"I'm sorry. But we couldn't find anything in The Crystal Archives or the library." A pink alicorn apologised as she lowered her head in shame. Feeling guilty as if this whole event was her fault.

A large pearl white wing was wrapped around her. Cadence looked up, into her adoptive aunt's musk rose eyes.
"There is nothing to be sorry about, my dear Cadence. You did your part to help." The elder alicorn smiled sweetly to the younger princess. "You did what you could do."

"But, auntie, if there's nothing, we can't do anything to stop the Pegasi Lords. Then there will be a war. Millions of innocent ponies killed for nothing. And....and..." Cadence spluttered as she began to cry. "...and....my Shining Armour...I don't want this war to happen! I don't want anypony to die! I don't want to lose Shining!!" The pink pony cried into Celestia's white chest. Her tears soaking the clean white fur.

"Hush, Mi Amore. Hush now. There's no need to cry." Celestia soothed as she stroked Cadence's mane.

"But there's nothing we can do, Sister. I agree with Cadence. I don't want a war among our ponies, but what can we do? We can't find anything." The nightly princess slouched down. Next to her sun sister. Twilight sat by her desk. Her straight midnight blue, pink and purple mane tangled. Heavy purple bags hung under her violet orbs. Her large lavender wings rustled and hanging by her sides. Piles of books surrounded the alicorn. She spent the whole night looking for a flaw in the treaty between Celestia and the Lords. But found nothing.

"Twi. You need to sleep." A short purple and green dragon poked his friend.

"No sleep....must....find...something.....waffles." Twilight muttered under her breath.

"Waffles? You hungry? I'll get breakfast then." Spike ran down to the kitchen to make five lots of breakfast.

"Thanks, Spike."

"Daisy coffee with three sugars, a dash of milk and a spoonful of honey coming up." Spike called from the kitchen.

"What would I do without you, Spikey Wikey?" Twilight placed the books back on their shelves. Each book lit up with pink aura. The princess sat down, next to Luna. Who sighed as the purple pony sat down.

"There is nothing. Nowt. Zero. Zelcho. Equestria is doomed."

Suddenly, the library door swung open. Waking the princesses out of their sleepy daze. A pegasus mare stood in the doorway with a confident smile on her face, and a surprised stallion behind her. Her wings flared out in confidence.

"There is something. And I know where to find it!"

~~~~~~
Four mares, four Wonderbolts, four princesses and an assassin trotted through the dark and dank Everfree Forest. A unicorn mare with indigo curls squealing each time she stepped in something.
"This is absolutely disgusting!!" She whined.
The girls simply rolled their eyes at their friend's over dramaticness. Vines hung over the thick branched trees, blocking most of the sun light. Luna lit up her horn, lighting the path ahead with ominous blue glow.
"Rainbow. Where are we going? You never said anything. Just to follow you." Twilight complained. It felt like they were walking for hours, where it was only three minutes. But she felt tired. And weak. Spike's waffles filled her up but didn't wake her up enough. She felt like she was going to fall asleep any second.
"To my house." Rainbow called from the front of the group.
"But Dashie. Your house is on a hill, south of Ponyville." Pinkie bounced next to the quivering butterscotch pegasus. Who was squeaking at each sound or movement.
"To my....family's house."
"Silly filly! You don't have a family. Well, except us. But, you said your family died. Killed by those meanie weanies who hated your family and assassins, and they kidnapped your brother and you watched them die and they watched the meanies ra-"
"PINKIE PIE!!" Rainbow yelled. Her wings flared out. The pink pony stopped bouncing and lowered her head.
"I'm sorry, Dashie. I didn't....I didn't...." Pinkie began to cry. Rainbow's angry expression softened as she fluttered over to her pink friend.
"Hey. I'm sorry for yelling. Okay? Now cheer up. You're just being Pinkie. Now, don't cry. I don't that incident to happen again." Rainbow chuckled as she hugged her friend. Pinkie snortled as she remembered that incident a couple of weeks back. The pegasus smiled and quickly trotted to the front of the group. Soarin was confused with Rainbow's moods. First she's calm, upset, angry then happy. Soarin just shook his head.
~~~

The group had been walking for five minutes when Rainbow stopped.

"We're lost, aren't we? Brilliant! Lost in giant creepy forest. Great going master assassin!" Silver Lining moaned as he waved his forelegs in the air. Everypony just stared at him in confusion.

"Silver Lining. Shut up." Soarin demanded, now being the one in charge of his colleagues as the captain had gone walk abouts.

"Yeah. What are you talking about? It's right there." Rainbow pointed to the grand house. Everypony, except Rainbow and Soarin, gasped and gazed at the beautiful house. While the others towards it, Celestia slowly walked up to the cyan pegasus.

"Are you sure you'll be able to go in there?" The white alicorn whispered.

The pegasus closed her eyes.
"Yes, your highness. I have to face it some time. It might even bring me peace." She grinned to the Princess.

~~~~~~
Just open the door. Just open the door. It's just a door. Nothing else.
While Rainbow's mind screamed at her, she shakily opened the door. It creaked loudly as it was swung open. Bits of paint fell of as the door finally moved from it's long sleep.
Don't go inside, you stupid mare!! It's killing you!!
The pegasus moved to the side of the door.
"After you." She smiled to the ponies. Her mind still screaming and shouting.
Twilight nodded and led the others inside. All of them gawping at the beautiful patterns engraved on the large, rotting mansion. As everypony went in, the assassin stood at the front door. They were too busy staring at all the stuff that was left inside. Like paintings, photos, furniture and books.
"My my, Rainbow Dash, darling. You sure lived in style. This place is enormous. And so beautiful." Rarity complimented. She gazed at a particular portrait of two elder assassins. One female and one male.
Soarin noticed the pegasus mare still standing in the doorway, and fluttered over to her.
"Rainbow?"
"I'm not sure....it's been so long...since then." The mare muttered. The blue stallion gently smiled to her and out his hoof. Rainbow looked at his hoof, before looking at him. He gave a reassuring smile to her.
"Come on. You can do it."
Rainbow gulped before she placed her hoof on his. She smiled to the Wonderbolt.
"Thank you."
While everyone was exploring around the house, two alicorns looked onto the scene. Cadence 'aww'ed and Celestia just beamed as the stallion helped Rainbow out.
"She has friends to help, but she needs someone closer." Cadence whispered.
"Well, Soarin told me that she's accepted him as a friend. For now."
The pink alicorn giggled.
"So cute!"
"Rainbow!! Do ya tink we can git some light in ere? It's way too dark!!" Applejack shouted from some faraway room.
"Yeah. Sure." Rainbow trotted to a cupboard near the door. She flicked some switches, hoping the generator in the cellar still worked.
The lights fizzed before giving off a homely golden glow.
"Thanks, Sugarcube!!"
~~~~~~

"So, Rainbow. Why didn't you want to come back here? This place is wonderful." Soarin asked. The two pegasi trotted around downstairs. Looking through books and cupboards. For anything that could stop the oncoming war. Or at least delay it.

The assassin sighed. She was still scared. Scared of being back. Remembering all the happy things here. Many Heart Warming days, birthdays, everything. And then, those memories faded. The thoughts of her parents deaths screamed throughout her mind.

"No. She's only young!"

"Leave my daughter alone!"

"Rainbow? Rainbow!" Soarin waved a hoof in front of the mare's face. Hoping to wake her from her trance. The pegasus shook her head as she returned to reality.

"Huh? Yeah?"

"I said, why didn't you want to come back here?"

"It's...it's were my parents died." Rainbow bumped her head on a loose shelf. Knocking various items like pots and pans. Them falling to the fall with clatter that vibrated throughout the house. Soarin quickly flew over and supported Rainbow before she fell. But, they both tripped over on one of the loose floorboards. The two ponies fell onto the hard wooden floorboards.

Soarin opened his eyes and rubbed his sore head.
"Ow." He moaned. His emerald green eyes opened wide in surprise as he saw Rainbow underneath him.

The cyan pegasus moved a hoof up to a cut on her forehead.
"Aaa." She yelped as a head began to sting. She fluttered her pink eyes and saw the pony on top of her. They madly blushed. Not moving at all.

"Are two okay? We heard-oOooo." Rarity and the others blushed at the scene in front of them.

The two ponies on the floor glanced at the others in doorway.

"E-errrr.....n-nothing is happening." Soarin stuttered.

Silver Lining began laughing.
"Whoo! You get them fast, don't ya Soarin! But in an abandoned house? Meh, it's not my ideal stop."

"S-shut up! We fell. Okay?" Rainbow's cheeks burnt as she she blushed furiously.

"Sure ya did, Sugarcube." Applejack teased.

"I FOUND SOMETHING!!" Twilight yelled from upstairs. Drawing the attention off the two fallen ponies.

"Come you two lovebirds. Upstairs." The ponies trotted away and towards the staircase.

Soarin turned back to the beautiful mare under him. Staring into her sparkling gem eyes. He smirked at the assassin.
Rainbow opened her mouth to talk but no words came out. The stallion moved his snout closer to Rainbow's.

"COME ON YOU TWO!!" Pinkie shouted. The two pegasi jerked up.

"Yeah. We're coming." Rainbow replied. Soarin got up and pulled the mare up.

"Come on then." Soarin fluttered over to the staircase. Grumbling about how close he was then. The pegasus mare giggled. An unusual thing to happen to Rainbow. She giggled at the stallion's sudden grumpiness.

"Dammit Rainbow. Stop falling for him."

"But he's so kind, loving and not to mention handsome."

"You promised yourself! Remember Thunderlane!! He'll only hurt you!!"

"But-"

"But nothing!! As lovely as he is, he'll only break your heart!!"

"He's already taken it."

"Urrg!! You stupid mare!! You are an assassin!! Don't let your feelings get in the way!!"

"Bu-

"Good!! Now get to work."

Rainbow sighed sadly before following Soarin into the damp, rotting library. Fighting with emotions while nopony noticed.
