My Little Avengers: Friendship is Marvelous
Chapter 5: MLA: FiM Ch 3 preview 2
Previous Chapter Next ChapterHi. First off, I want to apologize for not being able to meet my previous deadline for a Ch update. Life got in the way, and by the time I had moments to spare, the inspiration to write just left. I'm only now leaving a small preview of what I DID manage to come up with a few months ago in response to a series of reviews left by a user simply known as "Guest." They may just be by a fourteen year old middle-schooler who still thinks the word "retarded" is cool and who simply wants to troll someone, (Though you're about six or seven years late to THAT party, pal.) but I felt it was a good motivator to show that I still care about this series. I do legitimately want to continue it as I believe a series like this could have potential as, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's a rarely untapped well of possible story ideas. That's why I'm asking for help from you guys on continuing this series. If you have spare time on your hands, a knack for putting together stories and want to help keep this series going, PM me. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
And just to show you guys how much help I'll need putting this together, here's a line-up of the future stories to come in what I'm now dubbing the "Marvel/MLP Literary Universe" or the MMLPLU... yeah, I know it needs work.
My Little Avengers: Friendship is Marvelous
Rainbow Dash and Iron Man: Extremis Rising
Twilight Sparkle and Thor: The Dark World
Applejack and Captain America: The Fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. (No I REFUSE to call it "The Winter Soldier" when he's not even the main bad guy or even in half of the movie. C'mon, Marvel, that's just dumb.)
Spike and the CMC: Guardians of the Galaxy
My Little Avengers: Age of Ultron.
And now a quick preview of what's to come in Ch 3. Don't expect a confirmed release date for this one. I'm not sure WHEN I'm gonna feel like writing more with school just around the corner. Like I said, if you want to help, PM me for details.
Enjoy!
Loki sat in the sealed glass cell for what felt like an eternity. Even longer now, it seemed.
Gone, everything was gone. His army, his scepter with its even more precious gem, his plan for revenge on Odison and now his means of escape; all gone thanks to the unlikely band of warriors, soldiers, monsters, spies and inventors that, despite his careful plan to destroy them from within, somehow managed to turn the tide against him. He would be lucky if he was sentenced to live out his remaining years in a cell not unlike the one he sat in now, however many he still had left that considering his already extended lifespan. And to think it all could have been avoided had he gotten the respect and privileges that had been denied of him in favor of his sibling. Such thoughts soon brought to his mind a being with whom could have related to him, one that Loki had not even mentioned for over a thousand years.
Before whatever thoughts in the former Prince's head could be explored the door behind his cell opened. Loki didn't even need to turn around to know who had entered.
"So eager to take me home already, Thor?" He asked in a condescending tone.
"Not yet. I bring with me someone you may take interest in meeting."
Loki turns his gaze towards the one he once called "brother" and takes notice of the person next to him, a girl, teenage by the looks of her, with pale white skin, deep violet eyes and long navy blue hair with streaks of pink and the same violet as her eyes.
Needless to say, Loki was a trifle confused.
"And she would be..?" He asked with evident annoyance in his voice.
"My name is Twilight Sparkle, newest crowned Princess of the nation of Equestria."
The second that last word left the girl's mouth, Loki's eyebrows were raised upwards in slight surprise.
"Oh really? Equestria, you say? Very interesting." Loki responded as his voice dripped with sarcasm. "I have to admit, Thor, this is a valiant effort at a joke, but that was never your strongest suite."
"You think I would lie to you?" Thor says with concern. "About this? I caught her falling from the sky with my bare hands! She and five others fell through a portal that appeared shortly after closing the one you made! She is telling the truth!"
"Then prove it. If she is truly a Princess of Equis, then she must have previously been an Alicorn, correct? Have her perform a spell here and now."
Twilight then began to look down at her hands with worry in her eyes. "Of all the things he asked me to do," She thought to herself.
"Is there a problem, "Your Highness?" Loki asked.
"Uh… well, see.. the thing is.. after I changed from a Pony body to a Human one, I've been having a hard time using my Magic."
"A likely story. I suppose Thor fed you that line too in case I asked for proof?"
"Loki, I AM NOT LYING TO YOU!" Thor said in a bellow that reverberated all throughout the room.
"Then fetch me my scepter and I'll look inside her head myself!"
"You KNOW I cannot do that, Brother!"
"I AM NOT YOUR BROTHER!" Loki screamed at the top of his lungs. "No more than that pompous, egotistical harlot of yours was a Sister!"
"YOU TAKE THAT BACK!" Thor yells raising Mjolnir into a battle ready stance.
"Or what? Is your precious little Princess going to banish me within the moon as well?"
Upon hearing this, information suddenly clicked together inside Twilight's mind.
"Celestia."
Loki stops staring angrily at Thor and turns to meet the girl's gaze. "What?"
"You're talking about Princess Celestia, aren't you?" Twilight asks with a hint of rage in her voice.
Loki, picking up on the girl's anger, chuckles with glee. "Yes. Who else could I be talking about but perfect, beautiful Princess Celestia. Known by her people as Equestria's greatest ruler. Known by me as its greatest failure.
"Take that back." Twilight growled, unaware that a red-ish aura began to form around her clenched fist. The Asgardian beside her and the Frost Giant before her, however, quickly took notice.
"Twilight," Thor calmly said in an attempt to alert her to what was happening.
"No, no. Let her vent." Loki said towards his former brother. "I forgot how the vast majority of Equestria treat their leader like a deity. That's why you two always got along, right, Thor?"
The blonde prince responds with a short scowl. This quickly dissolves upon seeing the aura around Twilight's right hand had nearly doubled in hue and size.
"So who is she to you, Princess Sparkle? I doubt at her age, Celestia would be able to take on a foal, willing or not."
"I happen to be the Princess' top pupil." She answered. Her gaze and voice still bore its growing anger. "She taught me all I know about the art of Magic."
"Oh, I have no doubt of that. Her knowledge of Magic always was extensive... as was her knowledge in being a self-serving,"
Twilight's hand now glowed with a blood red aura that began to crackle with electrical energy as Loki continued his insults.
"Egotistical,"
"Stop it." She spat out at him.
"Manipulative,"
"I said STOP!"
"Lying WHORSE!"
"SHUT UP!" Twilight screamed throwing her violently shining fist into the glass wall in front of her.
A blast of crimson energy exploded from the impact of her punch, which in turn sent a wave of residual build-up hurtling towards Thor, knocking him back at least several feet. The inside of the Loki's cell meanwhile began to heat up with the intensity of an industrial strength microwave oven in a matter of seconds, accompanied by a bright flash of red light that forced him to shield his eyes almost instantly. A loud sonic-boom like sound emitted from the resulting explosion, filling the immediate area with smoke.
Thor, coughing from the sudden smokescreen around him while simultaneously groaning from the magical burst that struck him, slowly picked himself up off the cold metal floor.
As the smoke slowly cleared, his eyes widened at the sight before him of Loki on the ground in his cell before an absolutely livid Twilight and a hole the size of a car tire burnt into the wall of the cell standing between them.
Twilight huffed and panted as she store down upon an almost frightened Loki. She peered down at the hand used in her deadly outburst moments ago, seeming to look at it with a mixture for residual rage, but also anxiety and concern. The princess closed her eyes before she inhaled deeply. Her eyes reopened, anger and resent still embedded in their gaze, but diminished considerably compared to how they were before.
"Don't you ever insult Princess Celestia in front of me again."
The infuriated princess turned her head towards her Asgardian friend with regret in her eyes. Thankfully, Thankfully, Thor responded with a quick and sympathetic nod. Twilight then turned on her heels and headed straight out the automatic metal enforced doors without another word.
Loki, assured that no immediate threats had remained, picked himself up to stand and face the only other being left in the room with curiosity and fear seemingly etched into his face.
"What manner of mystic is that girl?" He asked, sounding still rattled by the previous outburst.
"She is the current avatar of the Element of Magic, one of the six newly anointed
wielders of the Elements of Harmony that were forcefully transported here to Midgard." Thor explained.
"The Elements passed on from Celestia?" Loki surmised with shock. "Why? And what sort of creature could contend with the power that girl wields?"
"It's a long and complicated tale. But through a series of events they explained earlier, Nightmare Moon escaped from her prison and the Elements were passed on from Celestia to six new bearers in order to match her power. And with the leadership of Twilight guiding them, their powers vanquished the darkness within Nightmare Moon's heart... and brought the Princess of the Night back into the Light."
Loki's eyes widened to the likeness of dinner plates. "Luna.." he breathed, his voice reduced to barely above a whisper.
"Yes. Luna has been restored to her former self. Celestia has even allowed her to rule alongside her once again. Loki… whatever ill you bear towards Celestia, I believe that with the mare she is today, from what Twilight and her friends have told me, is a better one than before."
While Loki gave a small nod to show he was still listening, he appeared to be staring off at nothing, no doubt his mind still reeling with the influx of information given to him.
"And to answer your question of WHY they are here, a Changeling Queen called Chrysalis had obtained the corruptive power of the Alicorn Amulet and used it to tear open a portal to Earth." Thor continued.
"That's not possible. You and I both saw to the fate of that artifact more than seven centuries ago. How could it have fallen back into someone's grasp?" Loki questioned.
"That I do not know. But what I do know is that Equestria, as well as all of Equis, is in mortal peril the longer the Elements of Harmony are separated from it. Twilight and I have an idea that may allow us to return there, but that may require a secret path way, one that cannot be found by those unversed in their existence."
Loki turned his head to face Thor directly. "You need my help. That's why you came here. After all I've done, you're willing to put that aside for the "greater good" of someone else's needs."
"I did not say that I've put aside what you have done. You will still face trial for your crimes when we return to Asgard, of that I will make sure. But if you help us, I will attempt to persuade the Allfather to let you live to see another day, perhaps maybe even a day where you may meet with Luna again."
A small chuckle escaped Loki's lips as they curled into another one of his trademark grins. "You're more devious than you appear, Thor. Attempting to bribe me with the prospect of seeing an old childhood friend to accomplish your goals. Maybe we are related after all."
"You think that's what this is? Just a barter?" Thor asked him in a hurt tone.
Loki's smile disappeared soon after. "Very well. I'm sure I can make something happen."
Thor quietly nods his head before turning to leave.
"H- how is she?"
The blonde prince turns back to meet Loki again, his eyes bearing no malice or hatred, but instead, for what very few times it showed in him, that of pure honesty and concern.
Thor, not wanting to smile for fear of Loki thinking he thought better of him, proceeded to answer him with a reserved demeanor. "From what Twilight has told me, very well. The adjustment was difficult, considering the changes in Equestrian society over the course of a millennium. I've heard from the Element of Kindness called Fluttershy that she along with many other ponies were quite frightened by her Royal Canterlot Voice."
"Oh, Gods, she still does that? My ears ring to this very day the last ti-" Loki caught himself amidst his reminiscent behavior in front of who stood before him. "I- I am gladdened to hear that she is adjusting. T-" He held back before he permitted the two words to be said. "Thank you."
With one final nod, Thor once again took his leave, his face now adorned with the smile he dare not let his once brother see. Several armed agents passed him as he walked out, preparing to lead Loki to a new and more secured cell as a hole was melted into the one he lay in now.
"Oh, such a shame, I was beginning to grow accustomed to this one. Such nice wa-"
The sight and sound of their guns firing up soon had the former Prince's quip silenced.
Raising his hands above his head, Loki waited for the swarm of agents to flank him all around before slowly proceeding out of his cell.
"Luna… Even if it's the last thing I do, I'll see you again very soon, my old friend."
The corridor leading away from the penitentiary was empty, save for the lone violet haired figure who stood about face with her gaze facing a blank metal wall.
The pounding of footsteps upon the floor brought her out of her troubled contemplation. She turned to meet their owner as he came closer.
"I.. apologize."
"For what?" a slightly confused Twilight asked.
"For how he was. I thought that by showing him someone of a world he cherished here in need that he'd..." Thor's sentence seemed to died in his mouth as he struggled with the conflicting emotions inside of him. "But it only served to build onto his rage and sorrow, and instead of directing it at me, he aimed it at you, as well as the name of your mentor. And for that, I apologize."
"What he said about Princess Celestia... calling her egotistical and manipulative... Is that who she really was when you knew her?"
"Not to the exaggerated extent that he spoke of... But in a way, yessomewhat, yes. In our youth, she reveled in her title as did I. And though she did strive to lead and guide her subjects with wisdom and kindness, she would often do so with an obsessive need for peace by any means necessary. I was much the same not too long ago... I saw grace and great admiration in it... But Loki only grew to see the worst of it.
"Just like Princess Luna." Twilight said.
Thor answered with a silent nod.
The princess' eyes then squinted slightly as her mind travelled back to her encounter with Loki. "I noticed that in his anger.. He never once spoke about Luna in such a way... he.. cared a great deal for her, didn't he?"
Thor permitted a small yet genuine small to form upon him. "He would never truly admit so... But yes. And on the day he had learned of her banishment, I had never before seen him so... broken. He refused to travel with me to offer condolences to Celestia. He asked me 'why he would give such sympathy to a tyrant.' After that, we began to grow very distant from each other, even when I tried to reach out to him. But it only served to drive us further apart."
Twilight's eyes grew saddened almost instantly. "I'm so sorry, Thor."
"I thank you for your concern, Twilight Sparkle, but you have nothing to be sorry about."
"What about how I melted a hole through the glass of a high-tech prison cell a couple of minutes ago?" The violet haired girl asked.
"You were angry. It's understandable."
"Yes, but I've NEVER let it grow to such a level before."
"Twilight.." Thor said in an attempt to interject.
"And I've only ever lost control of my Magic once back when I was a young filly!"
"Twilight-"
"I don't know whether it's the stress of all that's happened, my new physiology, something inherently wrong with me or ALL THREE, but I-
"Twilight! Breathe."
She took in a deep inhale of oxygen as instructed as Thor gently placed a hand upon her shoulder.
"It's all right, trust me. This is not an issue concerning your character. I've known you for only hours and already, I can tell you are of outstanding moral fiber. You uphold the name of Equestria with great honor and your friends, along with Celestia are extremely lucky to have you in their lives."
"Th-thank you, Thor. I'm sorry I lost it for a second. Whenever there's a problem that my magic can't fix, I tend to.. well, do what I just did. My friends, probably all of Equestria, depend on me to ensure their safety, and I can even keep myself in check when things go wrong."
"Perhaps you expect too much of yourself. Not one being can hold all the answers to daunting tasks like these. Sometimes, we need look around ourselves, at our friends and family for the strength in troubling times. You need not carry this burden alone, Twilight. No one should.
Twilight's face seemed to hesitate on whether or not to accept a smile, until she saw one upon the Prince's almost glowing with compassion.
"I… Ok. I still want to try and regain my abilities with magic though. It's a part of who I am."
"I believe I may know someone who can help with that, but perhaps we should discuss it someplace more inviting than here."
With a quick nod, the princess and prince promptly took their leave down the winding dark hall, away from the pain and frustration the cells held.
