Chapter 1

Load Full Story Next Chapter

It's been a few years since the coronation of Equestria's newest princess. Since the attempted assassination of that dear princess and a great leader. Since the war with assassins and the dark ones. Since the battle between two siblings. And since that great leader had moved on from a certain pony...a certain loved pony.

~~~
Over the last two years, Rainbow Miriam Dashery had changed. Her attitude had became harder. She became meaner and more stubborn. However, she was still a care-free spirit. Who loved the wind under feathers. The joy of flying and being with her friends. Since the battle with her brother and the ending of his dark organisation, Rainbow had become Princess Twilight's personal protector. Being the best of the best, Rainbow was unstoppable. Her skills as sharp as ever and her attitude to fight was better.
But, inside of this tough and brave shell, was an emotional wreck. Although she had told her dark past to the ones closest to her, many things still struck the pegasus.
Her parents. Her brother. Her fellow assassins murdered ruthlessly.
But one name stood out from the rest.
Thunderlane.
The mere mention or thought of him caused Rainbow to crack up inside. She would be on the verge of tears, but would quickly push them aside.
Her friends worried for her but Rainbow assured them that she was fine....
She was far from fine.
Although she had moved on, she still loved the grey coated pegasus stallion. She loved his cocky nature. She loved his attitude to life. She loved him.
And Rainbow hated it. The more she thought of him, the more she would cry. She had a way if losing the thought of him and that was practising. Practising her moves and skills. Becoming swifter and sleeker in her work. Occasionally, she would work herself till her body gave out. Until she was unable to move. She would train with her fellow assassins, making not only herself but the others better in their work.
Rainbow is a great leader, a great assassin and great friend.
A loyal friend.
And now she's tested her loyalty. Along with others.
~~~~~~

Just a simple stallion. A simple stallion with dreams. With dreams to be at the top.

"Ptff! Who am I kidding? I am at the top!"

Just a simple stallion who reached to the top with hard work and confidence. His skills perfect and fluent. And thanks to his captain. She was a brilliant captain. Although strict and bossy, she was still a loving leader. And she still cared for her team.

"Yeah, but she has a funny way of showing it." The ice blue stallion smirked to himself. Remembering the ordeal in the lunch hall. "That big mouth just never closes." The pegasus laughed to himself at his own joke.

"Hey! What's so funny about breaking your leg?!" A white mare yelled. "Cause I don't think it was funny, and me and my cousin know everything about being funny. And that was not funny." The pegasus huffed as she crossed her forelegs.

"O-oh. Sorry, Surprise. I wasn't laughing about that. Heck, I didn't I know what you were talking about." The stallion smirked. "No. I was laughing at something else, Surprise."

"At your own joke? Seriously Soarin. You are really stupid." A grey stallion teased. His grey and white curly hair bouncy as he made his remark.

"Oh shut up, Silver Lining." Soarin snapped. His emerald eyes burning with anger at his friend. "At least I have a sense of humour. You on the other hoof have a sense of humour staler than a month old piece of bread."

A bunch of 'oooo's filled the meeting room as the two stallions argued. The grey stallion glared at his old time friend, who was secretly cheering to himself.

"Woah woah woah. Let's not get into a fight here. Captain won't be too happy." A white haired mare fluttered above the two stallions. "Take a chill pill."

"Pttff. Spitfire needs to take a tub of them." The blue stallion sniggered.

"I need to take a tub of what?" A voice asked sternly. Fleefoot lowered herself to the ground and Surprise 'eep'ed as a yellow pegasus mare walked in. The two stallions gulped as the mare walked closer.
"Everypony, break time's over! Training now!" She yelled. A chorus of groans flooded the cloud room as the trainees and teachers walked off in different directions.
"Fleefoot. Surprise. Soarin and Silver Lining. Here now." The mare demanded.

The four ponies stared at each in fear before trotting up to the bossy mare.
"Yes Captain?"

"One of our rookies, our most top ranking rookie so far in the history of the Wonderbolts, has not returned to the academy. She's either gone missing or left without our consent. And it is our duty to find out why. Otherwhise, we lose another great flier." The captain stated as she walked back and forth in front of the line of four ponies.

"Question, ma'am. Who's the rookie we're searching for?" Fleefoot questioned.

"Ah. Rainbow Dash. Our best rookie flier. The only pony able to perform a sonic rainboom."

At the mention of her name, Soarin began melt like butter. Ahh. The wonderful Rainbow Dash. With a coat as blue as the clearest of skies. A slim and slender body. Hair with the six bright colours of the rainbow. And eyes like sparkling rose gems. Soarin fell for the pegasus mare at the biggest party of Equestria, The Gala. He had tried to talk to her, however, he was too shy. Either that or he was dragged away to talk to some rich snob. And the same happened at the Royal Wedding and the Coronation. He had danced with her and talked to her for a while, before she had to retreat to her bed chambers, offered by Princess Celestia. He never forgot the moment when they hugged at the Royal Wedding. Feeling her soft fur against his own. Embracing her warmth and her scent. She smelt like misty mornings and dew drops on grass.

"Hey Soarin. Equestria to Soarin." Surprise waved her white hoof in front of her stallion friend. Attempting to get him out of his daze.

"SOARIN!!" Spitfire yelled. Her voice harsh and very very very loud.

"Ah!!" The pegasus stallion jumped up at the force of the voice. "Sorry Spitfire. Just thinking."

Spitfire growled. She knew what he was thinking. She knew about his little crush on the prismatic pegasus. And she hated it. She loved Soarin. But she didn't want some stuck up whore taking him. As much as she wanted to ditch searching for the mare, she couldn't. It would be against the Wonderbolts to do so.
"Apparently, she lives in Ponyville. Along with Princess Twilight Sparkle. We will pay her visit today. So suit up and be quick."

"Yes, ma'am!" The four ponies saluted. While three of them fluttered off, Soarin skipped off. Happily thinking of thoughts of the one he loved. He would see her again.

Spitfire shook her head.
"Dammit Soarin." She trotted off in the opposite direction. Heading towards her small office.
