Okay,

So by now, most of you will have seen the "Cancelled" status of this fic. I wanted to give a it of an explanation of why, and where I am going with this. For those who find this tl;dr, I will be rebooting this story from scratch. More at the bottom.

First thing: I bucked up, pretty bad. I didn't plan this out anywhere near as well as I should have. My initial plans were to go from first date to growing relationship to a somewhat happily ever after scenario.

And the pacing so far ssssssssssssssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks! I didn't like jumping forward in time, and I originally had in mind that things would be heating up around the time of the birth of Sweet Bailey and whatever her name was. I should probably go back and check what her name was, but right now I am lazy (and supposed to be working!)

Second thing: Mixing serious issues, like Pinkie's infertility, racial prejudice against dragons, etc... just doesn't work well within a comedy. As per chapter 10, it was pretty much a drama-bomb, and I didn't like that I had to try and push it into the background in the same chapter. Like "okay, so this is a sad moment and integral to the story but lets push it back into the background so we can get back to the yuks!"

That was bad planning on my part, honestly.

And spoiler alert, for this fic and the next (don't look if you don't want to know): most of you already guessed how I was going to resolve the issue.

So, before you come at me with pitchforks and torches, you should know: I don't want to drop this story completely, nope nope nope!

As it is, the pacing isn't working for me. Mixing the drama and the comedy is not working. Chapter nine was kind of a reactionary chapter cobbled together from abandoned ideas to try and address some complaints people had in the comments section. And even that went too far in the opposite direction. It was a funny chapter, yes, and I would love it more if it weren't for the fact it didn't fit in the story.

How I started the story does not work within the expectations of what I have for the story, and the expectations that have been built up by you, the readers (though this is not your fault, as I was the one who built them.) This story is all over the place, due to lack of planning.

What I will be doing is cancelling this fic, and restarting from the ground up. I don't want to delete this fic, as there are some bits in here that I am absolutely proud of, and love. And honestly just deleting it reeks of trying to cover up my mistakes. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

I will be re-writing this, changing some of the elements and timing from this story. The new fic will start with SpikiePie already established. So you could consider this cancelled story as a cut-content prequel to the new story. But the new story will probably be more of a dramedy than an out-and-out comedy.
