that was physically bursting into tears or holding it back. The sweet little song touched all of their hearts. The sweet little song which was sung by a heartbroken pony. Everypony now knew that the assassin and the Wonderbolt had something special between them. They knew that a flame flickered with them. However, now, the flame was shrinking. Dying. And they were all powerless to help.
The rest of the Wonderbolts, the mane six and the princesses sat in a room beside the one where Soarin and Rainbow were in. They could all clearly hear the tune sung by the pegasus mare. Although she wasn't a perfect singer, she still had quite a voice. But nearing the end, her voice cracked. The mare began to cry. And so did the eavesdropping ponies.
"The...Lords have been arrested. And taken to Canterlot Prison until further notice." Luna mumbled.
"Luna. Not now." Celestia hushed. The last thing she wanted to hear right now, was those forsaken Lords!! Luna sighed. She did not understand 'Love'. She understand as much as loving a sister. Loving a friend. But not another pony. She didn't understand the whole relationship idea with being with another pony. Yes she knew that ponies created families by falling in love, but she also heard so much heartbreak. Couples breaking up. Foals separated from parents. Divorces. Orphans. And all of this because of some connection between somepony. She didn't understand the concept of this. She better ask Cadence about it.
"What should we do?" Fluttershy squeaked.
"What do you mean?"
"About Rainbow. She can't stay in the hospital over night. They won't allow it. She won't leave either."
The others nodded.
"I'll let her stay in the library. She needs to be with the ones she loves." Twilight quietly replied.
"Okay. But....what would happen if....Soarin doesn't...live?" Rarity coughed. She couldn't bear to think how heartbroken her pegasus friend would be. She'll never be the same mare they all knew.
"He will. He's stubborn as heck." Spitfire croaked. She couldn't stop crying. She was losing her closet friend. She couldn't handle it. She clutched onto the purple pegasus know as, Thunder. Who stroked the mare's fiery flame orange mane.
"Still. He was stabbed right in the heart. No one could survive that." Fleefoot mumbled. Her head resting on her fore-leg as she stared out of the waiting room window.
"Rainbow did. When tha Princesses tried ta kill her. An when her brother tried ta kill her to. She survived." Applejack said confidently. Hoping the others would agree.
"But she barely lived. For crying out loud, AJ. She was half dead. She was lucky to survive." Rarity whined. Remembering the last event a couple of years back.
"Yes but she lived, didn' she?!"
"Applejack. It was a miracle that Rainbow survived, but she only survived physically. We all had an idea of the emotional pain, but we can never know." Cadence explained. "We are all here for her, but when I'm around her...I can sense...I can feel her sorrow. I can feel her pain."
"One thing she's afraid of is losing everypony. That's why she tries to protect you all so much." Celestia glanced at the six bearers of the Elements of Harmony. Pinkie Pie sat by Applejack, Rarity and Surprise. Fluttershy sat nearest to the door with her brother. And Twilight sat next to Cadence and Luna. The Wonderbolts sat in a group in the far corner. Not saying anything. Just sitting silently. Spitfire and Thunder sat on the blue chairs in the other corner. Discord had returned to the library. Saying hospitals give him an uneasy feeling. And Celestia sat by the reception desk. Twilight just shook her head as she stood up.
"She won't lose any of us. I'll take her to the library. She could do with some rest."
~~~~~~

It was a quiet walk back. While the Wonderbolts and the girls went their separate ways home, the four princesses, the servant, the Captain and the assassin walked in complete silence, towards the Library. While the others sped off to get inside, a certain cyan pegasus dawdled. Not wanting to chat among the others. She kept her head low. Her eyes stuck to the ground.

It was dark outside. The sun had set a couple of minutes back. Giving the sky a mixture of colours from both day and night. While ponies were settling back into their newly fixed homes, some waved to the princesses. Thanking them for fixing their homes. The four alicorns had returned the houses to their normal state, and released the ponies from the Town Hall. So now, the only thing out of place was the memories of earlier. All the guards had been taken to Canterlot Prison until further notice. Whether they were forced to join or served at their own will. Also, all the assassins had either returned to their families or went back to the HQ of The Creed.

As they were walking down the streets of Ponyville, to the library, Twilight noticed the lack of a certain pegasus. She turned her head and stopped walking. Celestia glanced at her student and stopped the group as well.

"Twilight?"

"Where's Rainbow?" The purple alicorn asked quietly.

"Oh dear! How stupid are we?" Cadence blurted out. Realising they forgot about the Leader of The Creed while they were talking. "The poor dear has run off."

"But why?"

"Why do you think, Luna? She's trying to run away from her emotions. Fleeing from a fight." Twilight replied as she glared at the night princess. But she shouldn't really question her. The Princess had her battle to fight. Even if had been at least three years since she returned, Princess Luna was still a emotional wreck. But she never let that bring her down. She still had her fun. She still enjoyed her life. Even if every so often, when she looked, she saw the shadow she used to be.

"Yes. Well...we understand, Princess Twilight Sparkle. We understand the one named, Rainbow Miriam Dashery, and her feelings. We understand her heartbreak. We had to go through something similar. We had to go through the fact that our sister had betrayed us. That our sister pushed us aside. We are still coming to the fact that the only ponies we knew...are dead. We are still....heartbroken. But unlike Miss Dashery, we have not lost faith. We have not lost hope." Luna smiled to Twilight. Who's eyes suddenly lit up.

"That's it. That's how we'll get Rainbow back."

"Twilight?"

"Rainbow has lost all hope and faith. That's why she's turned grey. She hasn't lost her loyalty like when Discord corrupted her. She's just lost looking for light at the end of the tunnel."

"How do you expect to...fix...her?" Thunder asked the princess. Hoping he chose the right words.

"I have no idea! But I do know where to find her!!" She began to trot away from the group. "I'll meet you in the library later. The door is open. Spike and Discord are inside. Byeee!!" And she galloped. Out of sight. Towards her destination. Hoping that her broken friend would be there.

Author's Notes:

sorry for the wait. I had loads and loads of tests. Which I hope I passed.

But now, it's half term. Two weeks are absolutely nothing to do but writing this story. And yes, the song is my own. That's why the story took so long.

Please comment any errors. Thank you.
