Chapter 2: Probaly should've thought that one through
Previous Chapter Next ChapterThe previous chapter pretty much summed up the parts of my life when I was without a developed memory. Now why not switch to mine. I hope to keep it this way to; interrupting your own story is like giving yourself a rude gesture. Doesn’t work out to well does it? Any who lets disregard that little aberration and get out of these flashbacks.
I began to feel the warmth of sunlight on my muzzle; I appeared to have fallen asleep outside. Again. It wasn’t unusual to me anymore, not the first time I pushed my magical abilities to far. At this point I was wondering if I would get my cutie mark for slipping out of consciousness at the “ever most convenient times”. I could vaguely remember what I did, all was a blur. Something about a small firestorm, and holding it for too long.
Once my eyes opened, the evidence was all in favor of what I had seen. My Father had warned me about practicing my abilities and the steep penalties if it got out of control. Looks like I was going to have to bribe the imperial guards to turn a blind eye yet again, or fix up the part of the maze and receive the benefit of the doubt. No use lying sprawled out on the ground for much longer, besides if I didn’t everypony would be able to smell the drool on my face form a mile away. I was sore from “sleeping” on the ground, so I started stretching until I felt the satisfying cracks of my neck, spine, and shoulders. I stood up on my four legs, turned three hundred sixty degrees and prepared to clean up. At first a slight red glow came from my horn. That obviously wasn’t enough so I increased the intensity, and my body instantly was engulfed in a bright red aura. Now came the technical part. I had to piece together all the statues, and then bind the molecules together. The next part was a little simpler, Find all the pieces of dirt and put them back in the crater I formed, and then stimulate the growth of grass after placing in the seeds. This left me with a mild nose bleed. I raised a hoof and wiped it from my muzzle. Close enough. It seemed to be mid-morning, so I stretched my wings and left towards the palace grounds.
I wasn’t expecting anypony in particular to be there, and I was right. Just some minimum wage imperial guard who trained for ten years to get the world’s most boring job, walking in circles, standing still, and trying to look intimidating. I wasn’t in the mood to talk so I changed my course to the roof. Once I landed I expected to have a peaceful trot to the pantry, which by the way had almost everything. The exception being pegasi, unicorns, earth ponies, and of course alicorns. I thought to have dodged a fireball but I was wrong. The guard was able to teleport and he arrived directly in front of me. The stallion was wearing brass armor, had a white mane, and-oh hell they all look alike. Still I almost held pity towards him; they all trained for ten years to get the honor of walking around some big building that reminds them how poor they are. He was first to speak, “where were you last night?” “I think the real question you should be asking me is what I was doing”. The guard then gave a sigh, “it’s bad enough I get to see some twelve year old colt towering over me, can you at least just answer the question?”As you may have realized I don’t demand the same respect from the guards as my parents. Never really saw the point of it. “Fine, fine I was in a secluded area practicing magic.” “I’m almost surprised, at your age most ponies actually have friends.” Ouch. Part of being royalty is keeping a straight face, especially when insulted, obviously my reply held different emotions than the ones on my face. “You seemed to have paid attention to “friends” to much, if not you would have a respectable job.” This seemed to have struck gold, he turned away and then teleported off the roof. I never really got the turning around part if he was just going to disappear in the first place.
This being over with, I jumped down from the roof and made way to the kitchen. There were many wonderful different smells coming from the area. I took an apple. Usually I would have stayed to eat but I had plans for today. I then teleported to applesboro, the name gives away the whole point of explaining things so let’s skip that bit. My intentions? Testing a new spell utilizing all three elements of destruction. Many have considered this but it was very delicate work. In theory at least. Applesboro was on the other side of Equestria so the time zone was set back a few hours, compared Canterlot. I started at a slow trot, going around town trying to find something secluded that I could fire at. That part was easy enough, found a dead tree near the edge of an orchard. I didn’t know how the big the blast radius was so I set up a strong ward in front of me for good measure. For hours I tried to get the elements to form properly. By this time some local earth ponies had gathered to watch. After all it’s not every day that royalty shows up unannounced with the intention to vandalize your property. Eventually I was able to get them to stick. Usually the fire and frost would collide and make the whole thing fizzle. The solution was simple, use the lightning as a binding agent. All together I guessed that the power would be multiplied. Oh how wrong I was.
Once the spell was ready I fired. Just in case I increased the wards strength, and waited for the spell to hit. All I remember about that moment was a bright light. As well as intense pain. Once I felt this I made the ward as strong as I could control, and made it form a sphere around my body. I couldn’t hold it for much longer. I teleported one hundred miles away from Applesboro. It took a very powerful restoration spell to heal myself. I looked at my flank and noticed it was a morbid mix of bone, and muscle. Skin completely burned off. Once I saw the flesh rapidly reform, I noticed I still had a blank flank. I then looked towards Applesboro and realized that I had much bigger things to worry about. There was a huge mushroom cloud where applesboro used to be. Then I saw the incoming pulse of energy released by the monster of explosion. It reached some trees near the town. They were torn from their roots only before disintegrating. By the time I noticed what was happening it was too late. The force of the pulse knocked me off my hooves. I slammed into a boulder afterwards. My final memories of this moment were my eyes closing. Closing on the second sun.
