Chapter 6

Soarin and Rainbow Dash flew through the skies at speeds not typically known to ponykind. Rainbow heard Scootaloo's quick and uneven breathing fade into long even pulls. She had either passed out, or fallen asleep this worried her she didn't know which and one of them could be particularly dangerous. She quickened her pace, Soarin quickly matched hers. Each second was one more second wasted as Town Hall, Sweet apple acres, and bits of the Ever-free scrolled past below them. Finally, after what seemed like eternities they arrived at Rainbow's home. Rain pelted their coats and dripped to the cloud they sprinted inside. The warmth from the inside hit them like a wall, although a comforting one, it was a shock.

"Towels, NOW!" Rainbow instructed. But Soarin was way ahead of her, already dashing upstairs to the linen closet where they kept all of their towels. Scootaloo still sat on Rainbows back. Scootaloo was so tiny, Rainbow barely noticed the extra weight. Before Rainbow could say Sweet Apple Acres Soarin was back down and balancing a large stack of towels on his muzzle. He sat them down on a nearby table and Rainbow Dash cautiously sat Scootaloo on a couch. Scootaloo shivered heavily from the lack of warmth that Rainbow was providing. Soarin jumped into action, swaddling her in a towel and rubbing vigorously to dry her soaked coat. Scootaloo was awake now. A smile spread across her face, Must be feeling warmer Rainbow thought. Soon Scootaloo's coat was dry and Rainbow replaced the towel with a warm blanket from her bed. Soarin sat her in front of the fire Rainbow had going. Rainbow was making a cup of hot milk to drink (I would have said chocolate but chocolate kills horses soooo yah) to warm Scootaloo up.

"I still want to talk to you about what you know." Rainbow whispered to Soarin who had moseyed his way into the kitchen.

"Look as soon as she's asleep in the guest room, i'll tell you." Soarin replied with an uneasy tone. Rainbow poured the milk into a mug she grabbed out of the cabinet. She grabbed the mug and walked it over to Scootaloo who was already fast asleep in front of the fire.

"I wonder the last time she had a good sleep was. She fell asleep way too quickly for any normal circumstances." Rainbow stated. "I don't think I could have done anything differently." She thought. Rainbow scooped up Scootaloo and walked her up the stairs to the guest room she kept ready for unexpected visitors, such as this. Soarin who was following close behind, flew over Rainbow and opened the door for her and her passenger. He then pulled away the covers to reveal the mattress which Rainbow gently placed Scootaloo onto. Soarin pulled the covers back over the small orange Pegasus. Rainbow turned on a night light she kept in there as safe keeping for it, it was a limited edition Wonder-bolt light. Soarin walked out of the guest room and up to their bedroom. Rainbow Dash was following but before exiting the door frame, she stole a glance at the small Pegasus now sleeping in her home.

"Goodnight little buddy" Rainbow Dash whispered. She walked out of the room and up the stairs to her room. Soarin didn't even look up when she walked in the room. He studied the floor as if he were a quality manager looking for chips or un flushed nails (Flushed like as in flat to a surface or something like that). Rainbow trotted into the room and sat down next to Soarin. She put her head on his shoulder, letting the warmness spread through her cheek. They sat there for a minute neither pegasus saying anything, just staring and thinking, reflecting on what just happened. Finally Soarin spoke up.

"I guess now is the best time to tell you. I didn't plan to, I thought you may think less of me. That you may lose the look in your eyes every time you look at me, like I was the best thing since sliced bread, with that look of admiration that drives me to do what i do. But it looks like, i don't have much of a choice." He trailed off, eyes glassy staring at nothing in particular. A single tear escaped from his eye, and rolled lazily down his cheek. Rainbow took her head off of his shoulder and locked eye contact with him. He looked away and sighed,

"It all started 5 years ago…"

*FLASHBACK* (Yes I'm doing this again)

The crowd roared with thunderous applause as Soarin and Spitfire flew through their quadruple loop nose dive routine. Pegasus ponies whistled and clapped, unicorns flashed their horn lights and screamed as loud as they could, earth ponies stomped their feet and stood up. Finally, Soarin launched into the finale of the show, a lap around the arena while barrel rolling the whole time. Eying the crowd he found his starting point, a blue pegasus with a rainbow mane, He had no idea that that pegasus would be his future wife, but the vibrant colors of her mane just called out to him. He dived straight at her pulling up at the last second, sending loose papers and food wrappers everywhere. He began flipping continuously until he spotted the rainbow maned pegasus and pulled up, dizzy as ever, and landed in the cloud that was placed in the center, precisely for this purpose. Spitfire thanked the crowd for showing up and that meant his cue to fly back to the locker room. While the world spun around him, he groggily flew back to the small, guarded opening that lead to the wonderbolts locker room. Spitfire quickly flew in after him. The other wonderbolts had already left to sign memorabilia and take photos with fans. The world finally stopped spinning so Soarin made his way to a bench. He layed down and rubbed his aching temples. He closed his eyes as he attempted to hold down a cherry pie that kept threatening to show its face to the world again. Finally, when the cherry pie gave up and his head didn't feel like exploding, he opened his eyes and was shocked to see no face other than the lovely spitfire he had come to love.

"Hey Sleepy head." Spitfire cooed.

"I wasn't asleep! I was trying to keep myself from puking on you. It obviously worked." Soarin replied defensively.

"Whatever! Wanna hit the bar here? I hear good reviews about the ones in Las Pegasus." Spitfire murmured through gentle gnaws on his ear.

"When was the last time i turned down a highly rated bar?" Soarin replied with a mischievous grin on his face. While she wasn't looking he briefly eyed her flank before he could get caught. Spitfire got off of Soarin and allowed him to sit up. He looked around to let his vision adjust. When the world came into focus he lazily flapped into the air.

"Lead the way Spitty." Soarin replied dreamily. Spitfire took flight and lead the way. It was a short flight. They only had to cross a road and two large buildings to spot the grand entrance to the bar. The two wonderbolts alighted on the ground and walked in together, their flanks and manes touching. The bar was practically empty except for a few drunk unicorns dancing away on the dance floor. They located the bar and quickly trotted over, looking forward to an ice cold drink after a hard, tiring show.

"Two shots of whiskey please." Spitfire ordered. The bartender recognized the two ponies immediately and rushed to get their drinks. As soon as the bartender placed the glasses onto the counter they were guzzled down. Spitfire ordered two more, then another two, soon they were on their 8th. The world spun and shook in Soarin's vision as he placed the owed bits on the counter and stumbled off of the seat. Spitfire did the same and put her head onto his neck.

"You know there's a motel next door." Spitfire said flirtatiously.

"We should go. Get sleep." Soarin mumbled. The two stumbled out of the bar and clumsily walked over to the motel next door, while almost trampling a small filly who was walking past with her head buried in a book levitated with her green unicorn magic. They made it to the front desk and somehow managed to purchase a room key. With lots of help from staff, they found their room and collapsed onto the floor. They made their way to the bed and looked at each other hungrily.

(Viewer discretion is advised for the next part, the next part i will put in bold so if you don't want to read it you don't have to. You'll know when it's over.)

"We should take that uniform off you." Soarin mentioned hungrily.

"Only if you take of yours" Spitfire replied flirtatiously. The two ripped off their uniforms and immediately after launched into a long and passionate kiss. Their arms wrapped around each other's bodies Soarin's hands ventured down to her flank and her hands ventured down to his lower abdomen till she found what she was looking for. She gently grasped a hold of the "key to the treasure chest" and rubbed it slowly and softly. She broke away from the passionate kiss and turned around presenting her "Treasure chest". Soarin immediately gave in to his alcohol influenced instincts and began to "open the treasure chest" soon the "key broke" and began to leak the "sea water" that was trapped inside. Spitfire gasped and moaned quietly. Soarin panted and sweated profusely. Soon both were too tuckered out to continue so they collapsed on the sheets and fell into a deep slumber.

(For those of you who did not want to read the "different" part of my story, it's safe for you to read now.)

Soarin waked up at 2AM with violent nausea plaguing his stomach and a raging headache. He sprinted as fast as he could to the bathroom and quickly placed his head into the bowl as everything since last week's lunch came to say hello again. Finally when he sure he was done, he flushed the toilet and sat there on the bathroom floor. His skin was pale and sickly and sweat drenched his body. He dragged his way to the sink where he brushed his teeth with the generously given toothbrush and toothpaste that were left by the hotel staff. With his mouth finally tasting like mint and not stomach acid, he crawled back to bed. Soarin passed out cold and was vaguely aware of Spitfire leaving the bed about two hours later.

(Flash forward 2 months, Spitfire is sick with vomiting, exhaustion, and frequent urination. Canterlot hospital after Spitfire had vomited all morning.)

"Well doc?" Asked Soarin nervously as the brown stallion went over the charts for a 6th time. Spitfire was barely strong enough to keep her eyes open.

"Mhhmm… I see… Yes," Mumbled the doctor "Aha! I have come to a conclusion! You see Spitfire here, is Pregnant-"

'SHE'S WHAT!?" Soarin screamed. Fear and anger mixed behind his eyes. Spitfire was now fully attentive with the newly delivered news.

"She's pregnant sir. No two ways about it. Congratulations! I bet you can't wait to see your beautiful little girl in 7 months! Aw nuts, i spoiled the gender. Oh well, you would find out eventually anyway. Have a good day!" Said the doctor as he quickly exited the room. Spitfire began to sob.

"This will ruin us Spitfire! What do we do?!" Soarin rambled nervously

"Well we could always abort it…" Spitfire mentioned casually.

"WE COULD WHAT!?" Screamed Soarin as rage coursed through his veins.

"We could always abort it. We just take it out of me and bada bing bada boom we walk away scot free. Just like none of this ever happened." Spitfire replied, showing no reactions to Soarin's sudden outburst of anger.

"NO. We are NOT having her aborted. I'll raise it i'll take care of it, but don't you DARE let a doctor take ANY unborn Filly or Foal that belongs to me out of you!" Soarin screamed. His rage seemed to fill the room and made breathing a harder thing to do.

"Alright, fine!" Spitfire said out of fear. She crouched down in the chair, the fear in her eyes gleaming.

"By the way, this, whatever we have, is done. The fact that you could even THINK about such a thing disgusts me." Soarin uttered, with pure disgust.

"FINE! I NEVER LIKED YOU ANYWAY!" Spitfire growled as loud as she could. Soarin stormed out the door and left the pregnant mare to fend for herself. "She would just throw the life away of MY daughter! Huh! We'll see about that!" Soarin thought angrily.

7 Months Later at Canterlot Hospital Delivery Room

Soarin stood outside in the waiting room waiting to hear about his daughter. He paced nervously, hoping for good news. "What good news could there be! It's been 4 hours! How long does it take for a kid to be born!?" Soarin thought. Suddenly a nurse came to the waiting room and told Soarin that his daughter had been born without any complications and was perfectly healthy despite having slightly under developed wings, but that was common in fillies born on exact due dates, filly's wings for some reason took longer to grow. Soarin rushed into the delivery room and saw his daughter sitting in a basket next to a passed out Spitfire. With the doctor's approval and a groggy signature from Spitfire, the filly was signed into Soarin's custody. He finally took a good look at the sleeping baby. It's coat was a bright orange and her short mane was a deep purple, like his mother's. He took her home and bought several bottles of formula for the baby, since he didn't have a real mother's milk.

1 Week later Adoption Clinic

Soarin couldn't take it anymore, the sleepless nights, the poopy diapers, the incessant loud crying. He just gave up. He signed the right to let the adoption clinic take custody of her and he handed over the baby, kissing it on the forehead one last time. He knew he would miss it, but it would be neglected and hurt in his custody, he couldn't take care of it on his own, and he had no one to raise it with him. He got up from the desk and walked out the doors of the clinic. Tears freely flowing from his eyes, he didn't try to stop them, he only knew that he did the right thing, he saved the baby from a life it shouldn't have, a life of neglect. He flew home and spent the rest of the day crying in his room. He didn't care if it made him seem "unmanly or not cool" he just got rid of his only daughter because he couldn't take care of her right, and he felt like shit.

End Flashback

He told Rainbow Dash the whole story, Rainbow didn't interrupt once and didn't comment on the tears that fell from his eyes at certain points or how he seemed to loathe the anger that coursed through him at certain areas. Soarin sobbed uncontrollably, it hurt him so much that her life might have been better with him and that he made a terrible mistake. He sobbed because by telling Rainbow this story she would never love him again and she would be stuck like Spitfire but by her own choice. Rainbow blinked at the wall, taking the story in. Rainbow took a deep breath in to say something. Soarin braced himself for the worst, preparing the statement of, I still love you even though you no longer love me. The next words that came out of Rainbow's lips terrified Soarin, even more than he already was.

Author's Note: Hey! Thanks for reading all of this! I know that this was a long chapter but i plan to make all of them like this and I hope to have time (and inspiration) to write them more often. I hope you all like this chapter and understand the cliffhanger that i left you on! If you have any suggestions don't hesitate to message me directly or leave a review. Ill also take recommendations for other MLP fanfic ships. I would love to do an apple jack one but i don't have any GUYS to ship her with. (I have nothing against gay/lesbian love, i just can't write in that style because i would screw it up. I don't want to screw it up for you guys so ill leave that to the pros.) If you want to check out Fluttershy's point of view, check out my other fanfic, Fluttering Away a fluttercord fanfic! If you want Twilight's POV im moving her story to My account! It will be called, Steel Strong Love. I will be updating that one next so look for that one! Thanks so much for reading my Rambling.

Keep Reading, Keep Imagining!
