Chapter 3: The canterlott trials
Previous ChapterI’d apologize for the long wait to update, but there is no one to apologize to. Besides I ways applying for the International program at a somewhat local high school. Don’t worry I’ll think of a better excuse next time.
I awoke with a start. What just happened? Where am I? WHAT HAVE I DONE!? The last bit I said aloud. The same minimum wage imperial guard from the day before, or at least I think it had been a day. “Prince Gemini, I always knew you were trouble, just never expected you to be a killer”. That son of a buck, he’s enjoying this! “You dumb flank didn’t you just hear me? What have I done?” “You sir just killed all twenty thousand of Applesboro’s residents” “well buck”. I didn’t even know what had happened, well I did but I couldn’t seem to accept it. The blue haired bastard kept his smug expression; he paced towards the cell I was in. Then I realized I could probably melt the bars keeping me in, or at least stomp out that social butterfly.
My approach to this was rational, or at least partially. I sent out an icy blast to try to weaken the bars before, I blew them into oblivion. Not likely, the bars were enchanted; they sent the blast hurtling towards me, with no time to react I basically took it like a bitch. This was the first, and definitely not the last time I would have a blast of energy hurled at me, as for what it felt like, well let’s just put it this way, after a certain point , it’s all just pain. The blast would have killed a normal pony, but earth ponies and Alicorns seem to be able to take more punishment than pegasi and unicorns. Never the less the ice spike went about two inches into my sternum. Sitting around whining wasn’t going to do much, so I took it out and healed myself. It really didn’t go as smoothly as that, to put it simply rabbits moving into oncoming traffic would have held scorn for me, considering the amount of fear I was feeling at the moment. Just a thought.
At this he laughed at me. “Hah! You’re known for your powers of destruction but you can’t even break out of a damn cell!” Panic overtook me. All I had ever practiced was destruction, I better be able to learn my way around these enchantments. If not I’m finished. I sat there staring down the bars that imprisoned me. Well not really looking but taking close notice to what was keeping from busting out. I tried to take a practical approach to this. On their side they had imprisoned me and would most likely tell me what I had been charged with only on execution day. They also had the knowledge to restrain my abilities to a certain degree. My advantage? They underestimate me.
It had taken me a few hours, but I figured out how the enchantment worked. Ironically it was a pentagram. In magic this is a very powerful symbol that can hold back almost anything. At least I think so, but I did know that it had a weak spot. If all pentagrams had one or how to take advantage of this point was unknown. You may be thinking that I am a creature of the devil with all this talks about pentagrams. Well let’s just put things this way, most people would associate magic with the devil. Pentagrams were a major part of magic, and therefore you humans thought it was bad. Not the first time your religions had blinded you from seeing what really counts. Not an uncommon thing for you filthy mortals. Sorry just lost my composure for a second.
Later I found out I was offered a fair trial. I knew that I would be judged guilty, but I might be able to learn something about what’s going on. So I accepted. I remember everything from that walk down to the courthouse. Especially the chains that bound me. They were simply hoofcuffs and some chains to bind my wings. They were made of iron but they were enchanted to block all magic, and for the victim only. I must compliment that the idea was very clever, but the pentagram design was the same. It had the same tiny flaw in it, but in a different area. This almost proved my suspicions that all pentagrams were designed to have a single flaw. Next is to figure out how to break it. I didn’t have enough time though; we approached the courthouse as I found this out. Ever seen a house of a junkie who had once been rich? It looked a bit like that, for those who don’t know what that looks like it was a big glorified shack, and if you’re so white even know white trash that you don’t even know what that looks like, then for you I’ll describe it in detail. It was a large area, mostly because of the multiple courtrooms that take part in this “fine” establishment. You may be surprised at the need for all of this, well…………….. Equestria was a bit of shit-hole before my sister took over. The war with the draconequi didn’t exactly help either. Anyway it was mostly wood. You know what a courtroom looks like? Well then you sure as hell don’t need a detailed description from me. Oh the joys of being bipolar, at least I think I am in, I’m probably just a lazy bastard.
I also see that I seem to have an audience with me. Why not give them a show to remember? The first things I noticed? The looks of scorn and contempt directed at me. Sure they have been inbred back country hicks but it was still unnerving. Then came the question, no not the “will you marry me?” question I’m far too repulsive for that. “Do even know what you have done?” This bit surprised me, but if there is one thing I have learned it is to show strength, never weakness. If my existence was recorded I personally think my next words would have made history, but my story was to bloody even for my sister to hold a copy in her private archives. I looked up to the stallion and said “I know what I have done, what I do not know is the additional charges placed on me out of fear” I recognize that face now, doctor whooves. This would not be the last time I would see this one, oh far from it. That hour glass cutie mark, the brown coat, (the fact that most would mistake him for a mare) and his black mane. He had also been one of the doctors present at my birth. Yes he was the one that thought I was a filly. I also saw the look on his face when I blew a chunk of the ceiling down. It immediately went from happy and lighthearted, to stern and calm. “You have been charged with mass murder, espionage, and treason” oh the joys of my first conspiracy.
At the time this befuddled me. What did he mean espionage and treason? I remember destroying the town, but not purposefully trying to destroy Equestria. “Espionage and treason? “So those are the extra charges you’ve placed on me” “say all you want we have hard evidence on the subject” “oh please we have all done something bad once or twice, so tell me. . . . What have you been up to lately?” This brought a look of discontent on his face, a look of stallion lost within himself. This colt has a weakness; he is hunted by his past. So how do I expose it? I may have a chance of coming free yet. With renewed vigor I spoke once again, “I can see you are no angel yourself, to further prove my point you have refrained from stating your name in a public area” “you may call me doctor whooves”. “Excuse me?” “Doctor Whooves. . . . you may refer to me with that name in our short time together”. I had only been talking to him and I was beginning to wear down on him, and I could see it. It was time to strike; well figuratively of course I technically couldn’t move a muscle. “You told me your name; I’ve become infamous to all of Equestria by this point so I guess we’re even, but I would much rather keep our fine conversation going. So I have another question, what is this hard evidence you speak of?” “A few letters to an anonymous source, a few spell books of how to pull this sort of thing off, and you’re the next city on your hit list.” “if you know so much than would you tell me of my plan? I’m sure that it will be an interesting experience for all of us.” “certainly, the spell that you have chosen is the draconian fire rune, it is a simple incantation even if tedious, the caster must surround the town with a dirt circle, but then they must charge it with energy and push outward to form a pentagram. Of course only a highborn could have the magical strength to perform this and your mother and father were nowhere near applesboro on the day of its destruction, and there were no reported draconequi to boot.”
Now let me clear a few things up, by “highborn” he refers to all the races that are semi mortal (I personally think a few in particular of each are semi-retarded) this means that they can live forever, but can be killed. Next up is the talk about pentagrams again. As I said before they are a very important part of magic. Their design is always similar, but the size of the rune and the energies you place in them determine the use of the spell. I also used this again because the author is uncreative.
That quadruped bastard is going to burn for that comment, but not yet I want to finish writing his story. Even if my dad keeps on borrowing my computers for PowerPoint presentations, and porn more than likely. Damn writers block, what now? Hmmm maybe I could . . . . . BY GOD THAT’S SOME NASTY PORN! Okay I think I’m ready to type again. Nothing like old saggy women to scare the living shit out of you.
“I see your point, there was no draconequis that set me up, and it was simply a failed experiment. I would also like to ask where you got the evidence of me committing these crimes” “we have several letters of orders directly from the draconequis emperor, found in your bed chambers”. “Present them, I want to see what you have forged to get an excuse to kill me” “very well but I think you will find these sufficient to our claims” He then trotted over to a large envelope and pulled out the “evidence” with his teeth. “These are the letters that you requested, as well as the evidence we hold against you. I am sure that it will be sufficient” “well are you going to eat them or let me read them?” Doctor Whooves then groaned then set the letters on the desk in front of me.
We are happy that you have seen the truth prince Gemini, the draconequi welcome you to our nation. Maybe with your help we can find peace, only one race will survive and I welcome your support. Now that we are done with simple pleasantries. I understand that you are very talented in the form of destruction. The draconequis have put far more effort into these magic’s than the pony folk, so we naturally have a few new tricks you will be interested in. You may or may not have heard of the draconian fire rune. It will take a few days to prepare but if you use it properly you can destroy entire cities. We have also sent you a scroll n how to use it. Once you’ve learned the incantation destroy the scroll by any means necessary. Then you will be ready for your first assignment. As you know Equestria is a large nation and it must be fed. One especially important township is Applesboro. It is home to approximately twenty thousand residents all of which are apple farmers. The draconian fire rune will destroy the town, render the land useless, and take out a major food source of Equestria. This will cripple the land and cause the monarchy to stumble. Then you must destroy the port city, trottingham. This will take out their ability to distribute supplies quickly; it will also give us a clear invasion path. Pursue these goals by any means necessary.
“No name? And the sender thought that they covered all pleasantries, how unfortunate to miss this one minor detail” “they did not include the name because the wish to remain anonymous” “well not entirely original in writing style but I suppose they get the plan across. Even with my knowledge of magic it would be difficult to pull this off” “well it was apparently to difficult”. Silence. After all this time spent trying to make myself look innocent I considered the task I was imprisoned for and admitted that I might be able to pull it off. “Well prince Gemini I understand the situation now, the jury knows what happened and so do I. I enjoyed my time with you, your skills in court are lacking but you can put up a good argument. Sadly this is a little more complex than to little fillies fighting over a cupcake. Judge, what do you have to say?” “I think we have all seen enough. It’s time to wrap this up.” Well I got my fair trial but not necessarily a long one. I know that it’s over now, no point in fighting it anymore. The guards took me back to my cell once the trial was finished. Leaving me only time to await the results that I knew would end me.
Authors note-you may be wondering why I didn’t post some April fool’s joke considering the date I posted this chapter. The reason being that my April fooling was spent dressing up like Adolf Hitler and walking around Jewish neighborhoods. The rest was spent in the hospital typing this up.
