Chapter 1: Touchdown

As I manuvered my small craft downward with the last of my sanity, I cried at what had happened. No tears came, because I no longer had tear glands, but sobs wracked my body as I thought about what they had did to me, my family, my planet. As I slumped to the floor, insanity gently beckoned to me, offering respite from the pain. But I was too dangerous, too deadly. With one last effort, I pushed the button that would end all of my suffering one and for all. Self destruct. As the thrusters shut off and red warning lights began pulsing in the cabin, I lay back and smiled, as the last of my sanity left me.

Twilight Sparkle grimaced. This camping trip had been a bad idea from the start, and SHE had to stay for the whole thing while Rarity was at home, all because Rarity had a cold! I really must make a little bottle of the cold. Next time everyone wants to go camping, I can just back out without hurting Pinkie's feelings! But in her heart she knew that she could never do that. Pinkie was her best friend, so if she wanted to have a camping party, a camping party they would have. As she resigned herself to a night outdoors, a tremendous flash lit the sky, followed by a huge shockwave that ripped through the evening sky. The ponies all stared in awe as thousands of pounds of sonic blasts smashed through the clouds in a blue, high energy shockwave, while letting out a deafening blast of noise. As if to act as the grand finale, a large piece of derbis fell through the sky and smashed into the ground just a couple hundred feet away. The long silence that followed was eventually punctuated by Rainbow Dash.
"That" she said in an awestruck tone, "was the coolest thing I have ever seen!"
As the group slowly approached the smoldering heap, there was a tiny movement. They all surrounded the crater to see... A large black pegasus. As his eyes fluttered open and saw the ponies clustered curiously around him, he did the one thing nopony was expecting.
He howled.
He howled at the moon and the stars, at the faraway planets, and the nearby ponies. He howled in fear and pain, in anger and loss.
He howled in a collage of all the emotions running through his head, and until his broken mind was completely empty.
He howled to forget.
As the sun set over Ponyville, and the ponies started to haul him back to Ponyville, he finally fell silent, succumbing to a uneasy sleep.

When the ponies saw the black pegasus, they immediately started attempting to lift him out of the crater he was stuck in. As he started to howl, they stopped long enough to have a quick huddle.
"Guys, I'm not sure if we should bring him back to Ponyville. He sounds pretty unstable." said Rainbow Dash, shuddering at the unearthly sound of the howling.
"But what if he needs our help?" asked Fluttershy, trying to be brave. "He could need medical attention!"
Twilight decided to take charge. "All in favor of helping him?". Everypony but Dash put up their hooves.
"I'll help." grumbled Dash. "But if he kills somepony it's your fault!"
And with that they put the now-silent pony on their shoulders and trotted back to Ponyville.
"Well," muttered Twilight, "that's one way to get out of going camping."

Chapter 2: Initiate Contact

I felt groggy as I awoke, my whole body aching. I appeared to be in a hospital of some sort. The lens in my eye suddenly lit up and alerted me that a class Omega-five security breach had been attempted while I was asleep. That could only mean one thing. Surgery. I started to panic, thinking that I had been found out, but then relaxed when I heard a snippet of conversation from the next room.
"He needs surgery, but every time I take a knife to him he zaps me with a ton of electricity! I don't know what to do!"
Apparently my body decided to take matters into it's own hands. Yay. Now, to the second question. Why was I alive? I know I pressed the self destruct button several miles above the ground! Why didn't I die!?! Just then the nurse came back in. I just had time to register her before I saw the scalpel, and something clicked in my mind.
Knife.
Blood.
Kill.

The poor nurse barely had time to react as I jumped on top of her, a dark, glowing sword sliding through a slot in my skin into my hooves. Wait. Hooves?!? I switched out of elimination mode to see the ponies who had rescued me staing at me in shock. Then I realized that I was holding a dark-bladed sword, standing on top of their nurse with red, firey eyes. I facepalmed as they started to back away. "Never fails, does it?"
I got up off of the nurse, and the blade retracted into my arm. Leg. Whatever. I somehow knew that my eyes had reverted back to their usual brown, and I attempted to put my hooves up to show that I meant them no harm. What really happened is that I fell flat on my face. Suddenly, the pink one started laughing, and although she was quickly shushed by her friends, it was a good sign.
"W-what's your n-name?" stuttered the purple one, clearly nervous about the sudden outburst with the nurse.
"You may call me Enigma." I said, picking myself up off the ground. "Where is this place?". The purple one was about to answer when two Pegasus guards burst through the door, panting heavily.
"We have been authorized to transport you to Canterlot. Will you come quietly?" asked the first guard, clearly unenthusiastic about forcing a demented pegasus to meet the princess. The beast inside me growled angrily, but I did my best to put on a convincing smile. "I'll come quietly." I said with a quick smile in the direction of my rescuers, who seemed relieved that it wouldn't come to a fight. I stepped inside the royal carriage, and it started to head in the direction of the capital city I saw from orbit. I dozed quietly as the carriage flew off into the sunset.
