Chapter 31: Home

I don't know anymore… I just don't know…

I have long since set my cage so that light no longer entered, just leaving me in the darkness. Not that it really mattered weather there was light or dark, it was always the same. The same landscape, nothing changing, but I found comfort in the darkness.

'That is because it hides you, it hides you from the truth.' The voice entered my head. It always enters my head at its own desire.

"Shut up Seras," I said to the voice, she tends to get on my nerves sometimes. "You don't know any more than I do."

'That is true, that I know no more than you, but I understand it better,' she said, her voice trying to sound superior. 'For so long you have been alone, for so long you have been abandoned, and yet you refuse to accept it.'

"And you know fully well why I don't accept it!" I yelled in the darkness. "I know how it is supposed of played out. My girls will stop him, and till then I shall wait here."

'Ah, once again you call them 'your girls', and yet they are not. And even if they do stop them, you know fully well that no mention of a father is mentioned anywhere in those books of yours,' She countered. 'You are destined to be forgotten!'

"I told you to shut up!" I yelled back at her. "I trust them, they wouldn't forget me…" I fall back in silence, as my mind fills with doubt. Seras had a tendency to do this to me, but I recover eventually.

I sat back in the darkness, and just let the time go by again, like I have done so many times so. I trust my girls, so I shall wait…

I hear laughter? My head perk's up from the new sound, before I lower it again.

I'm hearing laughter now? My mind is just going crazy here.

Before I could go back into the darkness again, my cage was shaken as some force hit it. What the? The cage was hit again, and this time with a force enough to roll it so that light entered again from the hole. I recover from the sudden roll, and turn to face the hole to see what happened, but I saw a pair of eyes already there.

They eyes were odd to say the least, they had purple irises, but a swirl of white inside of them. They eyes then quickly left and I heard a young voice.

"Oh oh oh, I found you, I found you!" The filly's voice said from outside. I look out of my cage and saw the filly jumping around celebrating to of found me. "I knew daddy was right!" The filly's appearance was quite odd. Here mane was a swirl of colors matching her eyes, and her fur was a light pink.

The filly then turned back to my cage, and stared into my eyes. "I was told to come here and find you, and I did!" She said to me, her voice still full of excitement. She then came back to my cage, and started to push my cage. "Don't worry; I'll get you out of here. Discord said so!"

Discord? I wondered. What is he planning? And who is this?

Before I could question the filly, I felt my cage suddenly go into a free fall. The cage shuddered as it hit numerous things as it fell, and it smashed once it was hit by one finally strong strike.

I ended up on my back after that tumble and looked around me, and then up.

"She push me… from the top of the pillar…" I said, and could hear Seras laugh in the back of my head.

"Wow, you really are strong to be fine after that!" I turned to see the filly standing next to me. How did she get down here so quickly? "I'm Screwball, and daddy told me to find you!" She said happily, and glomped me.

"You daddy? I thought you said…" Then what she said clicked in my head. "Discord had a child?" I asked, and looked down at the odd pony before me.

"Yep, and you are my granddaddy!" She said, still hugging me. "So I'm not alone anymore!" Alone?

"What do you mean alone?" I asked, my mind still trying to process everything after so long in being isolation.

"Yeah…" Screwball said, a bit of sadness in her voice, before hugging me tighter. "Daddy is gone now, but now I got you."

I look down at her, with sadness in my own eyes. I wanted Discord gone, but I didn't realize that he had done this… I never knew he even had one…

"Well then," I said, and looked around us. "I guess we should get out of here, it is a little… depression," I said, and Screwball jumped up on my back, a look of excitement on her face.

As we walked to get out of here, I decided to get some answers I need to know.

"So Screwball," I said, getting her attention. "I am a little out of date here; can you tell me what is going on out there?"

"Hmm," Screwball pondered, her face screwed up in concentration. "Well, it too me a long time to find you, but when I left these two princesses came to challenge daddy. Daddy decided that since they came to have some fun with him, he told me to come find my granddaddy and break his cage," Her face took on a look of sadness. "I really should of left when he told me to, but I wanted to see my daddy have some fun, but those princesses cheated, and used some sparkly stone to turn him into stone…"

"Oh… I guess it must have been tough seeing that, and yet you still came to find me." I said, as my mind was organizing this with how history had already played out.

"Yeah… I took my 3 years to find you, but now I did, and I have a family again!" Screwball said, and hugged my neck.

3 years? I question, my mind stopping, but my body continued walking.

'I tooold you,' Seras mocked in my head. 'They stopped him 3 years ago, and yet you remained captured. And the very one who ordered your rescue is the one who imprisoned you in the first place! They forgot about you, accept it.'

I ignored Seras, my mind was still reeling. 3 years? And they stopped Discord when they were adults by the books. How long have I been in here?

"Screwball, hold on," I said to her, even though she was still holding on my neck. I flare my wings, and started flying away from that horrid place, and flying to… I don't even know anymore.

xXx

It took three weeks to get back, I had to stop every so often to take care of Screwball, and she was still mortal. And I did what I could to comfort her, for we both needed someone right now. I need to be around others after so long alone, and she needed the same.

When we arrived, I had to ask around about the Princesses, and many looked at me odd for asking about them. I was surprised none of them noticed who I was, given my status a few years back.

What the ponies told me of were of Celestia and Luna, no longer Celia and Star. The ponies continued to tell me of how they were their rightful rulers for stopping Discord. Whenever I asked of Discord, ponies refused to answer.

The two of us arrived at a castle that I knew quite well, it was where I first appeared: The Castle of The Two Sisters.

We stood nearby, both of us just staring at it, Screwball in amazement, and me looking at it in worry.

"Screwball, I need you to stay here for a moment," I told her, and she gave me no reply, and continued to look at the castle. I walked towards the castle of the wall, and phased through it. I continued to wonder the castle, go through the wall, searching.

I finally stopped when I found them, Celia and Star, and they looked happy. I looked down at them from the ceiling I phased through, and continued to watch. They were grown up… they were grown up, and able to make their own happiness now.

I debated in my head weather I should show them myself, but I decided against it… they didn't need me, not anymore. I didn't know if it was because if they forgot me or not, but I will accept whatever as long as they are happy.

I left the castle, and walked back to Screwball, still looking at the castle.

"Come on Screwball," I said, getting her attention this time as she looked up at me. "I have nothing to do here anymore," I said, and sent a smile down to her. "Where do you want to go?" I asked as we went off to travel, and try to live and forget.

(Major Time Jump)

I look down at my paws, not use to the odd form I am in. Throughout the years, I have taken many forms of many races, but this was my first time as a timber wolf.

I lay in wait within the Everfree forest, near the castle. I have a role I must play, and so I shall, no matter the pain it will bring me.

As if to answer my need, a branch swished through the bushes I was in, give me my que. I pick up the branch with my mouth and step out of the bushes and growl convincingly at the one before me, Daniel.

"Easy boy, I didn't mean to hit you," He said, holding up his hands, but I stalked closer to him. Is it bad that I like tormenting myself?

I sit down before him, and place the branch down, nudging it towards him.

I watched as myself picked up the branch and threw it, and I played the role of being a playful dog, and brought it back.

"Good wolf?" He said to me, his eyes still unsure of what to do. "Um, do you know a place I can rest?" I give him a bark, and walk to the forest. I gave another quick bark when I see that he isn't following. "Oh sorry, I'm coming" He said and ran after me.

I led him deeper and deeper into the forest, taking him to our finally resting place.

"Thank you wolf" He said to me, as I showed him the cave. I turned and left, never revealing that I had lead myself into the cave of real Timberwolves, but he will find that out later.

xXx

So many years have passed since I was last here, I thought as I looked down at Ponyville. It has been what? A millennia since I have been here? How many lives have I had to reach here?

I looked around at the place that had been my goal to reach for so many years, and so much hardship to be here, but I still had thing to get done. I turn to look at my companion for this, and she was a little nervous about it all.

"Spitfire, calm yourself," I said to her. "You will do this perfectly." But she continued to look nervous.

"Sorry, Spirit," Spitfire apologized. "It is just hard to believe that all of it was true."

Ah yes, I had to let her in on this a while back. I smile at the memories from back then.

I had taken the role of teaching the Wonderbolts for a while, and ended up teaching her and her friends how to fly like champions. I do feel some guilt about the thunderstorm training on them, but Spitfire did forgive me when I told her everything.

I handed Spitfire a cloak to cover herself and let her go down into the town, she had a message to give myself

Once she was gone from sight, I pulled out a red book, one of my own creation with some of StarSwirl's old style magic on it. I walked away from my spot and headed to the postage office.

It was almost done.
