It has been 3 months since I found Fluttershy. Honestly, I think I could be doing a better job taking care of her. I have been teaching her how to read a bit. I'm a pretty smart person, so I hope I can teach her as well as I can. I haven't been much of a parental figure towards her, more like a caretaker. I feel like I want to change that, but I'm not quite sure.
I know she won't be here forever, but she will for a long time. I might as well enjoy it while she's younger.
Today I watched Fluttershy play with a small toy I had given her. I was thinking she might need her own space. That was when I realized I was a parent for her. I just wasn't showing it. I called her up onto the big bed that I slept on. She hopped on my lap and looked up at me.
"Fluttershy," I said. "How would you like to have your own room?" smiled up at me and said: "I would wove it!" She was getting the hang of talking, but couldn't pronounce big words and sometimes muffed up her speech.
I smiled and set her down on the floor. My eyes went to my closet. It was kind cluttered, but I kept old stuff there. I cleaned off the top of one of my old dressers, leaving room for a small bed. Fluttershy watched from the door frame, I told her to help me. It was good I was making her room among old stuff, she would have plenty to do.
I removed two excess pillows from my bed, making them into a makeshift bed. One pillow worked as the mattress, while the other an actual pillow. I looked through the cabinets where my parents keep my bedsheets. I found an old blanket of mine, with colorful chickens all over it. I used this for her sheets.
I took a Toto stuffed animal [selected by Fluttershy] and put it in the upper right corner of the bed, against the wall. Then, I took an old Winnie The Pooh picture and hung it up over her bed. I then took a leprechaun dog toy as well as her favorite squeaky toy and put them on the the bed as well. There were many other toys to keep her happy as well.
Fluttershy's room was finished by night. I tucked her in bed and kissed her goodnight. The tired filly yawned. " 'g night".
